Are you able to do lots of work in a limited space?
Yes, without question. The biggest issues we face in our 2stallgarage are organization. Keeping the workspace organized and both stalls clear of clutter really helps with motivation, which then helps with productivity. Basically, if I see a clean workspace, I'm much more ready to dive into a project or even just scheduled maintenance like today's oil change.

the absolute craziest thing about these - all those standard - trucks is that the differential throws the power to the weakest traction on the rear wheels. you would think posi-traction or a locking differential would be on most one uses in the country or off-road. actually setups like that are rare. never understood that. i did have a friend in W. Virginia used to climb straight up hills (no road) with a 4-wheel drive and chains on all wheels. thats how he would stock firewood.

Old squarebody still has a nice look to it. I had a 80 gmc sierra that was white and came with a 250 inline 6. We upgraded it later to a 350 v8. Really great trucks and easy to work on.

I would agree, olds diesels were a conversion.I worked for a bank that had an olds 88 for a company car . If u wanted to pass somebody,u had to plan a day ahead of time!!!

been there for years in the cold. love the northern winters, but sadly i am not built for it. at the temp this guy is working ... very few people would be able to stand it. i remember changing a u-joint in Vermont winter. kept my tools on the wood stove and had to run in and out every five minutes or so. way too cold for anything.

Hopefully first thing was a LSD or locker in rear diff...... Oldsmobile motors were the go to engine for the old chevy trucks back in the day. 70s and early 80s...I reckon

the Old's Diesel 350 was the biggest hunk of junk ever out of Gm on the other hand the Olds Rocket V8's where some of the best motors ever made by GM .I know a lot of people that bought them new and spent more time in the dealer service department than in there home drive way !!!

the Old's Diesel was a spin off of the Olds Rocket V8 but the head bolt design could not hold the high compression of a Diesel & would blow head gaskets left & right !!!

couple more comments. First, had one of those square bodies - not pretty or aerodynamic - but gave you a lot of room to work on the engine. next, never stick a v-8 in these , use the 300 straight six. workhorse and easy to work on . Second - i like this guy - a lot. Another superior person he mentions " I guess that is why Derek went to Tenessee ." Derek is " Vice-Grip-Garage. " Both these guys are the kinda people i want as neighbors. means a lot for me to say somethin like that.

The fitting on the carb is supposed to have a plastic seal on the end and the fuel filter goes inside the fitting.

Every time I see guys working on brakes without Safety Glasses, I cringe. I was doing a brake job in Highschool auto shop in 1978, and got popped in the eye by a spring. Safety wasn't a big issue in those days. Been essentially blind in that eye ever since. Be careful out there.

Well, i got a nice reply to my " neighbor " comment. My comments here make me seem like i grew up in the country. Did not. Came from old wealth and went to a " prep " school in New England. Played sports against schools that matriculated George Bush etc. etc.. Tucker Carlson matriculated from my old school. The point i am getting to ..., well, i am proud of my old school and the values it taught at that time. Today it is probably woke trash ( excuse my language ). I was taught young to believe in America. As the years went on i asked myself " What is America?" Well, my version is the old old school-book version. It starts with our founding documents and our founding " heroes. " Still believe in them. As far as common American culture; when i removed everything i could i was left with " how to be a good neighbor. " That can be tricky, but it starts with respecting the privacy of your neighbor and not judging them from the outside. It also includes looking out for your neighbor in the small ways like you would want. Returning their dog etc. and little things - always with respect for their privacy. The big time comes in a " crisis ." You treat them as family to help - as you can - in the first crisis. If " crisis's " keep happening you understand it is more their " way of life " than accidents and you back off more. The good ladies of the families have traditionally been the workers to slowly start to make good ties with the neighbors. As far as " borrowing " - that is kinda a mini-crisis. The first time it is always yes. If i - or you - borrow something and return it in better condition than when i got it ..., well think about it - " I sure hope John wants to borrow something else !" This life ain't easy - and never was - but the evolution of a good human is always in front of us. We do not survive on our own. We need help from our neighbors.

Keep a vehicle running for the lowest price. these city " woke " people ain't gonna survive nothing - and nothing seems to be here.
