As an employee at Six Flags Great Escape I don't believe that park is on the chopping block. It has recently received some investment with Bobcat (new for 2024), Hurricane Wings full service restaurant open year round (replacing Johnny Rockets), and has the Lodge. The Lodge is a huge money source for the park. Routinly sold out many times during the year, has the indoor water park, and brings in profit when the theme park is closed. The attendance for Great Escape is steady year-to-year and brings in a solid, reliable income for the company I believe. It's something locals visit yearly and has a huge draw for Canadians.

Obviously Six Flags will consider selling off marginally profitable parks. They have a lot of debt and this is one way to help reduce that burden. The big problem is who is left to buy the parks they want to sell? While there are other somewhat larger operators out there they face the same problem as Six Flags. Some parks particularly those operated in the northern part of the USA will always be seasonal parks due to winter weather. Anybody buying one of the older parks would also have to consider how much more new investment would be necessary to keep them attractive to the local area patrons.

Six Flags Great Adventure will be the Magic Mountain of the East. I think Kings Dominion will get major investments also. Not KI or CP money but they might want to really compete hard with BG after getting rid of SF America.

I agree that CGA and SFA are the first to go. I would add King’s Dominion to the parks that will receive investments. Once SFA has been sold, they will use KD to compete against Busch Gardens Williamsburg. They’ve already started the investments with the re-theming of a large section of the park (Jungle Expedition), rebranding/painting I-305, re-profiling/re-tracking Grizzly, and adding two new roller coasters (Trumbili and Rapterra). They’re trying to challenge BGW for the market and that’s more fun for all!!!

Six Flags Great America should see a lot of investment / improvements. It has one of the best coaster lineups in the former Six Flags chain, is consistently busy and located directly between Chicago & Milwaukee. I would love this to be on par with Kings Island, and think it has that potential in the next 5 to 8 years. I'm kind of surprised it doesn't at least have one of those large gold stars you have on Magic Mountain, Carowinds, and Six Flags over Texas.

It’s been well past time for Six Flags America to be sold off. It has been scoffed off at by upper management for decades now with very little investment. That “upgrade” they received this year was honestly lipstick on a pig. There’s so much potential there and literally any other operator or independent owner would unlock it. Not Six Flags. In terms of other parks being sold off? I’d say they’ll end the leases with Frontier City & Darien Lake, along with Six Flags St. Louis (depleting population will be the biggest factor), obviously CGA and maybe even Discovery Kingdom. Not to close it like CGA, but wipe their hands clean of Northern CA once and for all. On the fence about Valleyfair as well.

I hope they keep Six Flags America and Six Flags Darien Lake. It looks like the company is starting to put more attention into them. I can not say the same about La Ronde or Frontier City. They could turn it into the Thorpe Park of North America under their leadership.

I agree with you on both reasons why La Ronde wouldn’t go; They wouldn’t get the big sale money as it’s an emphyteuric lease -they might as well keep it, even more so that, on regular seasons, it doesn’t lose money. Also the potential to make more money is there

I see them breaking leases to parks they do not own like Darien lake and frontier city. The capital expenditure to those parks have to be made by epr and six flags merely manages them. Not sure if the new chain will want to continue to focus on this type of agreement. La rhonde is also a lease but a much longer term one and sf has a bigger say in that parks capital expenditures. It is also not in close proximity to Canada's wonderland so it might be sf's way to keep a lockdown on the Canadian market Dorney park is weird in that it is so close to great adventure and is clear that great adventure is going to be one of new chains flagship parks. Dorney is a such a beautiful and charming park. It would be nice to see it being operated by a company like herschend entertainment. Knott's is close to magic mountain, but that park is a golden child in the portfolio. I see them making it along with magic mountain a multi day experience and making the two parks compliment each other, kinda like Disney and universal does with their parks in Orlando. Six flags America seems to still be stuck in the premier park era. You can feel how rushed, incoherent and put together at last moment it was when premier was rebranding their parks as six flags parks. That park reminds me of something out of the roller coaster tycoon game with midways going nowhere and being dead ends. They haven't really given that park too much love in recent years and i think that it is a lower attendance park. I would not be surprised if they sell it. California's great America is running on borrowed time, but on the plus side the majority of those rides will be most likely be relocated to other parks. Valley Fair though small is a huge part of Cedar Fair's history. As to whether that means anything to the new chain and a determining factor as to whether they keep or sell it is anyone's guess. I see them most likely being some former sf parks. The legacy six flags had a much sloppier business model and alot of those parks had a bargain discounted feel to them.

Since Darien Lake is only operated by Six Flags, it is easy money for Six Flags. From my understanding though, an ultimatum was delivered to the holding park owners. If they want Six Flags to continue to operate the park, they must finish the GCI Titan retrack for Predator, and reinstate 2 train operation on all roller coasters except Boomerang. It is also rumored that they make receive 1 or more relocated rides from other parks.

I don't see the problem with the La Ronde lease. The buyer would just take over the lease. La Ronde's location is absolutely unbeatable: it's downtown and is served by subway. It's like having a six flags in Central Park NYC. One problem with this park is the short season. There is a law that they cannot open during school hours which strikes out weekdays in May, June and September.

This is laughable, they want 55 million/yr, yet they mismanage their #1 park for the past 10 YEARS, Knott's Berry Farm. Consistently choosing not to give that park the damn Giga-Coaster already! Disneyland and Universal is RIGHT DOWN THE STREET, as well as sea world, Legoland & Magic Mtn. The area has almost 10 million people, and they invest in this park the least. Its frustrating how frigging cheap they are! I talked to their regional manager one day in the marketplace, his name is Raffi Kaprelyan, I asked a out a new front gate experience, his first response was "that would cost way too much money".... 1st rule of making money, you don't complain how much it costs, but what are the benefits and profit probability, guest satisfaction. I would expect some of the one off water parks to get sold. CGA is a dead man walking at the moment, SFA seems like a likely close/sale. But I think they are going to take a few seasons to see what synergies develop. SFGAm is my home park, but we got CP passes with all park add on this fall for 2025, plan is to visit all the parks that are in a day’s drive next year. That’s 6 ride parks. Everyone picks on MiAdv, because it’s small, but it wouldn’t surprise me it more profitable then most of the midsize parks. It has the advantage of less labor costs and general maintenance costs. I would guess legacy SF Parks are higher on the chopping block because of upgrade costs than legacy CF parks.

i am relay hopping they keep some of the original parks of both chains which would be Six Flags St. Louis witch was the 3rd park original built by six flags, Six Flags Over Georgia witch was the 2nd park original built by six flags, Six Flags Over Texas should be safe because it is in Texas, and last original park would be valleyfair witch when cedar point bought the park that is how cedar fair got it's name

We are 100% safe, it's located near the third largest city in the U.S. they're not going to do the same mistake like with AstroWorld Plus it has a lot of potential as a Theme Park

The fact SFGAm wasn’t mentioned as a top tier park is comical at best
@otterkeeper13
@otterkeeper13 9 сағат бұрын
I saw positive changes start with SFGAm end of 2023 season after the merger was announced, it’s getting a custom B&M, instead of a rumored clone. It’s also a top 20 park in attendance, it close but not too close proximity to KI and CP will help with cross attendance with the all parks pass. The park already has good bones but was mismanaged, and having its original sister park in the chain, they already have an understanding of its layout and flow.

Just remember this is an opinion and most likely not true. Do not take my opinions in this video as fact. I have a lot of missing knowledge to my Predictions on these parks as I’m not overly overly familiar with six flags parks. Mainly have knowledge and bias in Cedar fair parks

That’s not a Cedar Fair/ Six Flags park. Six Flags on the call today even talked about only parks that can justify an investment with ROI will be invested in. They need a strategic reason to invest.

Can you even spell? You need to go back to school. So many grammatical errors, run on sentence, and spelling mistakes. If you want to make your point, at least make it make sense. Even a 5 year old can form a better sentence than you.
