In a nutshell: activate/tighten core before doing movement Edit: For those of you still wondering what is the message, here it is: When you do a core exercise (i.e a crunch or hanging leg raise) you need to do TWO main things. 1. "Suck in" or tighten your abs before you initiate the movement. Before coming up for your crunch, or raising your legs for a leg raise, you need to focus on sucking in and tightening your abs/gut. The tighter and more compact you can make it the better. 2. After you have tightened/sucked in your abs you then execute the ab exercise you are working on. While coming up for a crunch or raising your legs in a leg raise, you make sure to exhale air from your lungs. This whole time your abs/core should be tight. Once you go back down from the crunch or lower your legs from the leg raise, you can then relax your core a little and also breathe in. tldr: Going into movement keep abs sucked in and tight while exhaling (breathing out). Going back to starting position inhale (breathe in). Hopefully this clears it up!

Guys, if you are confused pause the video at 3:00. There it says on key points that we have to exhale without pushing our stomack "out". It makes sense cause alot of people will push their stomach out when they put pressure on their core and not breathe. He is telling us the exact thing that we should do. Exhale and pull in the stomach not make it bloat. Hope this helps cause I got really confused after watching this and had to watch over and over to understand what he was saying.

Thanks 👌🏽
@whengrapespop57286 жыл бұрын
He's talking about tightening the lowest and longest ab muscle (the one covering your bladder as well) before each rep. *Breathing:* In most exercises you should breathe out when contracting muscles (when your muscles work the most). It's like squeezing a balloon while blowing into it vs squeezing a balloon when letting the air out; it's easier to squeeze it (contract) along with the release of the air (exhale), and easier to blow into the balloon (inhale) when your grip around it is light (less contraction). However, try out different thing and do what feels the most natural.

The breathing method is the same (breathe in on the way down, breathe out in the way up). The only difference is while performing the exercise you should be TIGHTENING your core the whole time. This trains your core to stay tight even in a relaxed state. If you do not consciously do this during all ab exercises you might push your stomach out while performing the exercises resulting in a loose and bloated looking stomach. That's all! Don't over think it.
@mastermoo35066 жыл бұрын

Summary: The way you breath can actually effect how your abs look. The consumed energy in an ab workout is 30-50 calories because you arent moving enough muscles for long to cause significant impact. People say to avoid oblique training but this is wrong because when u train them, the direction that the fibers run in are giving a tapered illusion. For breathing, make sure to not breathe out or blow out during any ab exercise. This is a skill that needs work. We make a mistake like when we go up for a crunch we breathe out and crunch up at the same time not controlling what we do with our bellies. We do this without trying to engage the transverse abdominis underneath that holds the abs together tightly. To fix this, do the opposite. We should shrink the waist down as we come up. Make sure you dont hold breathe, you can do everything else normally like breathing, just make sure to BREATHE OUT and CINCHING IN at the same time. By doing this u will have a much flatter looking belly. If you dont, all the abs work gives you a distended abs look.

We should cinch(hold) our stomachs before exertion and breath out when exerting the chosen ab exercise.
@gymnast276 жыл бұрын
This is hard concept to learn for athletes as well. Even in gymnastics, a lot of us have trouble understanding how to contract the muscles instead of sucking in your stomach. My coach taught me, as you breathe out, you pull in and press down motion. You usually have to give them a visual representation of both. To get them to recognize the difference.

Thank you so much for this tip! I’ve been working out for almost 2 years and I’m at about 10%-12% body fat. Recently I decided that I wanted to surpass the point of stagnation I’ve reached by changing my diet and getting more serious about my workout. I’ve avoided ab exercises the entire time because I hated the bloated look I would get for days after(it was the difference between me being able to see abs and not). Recently I started binging your videos and this one really hit close to home because I’ve always felt like I should be training and but the bloating effect pushed me away. For those of you who are confused about it, the point is to contract the center of your abs as far towards your spine as possible and hold that for your excercise both breathing in and out.

Your diaphragm is what moves the chest and abs during breathing and its placement has no influence on whether your abs grow out lol. Cinching in while working abs will help engage them and give you more of a mind connection to the abs, that part makes sense. Abs aren't complicated, work them and cut calories. Boom. He did. And you're still exhaling here, but by exhaling you don't HAVE to extend your abdominal area. You exhale and contract your abs as hard as possible, (like when people suck their gut in when they take their shirt off) and the contraction is way stronger and it trains the muscle to "shrink in" rather than swell up thats all hes saying. It's not a contradiction.

Never compare yourself to anyone else. Focus on you and be the best you, not beat the guy at the gym. To many, I’m lacking, to others I’m a goal. To me, I’m were I want to be and my life is balanced, most of the time. This guy is awesome. One of the few on social media who is worthy of his followers. Keep it up! Being here and learning is the first step and an ongoing one. And please, love who you are and the body you’re in, even when you know it’s not perfect or the way you may want it. Try swallowing tablespoons of olive oil daily :) Up to 6, if you want/need to. Just not multiple at a time, that might make you throw up, as your stomach won´t be able to handle that much fat. Also, snack everyday. I had a very easy time putting on weight by eating gingerbread daily, and/or cereal bars ;) But first and foremost, WHY do you want to gain weight? You do realize that will mostly make you more fat, right? Being in a slight calorie surplus may help you put on muscle, but if you go to a significant surplus, you´ll get unnecessarily fat for no reason ;)

To anyone who might wonder about how this works; it is about activating an abdominal muscle inside your body called the TVA (transverse abdominal muscle). This muscle should be activated through sucking in while exhaling,breathing through the chest afterwards keeping the tension. This will train the TVA with every ab training. This muscle is also trained during the "vacuum training". This is just researched by me on the internet, so correct me if Im wrong

Either go to a doctor and check if you have an issue with gluten, lactose or something, or you could just try to cut gluten from you diet for awhile like 2 weeks and see if that gives you any improvements. If that doesn't work go on to cut lactose for a few weeks and see if that helps. Simple trial and error should solve your problem. My stomach problems largely went away with a ketogenic meal plan. Just try stuff out and see what works for you! Good luck with your endeavors m8.
