Yes you`re right that is a speaker it uses a voice coil and a magnet to create a magnetic field and sound waves to create sound.

GUESS WHAT!? I GOT PERMISSION FROM MY PRINCIPAL TO PULL THE FIRE ALARM FOR A DRILL YESTERDAY! they had the spectralert, and some places, they had an l series in red, strobe only

The city I live in has a combination of those spectralert advances. Original series in red, and the L series in white.
