I think one thing Aba and Preach could do more of is review transphobes and call out the other side more, sort of like Destiny does. That way, people can see the more even coverage and find it harder to call them transphobes. When someone calls them transphobic, one of their supporters can send that person an entire video of them disagreeing with someone who is transphobic.

Also, the baked in idea that any opinion on trans issues that doesn't align with Hasan's is transphobic is crazy. There are more options than just A. supporting trans people and B. being transphobic, there are multiple ways to be supportive of trans people and multiple ways of being transphobic. I don't support trans people with cis people in sports because I don't think there's a way to have trans people compete against cis women where it doesn't lead to more transphobia, where it doesn't bolster the TERFs, and trans people competing against cis men are always going to be at a disadvantage, which is unfair to them. There are probably also transphobic arguments for having trans people competing against cis people in sports, there are probably some cis men who really want to beat trans people in their sport and who will use that to fuel further transphobia. The idea of discarding all people who disagree with him as just being transphobic is so stupid.

It is baffling bc you just know these are the same people that complain about funding for youth programs etc. They will rant about how kids need access to after-school activities and how we need to foster a nurturing environment for kids to grow. But that whole premise gets abandoned so they can join a cause that will have no real positive impact for the people they claim to be defending. I honestly feel like an issue like this will alienate democratic voters because they are essentially forcing people to weigh in on this controversy. And on top of that, they are labeling people as transphobic bigots if they aren't on board with trans women playing women's sports. It's amazing how incredulous they sound when they talk about this topic too. There is no doubt in their mind that they are correct and they almost seem to be shocked how many people won't toe the party line.

Why do people constantly keep repeating the entirely irrelevant crap about "not caring about sports otherwise" and thinking it means something. And every time someone on your side adds the "they just do it because..." it's claimed to be because of "hating trans people", as if people couldn't genuinely think standing up for female sex-based rights is the morally right thing to do when biological males want their feelings to override the sex-based segregation of female sports because they can't deal with being less competitive against other males as a direct consequence of their own personal choice to go on HRT. I know transwomen that used HRT to transition for 5+ years and frequently wrestled with us. One year of HRT did absolutely nothing to reduce her strength until year 4 or 5. First year only made her cry and that's basically it. After 4 years started losing when she was winning up to 4 years consistently. There is a massive difference between a male that went through puberty to 18-20 as a male and a young boy that transitioned before puberty then competed at 18+. Men have a massive advantage over women in nearly every sport: running, MMA, wrestling, football, soccer, basketball, tennis and several other sports that require endurance and stamina and especially strength or power.
@rumpled4skin271
@rumpled4skin271 2 жыл бұрын
that is crazy it took that long for it to affect her(its her in this story right not a he?) i thought that no amount of time on HRT would produce a result with lower performance in any sport when a man transitions to a woman. ive always agreed that we are advantaged as males in all sports. isn't the Olympics got a 2 year transition rule? if it is 2 years based on your info and anecdote, along with most science anyway we could, nay should have to try and change the rules to a 4-5 year transition window.
@CameronDC-Grimes
@CameronDC-Grimes 2 жыл бұрын
@@rumpled4skin271 it should be 4 to 5 years. But I'm willing to bet there are some things that won't change with transitioning if the male to female transperson has lived to 18 as a male before transitioning. Huge changes that drastically alter the body happens prebirth through prepubescents and through puberty. But I think it's a completely different story for males who transition at a very early age say prepubescent years up to adulthood. We just have not enough examples of child transitioners competing in national sports, it's also illegal in many areas. My friend Zoe is a male that transitioned in her later teens 18-23. Started at 17 but can't count it for many reasons. I have other friends that did it for 3-7 years. Most have very little change. The changes they report are not in physical strength in the first two years, it's mentally, wellbeing and emotionally. They cry a lot among many other things due to hormones they are not used to.

I watch hasan once in awhile, and I don't agree with the idea it wouldn't be a problem if trans women dominated some sports, but firstly it's not the case, and secondly, why is it not wrong for people like Michael Phelps to compete? Or a closer analogy, white people have a biological advantage (among other types of advantage like wealth) for swimming and dominate that field, while black people have an advantage for running and dominate that field, so clearly we're okay with biological (and not biological) advantages, just not from trans people. I'm neutral to trans women playing women's sports (passing trans women will play it either way), but the "advantage" argument is just not consistently held, and it's the only one that is logical from the "anti" position.
@ambientjohnny
@ambientjohnny 2 жыл бұрын
@@c00ki3IIIm0n5t3r It's not "women's sports", it's literally female sports, because it is a protected category based on biological sex, not some metaphysical claim of inner identity. There is less difference between Phelps and other males, than there is between any male and female. There are so many advantages males have over females physiologically that HRT cannot affect in any way, that it is entirely false, and supremely ignorant, to keep claiming differences can be erased, ESPECIALLY when the latest research clearly shows transitioned trans women still enjoy a significant advantage even after 3 whole years on HRT. Coupled with the differences which CANNOT be erased as previously mentioned. The question of people of the same sex being genetically more gifted than each other is not the same issue as biological males claiming they should be allowed to compete against females because they became less competitive against other males as a direct consequence of their personal choice to go on HRT. Some people are better than others at sports, yet females are outperformed by males in all areas of sport, thus the protected category was created to give them a more fair arena to compete in. Since males bodies cannot become female bodies, since the science says you cannot erase the benefits of male puberty, they WILL DE FACTO retain that advantage. Thus, it is unfair for them to compete against females.

While I do believe trans people can and should be able to transition, the worst people in the trans community are ones who will take the minimalistic thing that makes someone seem they are gay or trans like maybe they like cute stuff, or dress in a classic metrosexual way or a tomboy. I've heard so many stories about people who transitioned based on the reasons given by the people around them even when they never truely thought about transitioning in the first place and thought the way they are now is just how they are. While Trans people who are happy about wanting to be the opposite sex, these types of people are great but not so much so for those who are confused about whether they want to transition or not, and people are just so pro change they do it while still confused and some learn they are just gay or maybe even cis but the women just a tomboy. I hope that these people can find some middle ground with all people and just try to say " hey maybe you are are this or that and we will try to help you pick but ultimately the change or not to change is up to you and you alone. Until all pro for people can get like this, we will see people just get more confused about what they actually what and sadly that usually ends in death because even with support, they either begin to feel so many things including despair over the situation or they start to get nobody to truely have them feel like people are excepting them or maybe feel like their life was just a lie.

As someone in the lgbtq+ community and have a lot of left/progressive friends , I’ve seen a couple of people who would fall under that niche group of putting too much stock into the the external/performative aspects of gender identity and expression. I feel like that’s probably more common in the younger age ranges and people who don’t have a good deal of introspection going on. Personally speaking, I was a huge tomboy growing up who later grew into my womanhood/femininity and I think factoring in my queerness on top of it- if I was 4 years younger consuming all of conversations you’ve described I probably would have thought I was trans. One specific moment that I think of, is that for my senior directed play I played a transman character and that with struggling with my sexuality low key gave me a mini identity crisis. But overall, I think of people regardless of sex and gender as humans first and foremost and that should be the main focus.

@Josie These trans activist are out here literally making the suicide rate higher, I also believe this is part of the suicide problem in the trans community and the complete lack of giving two shits after the surgery. I heard so many stories about people who transitioned and was immediately shunned because they held regret because they were now in pain every day and the trans community basically said to STFU and the surgeons told them, then go to pain management. I think the trans Activists you see now are not caring about this because while most of them are happy with the change, they are not happy everything else didn't change with them and that if you are an prick before the change, the likelihood of being an prick after the change doesn't make them more plausible to be liked by everybody especially when you have trans people now telling straight men and lesbians they are bigots for not liking a chick with a dick.

You clearly do not agree with his policy on free speech. Considering the start of the video is him saying if you step outside of the appropriate narrative you’re perma banned/muted. Kind of a cuck move to uphold appearances. The whole common ground thing I can only partially agree with for some people. The choice of grooming or not grooming children isn’t really a dichotomy where common ground can be found. There is no truth but power isn’t something I can find agreeable. The ends do not justify the means I.E. lying about the hunter Biden laptop, lying about Kyle rittenhouse, banning destiny for seemingly saying men shouldn’t compete against women. You could argue that the things I’m saying apply to a vocal minority, but that vocal minority is listened to and adhered to by the majority of the left and indicates a certain bias. For example if you watch Destiny you have a bias towards fact based argumentation, and if you watch any daily show cringe comedian you’re looking for validation of what you already believe regurgitated in a way that can be somehow perceived as comedic. I can easily find common ground with the Destinys of the world because we’re both fact based people, but if you told me to find ground with the Hassans and Vaushs of the world it wouldn’t happen. Vaush and Hassan has made it clear principles, morals, and truth be damned they will hoard their wealth like Smaug saying and doing whatever they have to ensure maximum profit consequences be damned.

I'm pretty sure Hasan and Ethan Klein are in a competition to see who can be the most moronic person on the Internet. I coached wrestling at both the middle and high school level at a time when there was no women's wrestling. Girls that wanted to wrestle had to wrestle with the guys. In middle school, there wasn't too much difference. When you get to high school, that changes quickly! The girls would need almost flawless technique to compete with the speed and strength of their average male competitor. Similar situations come up in sports like track and field, and swimming. In one of the clips Hasan was going after Aba & Preach with, he mentioned Mack Beggs and how he was "killing it". He didn't bother to look up that 1) Mack was competing in women's wrestling while transitioning (effectively, taking steroids), and 2) when he tried to compete at the collegiate level, he could not even break the lineup after going undefeated for 2 years in high school (something that would land most guys at a Big 10 school where they would be a starter within 2 years). The fact that Hasan knows virtually nothing about sports (by his own admission), and doesn't care, means he should simply shut the hell up and leave the conversation to people who actually know what they are talking about. But, since he is in that competition with Ethan, he will never do that.

One thing I liked about this is how Preach mentioned that Aba (thought he was going too far) was tapping his leg when he started ripping into Hasan and he kept going after Hasan. Preach has the correct approach here. Love him or hate him Ben Shapiro does the same thing (decides whether or not to make someone look like an idiot in front of there audience). You need to be able to identify when someone is there for a genuine conversation/debate or when someone is only there to spin a narrative and commit to never changing their mind. Hasan is 100% that kind of person. The amount of times I have seen that man discard cognitive dissonance while still holding onto the I am the intellectual perspective of the left "card" blows my mind. Hasan is never going to change his mind. He will die on the hill of any argument he has ever made and will only conform to mainstream views to retain high viewership. The best approach towards Hasan is to make him look like an idiot in front of his fans. Destiny comes to nearly every debate believing everyone is approaching the debate in good faith. For the most part that is an admirable and good thing to do. However, sometimes you need to identify when you are debating these kind of people and immediately go to pointing out how dumb their arguments are. Because at the end of the day, if you debate someone like Hasan you are not actually debating them as a person. You are actually debating an entity that is not part of them.

I think it's pretty easy to care about youth sports without being constantly openly enthusiastic about it. It's easy to recognize it as an important (arguably necessary) activity to help kids learn a lot of crucial life lessons and (help) keep them out of trouble at a young age. Teamwork, failure, hard work, socializing, leadership setting and reaching goals, are all lessons much easier taught and learned being part of sports as a kid. I don't have to openly be a youth sports fanatic to recognize that - and as an extension be bothered when something comes along looking to sabotage or destroy that space. Yet another reactionary thoughtless argument from Hasan to suggest anyone claiming to care about youth sports is lying. And the way he (and seemingly many others) is so ready to just throw it away because they can't see the benefit of the activity beyond scoring points is exactly why people like him don't deserve a platform. They don't think what they are saying or advocating for through.

Same with Ethan at h3h3. I saw a Reddit thread of his fans and people were literally talking about his stupid takes, lying, doxxing the wrong person, saying even with all that I’m still a fan and would rather have him being terrible than no content at all. Their fans are self aware I think, they know how stupid they are and their idols do bad things but since they love the echo chamber they would never hold them accountable or even disagree when they are wrong.

Imagine if Hassan's video were part of a drinking game and everyone watching had to take a shot everytime he said transphobic or transphobia. His entire audience would be dead from alcohol poisoning less than half way through the video. But in all seriousness, he could at least try to make counter points with actual facts and data. Just using labels while painting every opposing view with the same broad brush is not a counter argument.

Whilst I agree that Preach isn’t the more political person within the duo I think without his input the dichotomy between the two just wouldn’t work so well. Preach’s thoughts are often more raw and intuitive whilst Aba’s are evidently more calculated and thought out. Preach is needed* for his understanding of how people twist arguments in bad faith and can visibly see the frustration that comes from doing that to someone. If anything, it gives them a vibe of authenticity, if* that makes sense, which is why I think people appreciate them so much. However, depending on the topic of discussion, sometimes it may be Preach to be the more rational one, its just the benefit of a great duo that play off each other.

I completely disagree with your take on high school sports. There’s a ton of people who use sports as a gateway out of poverty, class issues and are the first to go to college due to sports only. To allow trans women to go into womens sports and take a spot away from a real woman that would use the scholarship, spotlight and way out of their current situation away from them.

glad to see a fruitful discussion, hopefully you two get the chance to talk again sometimes. 1 point I cannot fathom though is the "I don't want to give ammunition to the other side", which in my opinion only leads to contracditions down the line. Or in other words: it restricts a solid argument from being made due to its logical consistency. We had just that last week in germany. the gov planned mandatory vacc req and prepped legislation. The left parties were mostly in favour, but in part also cause the right was against it. The slogan "my body my choice", usually chanted by the left was now deemed evil, cause it'd help the other side. I'd rather like to see consistency, no matter the topic at hand.

I have never understood Destinys point on bathrooms. Like you want people that aren't passing to use the other restroom right? So yeah as a conservative I think we should just have a consistent standard and Blaire White has to use the men's restroom. If Blaire White looked equally as a woman but was actually a biological woman but thought identified as a man you would be arguing she should use the man's restroom right? The next argument i see is "Trans people would be in danger if they were forced to use the men's restroom!" But seriously I have never seen a single story of a trans person being attacked by men in a men's restroom but I have heard LOTS of stories of trans people attacking women and girls in the women's restroom.

Saying that trans women can't compete in women's sports is a shitty bullet to bite but I have way more respect for the side that's willing to bite that bullet instead of having to put all cis-women at a competitive disadvantage in their own leagues. I think that trans women should be able to compete in sports up to the college level. Athletic scholarships are such an important thing for so many people as they're the only way for many people to get a college education. With how much there is at stake at that level and beyond, it just seems unfair for trans women to have such a big advantage to win those scholarships. Again I feel shitty saying that but I just think that's the most fair. But I do feel conflicted on this issue.

Women's sports leagues were literally created to give people born female the equal ability to get scholarships like males. So yes it's unfair to let males play in these leagues. We are going to need SCOTUS to confirm that Title IX applies to female sports, not just "women" based on self ID/ gender presentation. In medicine we acknowledge a difference in binary "M/F" vs "self reported gender" - its on medical records. Sports should be the same

I agree that youth sports are an important developmental aspect of a person's life but after grade 10, high school athletes are competing for scholarships. Which trans people have a right to compete for but not in the women's division. People like Hasan are going to cause society to revert back to the old days of jocks and nerds. Unathletic twerps who shoot a basketball all limp-wristy are trying to dictate terms for completely restructuring sports. The irony is, these dummies are actually causing me to rethink some of the opinions I have about topics that I have ZERO real-world knowledge of. We witnessed grown men beating up on boys when the NBA Olympics, back in the day, only allowed the United States to send college athletes to play against grown men and never win. As soon we were allowed to send NBA athletes, we dominated. Hence the 1992 Dream Team with Michael Jordan. That was the first time we sent grown men to play against grown men and it was more entertaining and gave us a fair chance to win the gold.
