For someone who doesn’t know what they are doing. You are doing a very good and professional job my friend you can never be too careful when you are messing with a automatic transmission. Bravo job very well done 👍 it shows that you self teach yourself sign of a good mechanic

As a 65 yr old man your not 20 anymore things might go a little better if you quit working on the floor . It's a lot easier on your back & knees . Maybe you wont get so flustered . Just a thought . Good Show

Good job on the transmission. First new car was 63 Falcon 6cyl/Fordomatic. In the family for 17 years with no drivetrain or suspension probs. Added a drain plug to transmission pan and replaced fluid when needed. My Falcon made some long trips. It survived city traffic in Atlanta and one winter in NY. With the 6 the stock Falcon will peak at 80-85 on a straight open road. That is all. It is a light car so should consider suspension and brake upgrades if you make it faster. Falcon bodies are very rust resistant. Original finish lasted a long time with a good wax job every year.

That Sporty should be a fun project. I don't know what year that thing is, but if she'd like a bit more power on it, going from the stock 8.5 : 1 to 10.25 : 1 compression, putting an Andrews V8 (or compatible lift and duration, depending on its year) cam, with S&S Super E can really wake those things up. What's next for Millie ?? Interior work? Also, Holy Cow, Li'l Bit is growing up way fast!

I worked in a transmission shop when I was younger and I was taught take it all out in order and back in the the way it came out. I had problems in the beginning so I learned on my own just take pictures like with drum brakes when first learned. Needless to say I was allergic to the transmission fluid so it didn't last long
@garyjohnson44584 ай бұрын
I have rebuilt a number of transmissions Will tell you this every time I did not use every thing in the kit it bit me in the ass It was not very long and I was redoing that transmission after I paid to re do a few I started doing complete rebuilds it stops the weakest link theory when u replace just whats worn you cause another part to now be the new weakest link
@Castrucksandtractors4 ай бұрын
Glad you're back my 54 ford crestline had a fordomatic had it rebuilt twice by 2 different transmission shops both who were very reliable shops and neither one lasted more than a couple hundred miles each i finally found a parts car and swapped mine to a 3speed and now its a 5speed hope you have better luck. What's up with the LTD for that boy

Maybe I'm wrong but that looked like a half done job to me seems to me that you would automatically go through it from end to end to do a good job I mean wouldn't that be the right way to do it?
@garthsgraveyardgarage4 ай бұрын
Personal preference I guess, but I was told on these old 2 speeds you can just repair what's broken, so that's what I did.

Why would anyone want to rebuild that lousy air-cooled two speed Fordomatic trans ? Best relpace it with a three speed (C-3, C-4) or a standard trans.

Because it's easy and original. Personal preference.

@@garthsgraveyardgarage I aquired a 63 Falcon with a 170 cui six and the two speed auto. It took forever to reach hiway speeds. The only redeemable quality was that it was miserly on gas.
