I believe we have a similar system in place in our area, Hemet/San Jacinto, Riverside, CA. Devices are located all around our small valley including some of our parks. I would hope it includes emergency text messaging to all cell phone users in the event voice communications are overwhelmed or shut down during an emergency?

Is AREDN dead? People have told me it's no longer viable now that FCC has given away 3GHz and 5GHz bands to telecoms companies.

AFAIK there has been NO ACTION by the FCC on 5GHz and their action on 3 GHz is currently ON HOLD!
