East fortune opened in 1922 as a hospital, it then became a sanatorium when tuberculosis swept through Scotland.
During WW2, it was transformed into a military hospital and the TB patients were transferred to Bangour hospital.
Finally it was used to house long term geriatric care patients, before closing its doors in 1997.

You two have guts of steel. I spent 34 years working in hospitals (as a nurse). Several creepy paranormal-type experiences in my career. Very unsettling indeed. ❤

I used to work at East Fortune Hospital back in the late 80's when I lived in North Berwick. Really creepy vibes when I had to wait for the bus home after a late shift, especially on dark nights during Winter. 👻

My best, and most favorite job I ever had was working in a state psychiatric hospital in the US. I would definitely have lived on the grounds if possible. The grounds were beautiful, and I was not afraid of the patients (we gave each other healthy respect).

Whooa this might be one of your best videos yet. 😮👏🏻👏🏻 When you mentioned how it felt with only a window as an exit it reminded me of one of my explores. It was an old school built I think around 1900, in about the same condition as this video. I had to get in through a busted out down stairs window. It was super scary and beautiful in there. I made my way upstairs snapping pics along the way and stopped in one room to take a picture of the sunlight hitting a window with a big missing chunk of glass. I turned the camera around to see how it came out and noticed a huge guy in it heading across the grass straight for the building I was in. I looked down and saw him out there. If I hadn’t taken that photo I never would’ve noticed him, and he was walking pretty fast. 😭 I swung my camera up under my arm and started running. Down a long hall, down the decaying stairs, halfway down another long hall, across a huge room and then I somehow catapulted myself through the window fairly gracefully to my surprise, landed on my feet in the leaves and started walking. I looked back only once and he was almost to the window. 😬 Made it to my car and blissed out on the adrenaline for about 10 mins til I was calm enough to drive. 😆

I lived in an old Victorian asylum in capel le ferne ,I lived in a bunker on hawkinge aerodrome for a month and have explored many abandoned buildings in the 70's .The only things you will ever encounter are in your head . The most dangerous things out and about at night are other humans .Keep up the exploring but cut the spooks bit .thanks

Hi Sam and Jess. That was creepy 😳 😬 I could never work in an asylum. It would break my heart to see patients suffering 😢 and I would also be scared of violent patients! I just wished that people didn't vandalise and put gravetie everywhere 😕 it was an amazing place with so much to see and explore 😮 I really felt such sadness as I have watched several documentaries on asylums and the suffering of the patients in the old days 😢 take care buds xx

I do love this stuff, but I always take what you find with a massive pinch of salt since people, or other erm, visitors polute/tamper with the environments so much just for video clout/media pictures. Keep it up though, it's great to see the old styles and arcitecture, and those are things that are far harder to tamper with! :)

It's interesting the amount of people who comment how awful sanitariums and asylums must have been. Now that they have all been shutdown in the US, homelessness has become a epidemic. Alot of whom have untreated mental health issues, living on the street in terrible conditions. Many of the "community outreach groups" are known to take advantage of them as well. They would be alot better of living on the beautiful estate of a sanitarium with their acres and acres of property. With proper medical treatment and daily activities of all sorts. These (asylums/sanitariums) were a reasonable solution. When health care became more privatized, quality of life lost priority in these places. A shame that they have just done away with these giant gov run facilities without sorting out a alternative. Now the people whom used to live in these places are homeless for the most part.
