LINKS AT THE BOTTOM OF DESCRIPTION-
Hey guys South Australian heritage needs your help please sign the petition at the bottom :-)
This video is dedicated to a grand old homestead known as "Moorfield" and it is a mid Victorian villa built in 1863.
Unfortunately this early and significant piece of South Australian history was never placed on a heritage listing and denied heritage in a final attempt once it was known to be listed for demolition. This video is dedicated to saying goodbye to Moorfield as it is now too late for this old girl but not too late for raising some awareness on how to try harder for protection and changes that will protect classic old structures like this. Please visit the links above and sign the petition to voice your voice and passion for heritage.
Thanks guys and enjoy the video :-)

Look at the positive, someone made a lot of money from its demolition. This person can now buy things. Don’t know what sort of home they live in, themselves, though, I guess they would demolish that, too, if they thought it would make them money.

My man and I watched this together. I love how the added in pictures where it once was beautifully decorated. The reason for all of this demolishing is because of the agenda 21. They want to put pple into tiny apartments so as to keep better track of them. It's all about control and facial recognition. Makes me sick. All of these beautiful homes could have / should've been saved. I nearly cried too.

I have no idea what goes thru the minds of Adelaide city council or the local suburban councils. One of my daughter's lives in Dulwich, which as you know, contains a large proportion of heritage houses in Adelaide. The local council had approved the demolishment of 2 restored circ.1820's homes on both the left and right of my daughter's home to build modern multi story complexes. Both houses were a mix of modern features with orginal build features. Restos were 2 years old. Long story short, I purchased both properties to stop the demolition. Both, needing very little money spent on them, are now rented out. I publically questioned the councils guidelines and mentality regarding heritage protection. 6months later I'm still waiting for an answer. Great vids as usual bro. 👍👍🇦🇺 Oh, and if your wondering what is being built on the property once cleared, it's a gated community of approximately 100 detached villas.
@urbexindigo5164

Wow!!!! Andrew now that is an act that should be commended! Good on you! How is it that age of a building does not automatically protect a building? Well we know why but I did hear the radio interview with a heritage expert pushing for that exact ruling to be put in place. But they are finding ways to get around heritage it seems? I hope you get your answer soon from the councils lol mate :-) as things need to change! Wow I did not know about the 100 villas! Geez!!!! Thanks for watching :-)

@@urbexindigo5164 The house my daughter lives in is a family home, originally built but my great great great grandfather, whom built, with his company, and owned a large proportion of the multi story woolbale storage building in Port Adelaide. The house to the right was originally the family home of a Nobel prize winning medical scientist whom was part of several doctors whom initiated and funded the original Adelaide and Woman's Hospital. The house on the left was built by marine engineer who designed many of the jetties, wharfs, slipways and maritime structures we enjoy in South Australia. He too was highly decorated in awards for excellence. When I purchased each house, and researched their histories,I placed photos of the original owners with a brief history inside the front doors of each house just as a reminder of our past.👍👍

These homes are unlike any other in the world. They are unique to Australia and it is a tragedy that they are being destroyed at the hands of developers who care nothing for their historical value. This particular house looked in wonderful condition and deserved to be saved. Maybe it was a B&B priced too high for the average buyer? I am from the US but I have fallen in love with Australia’s architecture. I can only share in the despair that these homes are disappearing at such an alarming rate.

The real-estate photos give a good indication of the "richness" of colours provided by the decor and owners possessions . We will have nothing left that is beautiful. A dentist kills a magnificent lion because he has the money and is proud. It is all greed, and the rest of us will have nothing but dirt and cheap housing to look at while we become the slave of the wealthy 6.

This one brought tears to my eyes. What an elegant place this must have been at its zenith. The attention to detail and the richness of the finishes was extraordinary. I certainly hope and pray that those who appreciate such beauty and heritage are able to effect changes so that this continued erasure of your country's history does not continue to be destroyed.

What is happening here is my definition of sin...the destruction of beauty, art, and history with complete lack of empathy for any of that which is destroyed. It is a small step from the mementos we create to leave behind as token of our having lived, to humans for whom they have no use. It is like watching the sack of a great city by the barbarian hordes. Thank you so much for recording as much as you could find of what was originally there, with any luck the petition can save it, and there will be a guide to the restoration. Love the work you do.🖤🇨🇦 Editing to say I am amazed to see another cellar in your country, they are so rare. That other Kitchen might have been the Simples Room. Where herbal medicines were made and preserved as syrups and tinctures. Those were common and necessary rooms in those early days.🖤🇨🇦

Hi There- Just caught your video. Poignant and beautifully compassionate overview of a beautiful building. People don't have the eyes to see the beautiful workmanship and architecture of these grand masters that were built to stand proudly for a century(s) and have done. I applaud your great stance on protection of heritage . Have seen in it happen in my city and although I understand that things must move forward , these heritage buildings can be re-purposed as should be done. It is sad to see them go in order put up parking lots, malls and apartment buildings and create the concrete jungle . I hope this helps you in your fight for protection of heritage structures. I applaud loudly your efforts and thank you . I share your sadness.

When I first started this channel I was not fully aware of how many old homes were being torn down but I quickly found out and have become passionate about losing too many! This video really made such a impression on me. So sad to see the beautiful heritage being destroyed. Same thing happening here in the US. Don't the people in power realize that once you destroy these beautiful homes that all the heritage attached to it are also gone? The older homes that were built were built with pride. Pride that made them stand the test of time. What is being built today are cookie cutter floor plans and shoddy workmanship. Thank you for this video. I so enjoy all of your video's.

How on earth did such a beautiful house come to such a tragic end? Was it a deceased estate with no family left to keep it? This is really devastating & such a waste. I am really disappointed that nobody came forward to buy it before it was condemned to just a memory. Bloody greedy developers - this was a crime!! 🤬🤬🤬

The homeowners of 35 years decided to sell and move on but they sold to a sneaky developer..........the place unfortunately was not on the heritage list which spelled doom!!!!!!! The developers had no worries deciding to demo it and put 100 units in its place!!!!!! Greedy indeed Jules! Thanks for watching :-)

Who on earth gives permission for buildings like this to be demolished? So very sad to see this has gone... it was such a beautiful home and no obvious signs of decay. As someone else said... this is a crime!! Thank you for documenting this property and showing pics in all its splendour. I love watching your videos and binge watching atm! Much love from the UK ❤

I watched this some time ago, and have just gone back through the comments. You've done a great job, Paul- with all of your videos, but particularly with this one, to affect people like this. Causing this kind of emotion, is an art, great job!!! Also, thank you, in all of your videos for explaining all of the different kinds of architecture. I was watching a video, yesterday, and saw a fireplace, and yelled, "Federation", and was very proud of myself, because I was right. You've taught me things like that, lol- --Gerri (SDK)

This is too sad and it's shameful, there must be money involved that went into someone's pocket because otherwise things like this wouldn't happen.

Shame on south Australia. Absolutely tragic. Hope this video helps bring new awareness and can save the next beautiful home. Australia has a track record of destroying parts of our history. We should look to other countries and embrace the old. England Italy and France are steeped with gorgeous old buildings and embraced by locals and tourists alike. Great video and thanks for sharing

I hope it does too Kim. I would hate to think more and more are going to fall victim too! Is there enough on the list???? Surely this one was good enough but it slipped through.........so sad. Yep Australia will have none and then will think oh gee we should have kept some lol. Thanks for watching Kim :-)

Outside bathroom was to shower before getting into the pool. All about hygiene. Nobody does that anymore. People just jump in.
