I had a '64 New Yorker. I LOVED that car. One thing I did was adapt a dual reservoir master cylinder from a Cadillac in there so it would still stop if it ever lost another flex line. Added a Mopar performance electronic distributor and it would light off after two revolutions every time. It was big, but fast enough.

I remember these when they were new. Always liked 50's - 60's Chrysler products. Is is relatively rare at 3,022 produced.

The 1964 300K only came with a 413 but it had a 4bbl or it had the long runner cross ram dual quads and that was it for the engines.

It's quite remarkable that that car wasn't surface rusted extensively. With any "clinging" or non-breathable type blankets, quilts etc. like that, an old Mopar will rust through QUICK. It's likely that garage roof stayed intact enough the blankets didn't get soaked. I saw a 1964 Plymouth stored outside under huge blankets,it was rusted OUT.

That engine deserves a full rebuild,,there is to much surface rust in it to start it,,,could do damage...

426 Wedge would have twin 4 barrels on a short travel cross tunnel ram.

Awesome find, unfortunately leaving that cover on for all those years trapping humidity, did damage to the paint and parts of the body that we're actually covered. The rodents also did a nice job on the interior. It should have a nice patina look, if you're into that but overall its Its gonna need a lotta work.... good luck!! 👍👍

You should have had oil up to the rockers within one minute - unless the pickup screen was detached or plugged up.

I am sure the original 413 would have had the dual 4 barrel carbs. This could be the 383 rated at 305 HP. This was the base 300 engine. If so then is a correct engine for the year. I do see later in video it appears to be a 1967 440. Mystery solved, but where did the 413 go?

@Allmusic956, The original 413 was likely raced & blew up or some idiot ran it out of oil & it siezed or slung a rod. They were tough engines to break.

In 64 a 413 with single 4 barrel was standard in the K, auto trans with 4 speed optional. A dual 4 barrel cross ram 413 was available as an option, automatic trans only. A friend of mine had one of these, same color with the white interior. Gorgeous car. He lost it when the master cylinder failed at an intersection. Totalled it. This was in the 70s.

I love the 300 letter cars and that is a cool car but it needs major TLC that garage may of kept it from the weather but it did not keep it away from the animals that lived in it

Without the original engine I would be sorely tempted (finances allowing) to drop in a 5.7L crate engine and transmission.

To hell with patina. 'Patina' is as good a term as 'sanitation engineer.' Its a euphemism for 'completely trashed.'

Nice job pulling the valve covers and soaking the guides and seats. Most of these "Will it run" guys totally neglect the valvetrain and I'm always suspicious - valves rust in their seats pretty easily. When you were running the oil pump and looking at the cylinder heads... don't the rocker arms need to be on for the oil to make it to the top? I thought the lifters pump up and then send oil up the pushrods to the top of the heads. I don't know for sure, I'm not a mopar guy, but I love these old 300s! Nice find, too bad someone swapped the old 413 though.

Thanks for the comment Brian, yes I believe you are correct, we should be getting oil up through 2 of the rocker arm stands on each head that’s why I’m wanting to get the motor to turn a little to see if I can get oil up there or do we have another problem. I agree with you about the original 413 being gone but the 67 440 was a good choice those are the 915 closed chambered heads, I think if I can get it to break free we can make it run. Thanks for watching!
