I used to play FirePower 2000 with my brother, basically, every day. Just watched your entire run through the game and it was amazing. I saw you posted this video just yesterday and I'm glad to see that you're keeping these games alive. You will likely never be fully -properly- appreciated for the absolute level of mastery shown here - but I do appreciate it. Well Done.

Thanks! Did you watch my FirePower 2000 video? It was one of my favorite shoot em ups as a kid, rented it many times but couldn't get very far back then, never passed stage 3 I think.

@@PEG Yes! I watched it all the way through and couldn't believe it, no deaths! I could never get to the end as a kid either, but that surely didn't stop me from trying. Very impressive!

This was such a hard game when I was a kid

This was the hardest game I ever played as a kid. I’ve never yelled at a television so much. The idea of no deaths seems virtually impossible to me!
@PEG3 жыл бұрын
To me it seems like beating it without dying is practically the only way to do it since you lose all your powerups and it's pretty much game over after that.

@@PEG oh for real? I haven’t played in over 20 years haha. But I’ve got a mission for this weekend now :)

I always liked this game as a kid. I never owned it but I rented it quite a few times. I did own Life Force, though, and that’s probably why I liked this game so much. It was different enough that I didn’t mind so many of the beats being so familiar.

Life Force is a sister game to Gradius. As for Abadox, it's Contra mixed with Gradius in the music and sound department. Abadox is a Komani game to me.

-Can we get R-Type? -We already got R-Type at home The R-Type at home: . . . Cool run, are you playing B-Wings next or i'm just guessing?
@PEG4 жыл бұрын
Heh, I started going in alphabetic order and I have a few more coming out in the next couple days that will reflect this. However, I've now started using a randomizer to select my next game. As far as B-Wings goes, it's a Famicom exclusive game apparently, so I will add that one to my list and look into buying a copy. I'm only playing these with original games on a real system, so I will only be playing what I own, and I currently do not own all the Famicom exclusives.

Yes, it's pretty much a rip off of Life Force with even more grotesque visuals.

Is it really a knock off/riff off of Life Force if the original Salamander wasn't even all organically themed until it hit overseas? Then later reskinned on JP too Anyways this game reminds me more of S.C.A.T gameplay wise but given Natsume made that and Abadox no wonder why.
@PEG4 жыл бұрын
I would say it is a knock off or "homage" if you want to be more generous to them. All of the key elements of Life Force are here, everything from the bio-horror theme, to the alternating horizontal/vertical stages, to the final speed stage at at end of the game. It's all very similar to Life Force. Now that said, they do play quite a bit differently as far as gameplay goes.

Level 3 looks like it sucks, with the foreground being the same color and sprites and the environment
