Boy, this is great....Okay, first, I've been trying to find one for years.....I'm looking for a white one. As a kid growing up, I use to ride around in one, my Dad bought one new in 1968, we had it for 3 or 4 years. Your car looks amazing original. Like the body side moldings are still on the car. Even the cover and hole is in place for the jack stand.......so many of these get rust and repainted and Morons bondo over the jack stand hole......you've got a nice one to build on......that even looks like original paint! And the interior door panels are all great too...... Thing to note, they do rust, but your rust isn't bad at all. The neat thing is it's original, the hub caps, the steel wheels, the little clips to hold the cover on the car. The engine bay is all original, no conversion to something else....I'm thinking it's worth about 7 to 9 grand. If you get it running, possibly more, it looks like it could run....if it ran...10 or 11 k for sure. Fully Restored, the go from 30 to 40K

Why is it you don’t detail the chrome very well. I noticed on a lot of your jobs. S.O.S. Pads will shine chrome and remove most of the surface rust. To me that’s what “”DETAIL “ means.

Good job fellas. Some steel wool would have done wonders for that chrome bumper and chrome trim pieces. Definitely give it a try it will improve the overall look of the vehicle. Wont remove the years of pitting but will definitely remove the brown staining
@BobPegram2 жыл бұрын
Use 000 or 0000 steel wool if you use steel wool. The visible rust on the chrome will go. Then seal the chrome somehow so it doesn't reappear immediately.

Had one for a couple years and it was more fun than a barrel of monkeys: It was fun to drive and provided the sports car experience on a budget. That 1600 engine with 96HP was lively enough to make for a spirited drive. Enjoy yours and have fun. As for value, I'd guess that one in concours condition could be worth 15-18K and even a "roach" should be worth a few grand. IMO, only...

I had a Dotson 1969 1600 now there is two styles of 1969 roaders both 1600s there was also a 2000 so they’re not exactly the same when you buy parts. You gotta make sure you get the right one. Mine had 27000 original mileage on it and it looked like it came out of the showroom.

I used to race against the 1600’s and could win with my AH 100-6 but the 2000 hit the track and the extra 50 HP and the independent suspension did me in! I had to slide the corners and the 2000 just powered right through them!

you can really clean up that rusty pitted chrome if you polish it with a wadded up piece of aluminum foil and clean water. I wouldnt do it on a show car but for the barn finds it will really bring it back and get rid of the brown staining

@namenotavailable112 жыл бұрын
The problem with that car is that, what you will spend to get it restored will exceed the value of a restored Datsun 1600 Roadster. It's really a car for someone who likes to restore this type of car, and not the money it will cost. Needs new frame, body parts, top, maybe engine and trans? If someone gave you $2500. I would take it and run like hell.

Inline 4, about 96 horsepower IIRC.
@instigatedeye59412 жыл бұрын
Could probably get 12,000.00 for that car if you sold it in California, people would pay that purely because it's complete, and not to mention, anything that's a Datsun, or a pre-smog, instantly doubles the price tag here.
