I also grew up near Overbrook in the 1970's, there was a juvenile detention center on the same grounds or next to it. It was such a sad place, I remember that sometimes they let the patients that weren't too bad off out for day passes and they would go to the White Castle for burgers. You could tell by their disheveled clothes that they were patients at Overbrook. I had a friend whose parents had him put in Overbrook because he had depression, parents could just put the kid in there if they wanted for pretty much any reason. Also parents got away with beating kids, it wasn't against the law then. So often the kids that were in there didn't start off with mental illness but after the stigma placed on them from being in an institution they would end up kind of broken.

so sad . all those poor ol things. :(

We need justice for those poor mentally unstable people who were neglected and affected dramatically by being institutionalized as they were...

Thanks! Some of the stuff is filmed by hand on a tripod but the long pans are filmed on a dolly.

we used to drink beers inside this place in the late 1980s before it was torn down. I vividly remember having wheelchair races down the hallways and 25 people on the rooftop drinking beer until 2am. We'd park cars in the doctor's quarter's garages and take an underground tunnel to the main wing. What a time we had. Sad that it's torn down now.

No wonder the damn cops started cracking down so much on anyone they find in the place.... LOL

I grew up a couple of miles from Overbrook. It was a creepy place when it was up and running and even creepier now. I can believe they havent torn it down and built condos in its place yet. When I was a kid everyone was scared of it. If you were bad you got sent to Overbrook. Spooky.
@EphemeralProductions8 жыл бұрын
They tried to. LOL but they (the condos) got blocked somehow and then it was decided that a park would be built there instead. That was several years ago though and nothing has yet materialized. So who the hell knows what will happen? LOL

I just read your beautiful book, what amazes me is the way nature will reclaim a building, Certain object's stand out, some one carried that chair out, put it down and never came back. Who put that fire extinguisher in the room and walked away?

I'm not one who has a very fond belief in ghosts but I will say I was attacked here before it was traumatizing..... not to mention I got Lymes disease from a tick on the grounds while I was attempting to sneak in to take photos and video. Cops were swirling the property so I couldn't just use the front door so I went instead through the tall overgrown grass towards the back of the facility. I got in okay g9t some killer pics and video but unfortunately those are now lost in time like this building and it's history once the committee decides to tear it down. Which they are currently still doing to this day at a slow pace.

Not a scary place at all I have been in and out of the place...Now the people that it housed? I personally know a person who was housed in Overbrook before it closed He told me story's about doctor's trying to keep him there for money government funding and some other weird happenings but he was medicated So is what I was told true or just the medicated mind ??? My friend also broke in years later looking for records That's part of the weird stuff He told me he had to before they destroyed the place or he'd be trapped ???

to the creator of the video: did you run into any unexplained occurrences or things you still dont' know what they were, while in the buildings?
@AntiquityEchoes8 жыл бұрын
We have had extremely few experiences in over a decade of filming abandoned places that were without explanation. However, this place was an exception of sorts. We have a short video shot on infrared in the basement where we captured a vert eerie shadow at the end of the hallway. Here's the video link - kzbin.info/www/bejne/gorJdaKHbLhpnck
