AATC Elaborations (Podcast): What the next reboot needs in order to be successful

It needs 1. Consistency in character traits 2. Less gross out humor 3. I WOULD LOVE IF THEY TOUCHED ON ANXIETY AND ADHD STRUGGLES 4. More outfit variety 5. Higher stakes/less repetitive plots 6. I would love to see character growth stick from episode to episode but that’s probably a pipe dream.

Yeah, i think in a time like this, they need to focus on real things like anxiety and ADHD and how that is used in media today with other shows. The Proud Family Louder and Prouder Season 2 they made one of their characters autistic and handle it very well. So maybe in the future if we get another chipmunk character, they could possibly make that character autistic or something like that.

I’d love to see a serialized show for an Alvin and the Chipmunks reboot. Though I’d want the stakes to be high, I’d also want it to be lighthearted enough for kids. Something like Gravity Falls and Amphibia.

What we really need is the 80s cartoon and The Alvin Show to have official FULL releases! There are people outside the fandom (including kids) who rather watch the classics but don't know where to watch them. Especially when we are in the age of streaming services. There's a demand for a comeback of the 80s era!

Yes! I spent so much of my childhood begging my dad to find 80s episodes, especially the rarer ones. We managed to find most of them around the internet but it always bothered me that there are some I’ll probably never see. The 80s series was a major part of my childhood (even though I was born far after the 80s) and I would love to see the full series. I’ve never understood why they wouldn’t release the full series but I’ve also found there are certain episodes of the CGI series that are almost impossible to watch online if you didn’t watch them when they originally aired so I wonder what that’s about.

@@theycallmeemimi2397 The most likely reason why 80s wasn't fully released is because most songs they've covered are copyrighted. Bagdasarian would have to buy rights again which they can't afford now. As for cgi series, seasons 1,2 and 4 are on Paramount +

I’m 27 and I’ve watched The Chipmunks since I was 3 :) I will always watch it regardless. I know newer generations might drop the series after a few seasons since they aren’t as passionate about the franchise as some adults are, but I’d like to see one that has more complex plots. Maybe some serious drama, or harder comedy, something both adults and kids can latch onto and enjoy for years ahead. The franchise has so much potential for the future, assuming it’s bought by some other company, depending on whatever is happening to the franchise. Overall, I’d love to see a tv series or films with more characters involved, new plots and situations, concepts we haven’t seen, all while still being suitable for children. I would never want to see the franchise become something that isn’t wholesome.

I think the next reboot should stick to either the classic character designs or actual chipmunk designs. I don't like how the Chipmunks and Chipettes look in the 2015 series. The CGI animation reminds me of those iconic Barbie movies from my childhood. Yes, the CGI wasn't great, but the characters and plot made up for it. I think these chipmunk-human hybrid designs would have worked better in a 2D animated series. How would you feel if the new reboot was stop motion? I'd be thrilled about it, since stop motion isn't super common.

What I've been saying in my other videos, they have to go back to their original roots, which is the music. Cause there's not a lot of music in the show, which is unfortunate. I know there are songs in there. But there not that good, to be honest. They need to get back to basics and just start from scratch take like a really long break and figure out what they wanna do with it. I would love for them to just scrap all of this even the show and continue with the CGI films, I don't know if they'll do that cause that was a big part of my childhood growing up. and, add story to that you know. they already have something there you know Dave adopting the chipmunks and becoming a father to them. they could do that and explore that but make the story more complex, and PLEASE MORE MUSIC there are lacking that.

@@prufan well yeah I guess you could,kinda do that but they finished the 80s show a very long time ago, and i think 2015 show was suppose to be a spin off or something i don’t know why that is you could never replicate the 80s era of the episodes and shows. The CGI films i mean the first movie did great with the numbers also the second movie did really well being at $442 Million beating out chipwrecked and road chip, almost nearly beating the first movie which did great also, as for Chipwrecked and Road chip I know Road Chip did flop a bit at the box office and I think I know why it’s obvious there was no Chipettes in that movie so that’s why it kinda flopped, I am not sure if chipwrecked flopped also but I know after the other two movies came out it didn’t do great ethier. They could obvious go back and do Alvin And The Chipmunks 5 if they want but just make the story better and the characters better.

We all know that this show is for kids, but, what if they did something for older kids 1. They could do movies about the universal monsters like they did back in the day 2. They can go more into the horror genre (like a modern twist on Alvin and the chipmunks meet the Wolfman, can you imagine how cool that be?

How is the success of a chipmunk reboot dependent on wordplay? I was talking about more intrinsic things like plot and characterization. Besides, the live action movie sequels and the 2015 series had wordplay too, which had no effect on whether they were successful.
