Hi Paul Was amazing to see the houses. I grew up in Mitchell Street and knew Bill Schofield as he was a very good friend of my father's. My sister and I used to ride our bikes in Alexander Street as it was a dead end and we were safe to do so. It brought back many memories of all the people who lived around us. It is such a shame the houses could not be refurbished as the styles were so unique. Thank you for the memories.

The man with the greatest abandoned houses video! Too bad it was taken down. Anyways, I kind of understand your perspective regarding this old house at the dead end, and I am sure plenty of viewers share your sentiments, and I don't intend to insult anyone, but using that house as a car repair shop, was something that made me go, Great! That house was abused, as you said " Was probably used as a place to sleep" I am so glad that this poor house was finally treated well and got herself a brand new gown. Here in the USA, we say, out with the old and in with the new.

I am thinking that the gentleman who died aged 44 (Mr Poole) was perhaps a relative of another Poole who did live on the street but the deceased never lived there himself? Just maybe? The new builds look alright.... but I agree that they just don't have the character and charm that the old homes used to have. That building at 43 Mitchell St. (@40:00) --- I honestly thought it was a suburban branch of a bank. Ugly as hell. The house it replaced was so sunny and airy, just the best of 1950's style, that porch with the real windows that allow outside air, not plate glass so it's like you're in a terrarium As for the rest, terrible to demolish them. And for the Scofield house, too bad it's no longer part of the family history but I'm sure there were reasons. Really good work in this video. Your homework on former owners, the commentary as you go, done professionally.

Watching these videos remind me of mine and my husbands first home that was knocked down after we moved out (we rented it). It had the lean to back bathroom, toilet and laundry with the old copper pot in the corner. I understand why some of the homes get knocked down as sometimes they just can’t be saved structurally (the huge floor to ceiling cracks aren’t a good sign) but it always makes me so sad to see it.

Do those that Tear Them Down save the Doors & Glass Design Windows for Resale? Was it common to have the Fireplaces that they would burn Coal in them? Do you live in a Historic Home Paul? always, Tommy🤠

Hi Tommy 🙂👍 it costs less to build a cheap crappy new home unless you do want a replica then it would be more expensive. Some companies are building some great replicas which I will try do a video on. Yep some demolition companies save lots from the old homes but I have seen a few just demolish the whole lot in a rush too! I don't unfortunately live in a heritage home but I rent a nice old 1922 bungalow 👍😁

I've lived in similar era houses and even older. More character than concrete bunkers.

I liked the second stain glass windows, better. But I like most stain glass windows. That first house, that was built. In the same place as the tear down. I didn't think fit the neighborhood as well as last one. The last one, looked more like the time period. Of the one that got tore down. I would like to know what is oldest house, that you know of. That somebody fixed up, instead of tearing it down?
