If Jax is to become Darkin, i think Darkin will be chosen as a worthy weapon for Jax. Since Jax is master of weapon and been look for worthy one, and Darkin is soul of fallen godlike warrior trapped inside a weapon. They coexist like Venom.

An interesting point of view, yeap, Jax would be indeed a very powerful wielder of the darkin weapon, maybe even powerful enough to resist the darkin's will.

@@liandrug imagine Jax’s rework or Darkin version will be hybrid ( 2 forms) but instead choosing form to transform like Kayn. New Jax will be like Jayce or can be ascended like Kayle upon level up (Ascended-like) or by defeating specific enemies, choose some skill to advance like Kha’Zix (The Void-like). To be lore wise, if Jax are to become Darkin, he should be hybrid between and embraces both Darkin and Void while maintains his true identity, his own consciousness. I will explain why that’s lore-wise. One thing worth notice in Jax power is his power relies in his mastery in weapon, in-short, he knows his trade, he understands how dangerous it is to use something that one person don’t understand like how The Void broke out in Icathian when the mage whom Jax escorted couldn’t control the Brazier Stave contains the magical fire that eventually broke out the Void and brought destruction to Icathia. Jax had picked that Brazier Stave up and used it as weapon while he was intending to commit suicidal ritual. That Brazier Stave contains the fire of The Void and can be used to fight The Void. And I’m surprised that he can’t be corrupted by The Void, using the thing contains The Void. His own personality based on Riot is “Always itching for a fight, Jax is a brazen and arrogant individual, wanting to find an opponent that presents him a challenge” which sounds like Darkin’s chaotic motivation. His power is no doubt great. So much that he fight many Ascended include Aatrox, Nasus, Renekton, Varus, and possibly Rhaast back in the war. And Darkin basically is corrupted Ascended. On the other hand, his fighting style is very flexible, always changes based on his advantage, disadvantage and his enemy’s advantage, disadvantage which sounds like Void power, always adapts. So i think if he is to become Darkin, he will choose Darkin as a complement, not as a replacement for his Brazier Stave, since he already chosen the void to fight the void the day he picked the Brazier Stave as his weapon ( i say he already picked the Void since the magic fire in the Brazier Stave is weaker the further he from Icathia the exactly where the earth wake that broke out The Void). To this, i think he either dual-wield ( Why not when he is master if weaponry) or he picked Darkin as weapon and absorb/ comsume or bring the magical fire inside the Brazier Stave alongside him. But that’s what i think he should become, Riot can do whatever they want.
