The worst one I think was the captain of sunken MV Sewol ship in South Korea. 476 passengers, 306 died, and 250 of them were high school students. He told those kids to stay inside while the ship was sinking and left them when first rescue arrived.

So admire the entertainment staff! Their brave actions made such a vital difference, the guitar player taking over an empty bridge was nothing short of heroic. Had he not sent the mayday call, those passengers would have perished. Well done brave people!

Heroic efforts from the entertainers and SADF pilots saved everyone ❤️ As a kid living in EL at the time I recall everyone's shock and disgust for the captain.

Wow, this captain was nearly as worse as captain Schettino of the Costa Concordia. There over 30 people lost their lives. Another disaster with a negligent Greek crew was the sinking of the ferry MS Express Samina in 2000 which hit a rock off Paros island in Greece. The captain and the bridge crew were watching a football match and had put the hip on autopilot. Over 80 people died in the capsizing. At least in those incidents the captains were convicted and sent to prison.

Also MV Sewol - a South Korean ferry. Not up to safety codes with a lot of unapproved add-ons. The captain was among the first to abandon ship and told passengers (including a bunch of high schoolers) to stay in their cabins and that everything was fine - even when it was clear to crew the ship would sink. Most of the passengers were trapped and lost their lives.

The entertainment staff had to take over for the Captain, crew? It almost sounds like they did not even call for help till the Entertainment person said “Mayday”. Hours after the crew slunk away? (Or am I mistaken)? So ship was badly damaged? They hid the damage? That caused sinking? 14 hours, close to shore? I would expect a less dangerous rescue could have been done if Captain immediately signaled distress, gave accurate info, conditions, souls, filled lifeboats once recovery ships near. I won a cruise. I didn’t go.

Disgusting behaviour of the so called “captain”. What a self centred coward! He even left his own dog and canary to die…….luckily the dog was rescued and the canary was freed. The crew who left 1st were cowards, but I feel they panicked and had no leadership. Thanks to the real hero’s and rescuers noone died.
