+Suze Glesky Well, you know, if the owner of the property wants to *keep* it a motel for nostalgia reasons, keeping the rooms clean and the building in good shape is really important. If you let it get all filthy and vandalized, almost nobody is going to buy it unless they plan to tear it down and build something else in its place. The better shape it's in, the less the buyer will have to spend on renovating. In this case, it looks like (at most) carpet, wallpaper, phone, TV, bed linens, light fixtures (some of the globes are cracked), and a lick of paint. Maybe not even *that* much, if you want to keep the retro look. That's plausibly less than a thousand dollars per room, as opposed to what it would cost to replace broken windows, broken toilets, broken air conditioners, etc. In fact, it looks like the outside needs more work than the inside, but that could just be the impression I get from the aging paint.

I know you guys were saying this was retro 70's motel, but from the looks of the colors of the bathroom, exterior, and hanging lamps, it appears to me that it was built sometime in the 50's, possibly very early 60's. Growing up I know pink and that shade of blue was really popular back in the 50's, with my grandma's and aunts and uncles' houses all decorated in these colors. Those chairs and carpet look to be a 60's/70's update, TV's are definitely 70's, very early 80's. LOVE LOVE. LOVE this place!!! What a great find you guys, keep up the good work!!!

That is one of the best preserved hotels I've seen on an urbex channel. Most of the time, the interior of a hotel gets vandalized or destroyed by mold and water damage within a few years (from what I've seen). This place looks like the owner could open for business tomorrow. Not even dust or dirt around or anything.
@wdharvey17 жыл бұрын
If you say there is someone living on property, these rooms are probably kept for that individual in case he'd like to have guests. That has been known to happen with abandoned "motels". These rooms are so clean, not even dust and the carpets are clean. Therefor, I think they are used for guest rooms of the person who is the "onsite manager".. There is no way on God's green earth that those rooms could have been let spotless like that for so many years. These rooms are being used by someone, and someone is cleaning them. Even the property is maintained to some degree..but, the rooms are spotless. No mold, no dust, no trash, TV's plugged in, ash trays clean, towels on the racks. I can say this because I work in hotels, and I also lived in an 'abandoned" motel when I was growing up. It had only 5 rooms, and was located in South Carolina long before I-95 came through. It was kind-of-sort-of restored, but, never did quite "make it"..all the same, I think this "motel" was and is being used for residential use.

These were the old Mom & Pop Motels from the 50's, 60's and 70's. They were put out of business by the big Chain Motels like Holiday Inn, Ramada Inn up through the more expensive All Suite Motels. As the older Motels lost more & more business, a lot of Eastern Indians bought them and tried to fix them up. They used a lot Bargain Basement and discount Furniture finds. Hence all the miss matched fabrics and furniture. The bulk discount paint colors were ridiculous, as you can see for yourself. This type of decor did not appeal at all to the American Public and business further declined. Eventually, they locked the doors and closed up. Surprisingly, this place has not been vandalized. Please keep this location a secret. It is a real time warp. A step back in time. Sad to see it go by the wayside.

Rick S: Yup, I still have my landline and copper wired phone. I also keep cash on hand in the event of a zombie apocalypse & debit cards will not work.

Wow! It is simply amazing that the furniture in the hotel is still good. I just wish there was some way of saving all of that.

Wow! This is going on my Urbex Favorites playlist. This is one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever seen. No vandalism. The property seems to be kept up. Someone could do a movie there, and have authentic 70’s decor. Sure, it sucked that you couldn’t get in more rooms. Still an amazing find RnK! I know this is an older video, but have you considered a revisit? Excellent video!

It would be great if you gave some geographical reference or some facts as to when and why these places are a abandoned

A very interesting place... but more than that, I really liked the shots, angles and transitions in your video... it wasn't a simple "found footage" documentary of your day, you really put some thought and style into it. That was enough to get me to subscribe! I look forward to seeing your other videos. Keep up the great work!

Great video! You all do an amazing job filming these cool places and I like exploring with you all! This place is amazing so glad it hasn't been vandalized and all the cool retro decor is intact.I like the 70s decor that I grew up with,seeing this brings back memories! You are right,someone does care about this place to keep it in this condition! Looks like all the place needs is paint here and there and a little dusting and maybe some new TV's.Where you able to contact the owner? I was thinking maybe they could have enabled you all to film in some of the locked rooms and the lobby.You all really find some interesting places keep up the good work!

You should have checked the tags on the fire extinguisher. It would have given you a date the last time they were filled or checked.
