If CCI was still around they could’ve used the “our coaster structurally survived one of the worst hurricanes” as a selling point. I mean a hurricane and 20 years of absolutely no maintenance. Truly impressive engineering.

Unfortunately, Six Flags maintenance was not kind to any of their CCIs. The Villian at Geauga Lake/ SFWoA is a prime example. That coaster was amazing when it first opened. After a few years, it was still awesome, just REALLY rough.

I live near New Orleans, I plan on going soon to just drive by. It’s sad that the city let it sit for so long after almost 20 years of issues. The company that has leased out the land is Bayou Phoenix. They are supposed to build movie studios, recreational sport fields, hotels, family entertainment center, indoor/outdoor waterpark, shops and dining. It will probably be a while before it’s completed though

An age ends with the demolition of this park. Once upon a time all the major parks of the 2000s were still standing, Geauga Lake and Six Flags NO being the top 2 "abandoned ones". This was the last major abandoned park left standing after Geauga Lake got demolished a year or so ago, now this one is being demolished. That's it, there will be no more abandoned amusement parks left standing

My mom is from New Orleans and i have extended family that survived Katrina When my younger cousin and her family came to stay with us in North Alabama after they evacuated at the last minute because it was literally the day before that the news broke that Katrina was heading straight for New Orleans, it hit her like a freight train, my mom and aunt were glued to the TV and i had to console my 6 year old cousin who was endlessly sobbing at her home possibly being destroyed, the safety of her friends and seeing the park that she loved to go to be completely submerged in water along with the then New Orleans Hornets arena, her friends all survived as they had evacuated and their home was still standing despite the roof being blown off but because of the exposure to the elements, the mold had gotten so bad that it still had to be torn down and rebuilt My uncle stayed behind to assist in search and rescue and i don't know how, but he was able to get a piece of film from the Spongebob Ride from Six Flags New Orleans and i still have it to this very day framed on my wall 2-3 years before we had talks of my mom going back down to visit and taking me to Six Flags NOLA but unfortunately that never happened

The way nature has reclaimed this park more and more , year after year, is fascinating yet sad. A amusement park is meant to bring smiles to peoples faces and instead it sits silent and abandoned all while rotting away. A new forest has basically grown around the rides with other parts of the park under water. It is returning to the swamp.

The electronics, air lines, pumps and motors are trashed and would have to be replaced along with a lot of the wood. The galvanized metal structure is in good shape. The footers it sat in were dug deeper than normal seeing it was in a wet area. Therefore it hasn't settled much, if any. It's a shame another park didn't buy it and move it. It was a fun ride.

I read some articles on the future of the site. It's set for demolition in October. Plans for the site include a water park, a hotel and a sports complex. I'm surprised that it took this long since the site was sold to come up with a new use for it. It makes me curious of what the site will look like once construction is finished.

The city owned it up until recently under a subsidiary called IDB. There was a company trying to revive the park probably 10yrs ago with solid plans, money and other financial backers for the project. But the city gave them nothing but red tape. It still bumfounds me why the city didn't want to sell it to them. It was almost like some sort of tax evasion or fraudulent scheme.

You did a good job with your drone shots what I saw of it the rollercoasters the ferris wheel everything looks fine I don't know why tear it down. It looks fine and ready to reopen. Because I didn't see any destruction from the hurricane so do check the rides over and some buildings damages and get ready to reopen the park. No rides wore destroyed they all survived the hurricane just care of the certain issues with the park and reopen it let's go reopen 6 flags amesument park. Probably take at least 400 million dollars to build it back to what it was. A single B&M Hypercoaster runs upwards of $25 Mil just for 1 ride. Plus, ensuring a park that's literally being rebuilt in a flood zone... Six Flags/Premier Parks won't touch it.
