Back in the 50s and 60s they used to dump old cars onto the riverbanks to stop erosion in my city. The river eventually pulled them in and washed them down. Now I go to the river and there is a surprising amount of old car parts, like cool old cars from the 40s, some full car bodies and frames. It gives a very 'fallout' feeling seeing the old half buried torn up early style cars. I always think about that; That car was once a shiny brand new machine rolling out of the factory. Someone chose it and drove it home excitedly, showed his neighbors and friends, drove to get groceries and take kids to school. Maybe his teenage kid took it for a date, or prom. Now it's a rusting piece of metal, corroding back into the ground.

The man looked along the skyline, an area built by his own kind. Monuments of great importance, strides in technology, and even the wealthy flaunting their wealth lay before him in the form of buildings. Workers would toil away for grueling hours within, earning a wage only barely above living in the slums. Some accepted it, some reveled in it. Some... well, some took to making more buildings themselves. Nothing sane existed in those buildings now. Ever since humanity had started looking at the stars, the stars had payed no heed to them. Uncaring, as the void should have been. Stars were used for traveling across the surface, the sun used to tell time. The moon helped tell of months and seasons, and was one of the very founding of humanity's sense of permanence. Then the sky fell and opened. The stars came to earth, burning its surface and leaving much of the polluted earth uninhabitable. The moon had opened up, revealing a maw filled to the brim with impossible amounts of teeth, and a tongue so long that it could have wrapped it around he planet. And then the sun came in, the giant ball of plasma and fire opening a singular, wide eye. It had been only days, but the sky would not stop. Large ropy appendages reached from the sky, just barely out of sight due to the clouds. Sometimes, you could see a large maw in the sky, scooping up any living being it could find and doing god-knows-what to it. The screams were always unholy. And so, the man stood on the building that was long abandoned, looking over the tranquil expanse that only barely hinted at the threat of danger ever-present. His cat lay beside him, a helpful ally in times of need. "We need to go. It comes closer." The cat said.

Now, in bad news, I have confirmation that society has collapsed. Completely. The evidence points to it having collapsed at least half a century ago. I haven’t the foggiest as to why. No one I meet seems to be able to remember the pre-collapse period except for the occasional elder, so that points to it having occurred at least 50-100 years ago, probably longer as those memories seem to have significant mythologizing behind them. In good news, I’ve got hydroponics up and running with power from the reactor, and I have managed to find several old instructions for the nearby geothermal generator, so I should have power running to the area as soon as I can train the locals. There’s also evidence that whatever society that was here before was significantly more advanced than when and where I originated, and there might be an inactive AI for the generator. If my experience with these kinds of things is appropriate in this scenario, I’ll only be here for another month or so before being returned or sent elsewhere and elsewhen, but I’ve been stuck for several years in such places/times before.

"I stand up here on the roof of my apartment with my friend Spiffy the cat looking across at the abandoned city so huge and with many burroughs scattered out and many districts all empty of life.... from what I have seen from here is during the day no one or thing is on the streets and I occasionally go down on the street but I don't go to far from my building and I always leave Spiffy behind to protect the place she's very good at protecting the place and I feed her good cat food for service.... I usually go to the corner convenient stores and such and with a cart I use I fill it up as full as I can get with the essential foods I need and for Spiffy as I said only the best.... I only go out between the hours of 7 o'clock AM until 5 o'clock PM as it starts to get dark around 8 o'clock and it usually takes me 6 or more trips bringing the food and other supplies to the apartment building and I never do any sightseeing because I try not to waste time.... now at night I lock up the building and turn on all the alarms because while this appears to be an abandoned city at night however when stand up on the roof staring down with my binoculars and telescopes I notice shadows but never see any people but this is the reason I stay cautious and so does Spiffy.... it's getting late and after scrounging around food and other supplies throughout the neighborhood I'm really tired and with the alarms all set and within the several years that I've been here nobody ever broken in so I've been lucky and very blessed and with my friend Spiffy keeping me company I'm okay, well I'm going to bed and Spiffy while asleep is always alert,so good night, stay safe, stay warm and dry and God Bless You and THANK'S."

To everyone who's studying with this music: Checklist: • A bottle of water, at least 1liter. Your brain works better if it has enough water and drinking helps you to concentrate💧 • Your charger. You sometimes don't even notice that your device's battery is going down, so better have it plugged in all the time🔋 • Your headphones. You will be able to focus more with headphones, because it blocks background noises. Also, if it's a late night study session, you won't wake up anyone🎧 • a tea or coffee. Coffee keeps you awake, green or black tea can make you feel more awake as well.☕ • Your study/work stuff: your laptop/tablet/phone , a few pens, paper or whatever you need.⌨ •Anything else you could need, what about a heat pad, a blanket, a good lamp, your pet so you have a study buddy 🐈 Reminder:After an hour, you should stand up and walk a bit around. Better stop the music or put on different music for the break. Open your window, even if it's cold outside. Fresh air will make it better, trust me. You could also lay your head down on your desk for ten minutes and listen to a podcast. Or, if you have to read a book, listen to the audiobook of it. You can also listen to the audiobook while doing another thing, that's even better than listening to music while reading the book. I hope y'all had a good day, if not, that's okay too. Remember to take care of yourself and try to get some sleep tonight 😴🧸 (This comment isn't originally mine, but I think it can help a lot of people :))

Some writing for ya all: "Day 18961, I got something exciting news today. Here is Scavenger 988, my name is Kyle and I got my fellow companion here with me, Phenix. Hey Phenix, say hello for the audience. *Meow*. That's a good boy! Anyways, I'll be serious now. For real. I made it beyond the Wall. Yep, you won't believe it. After 18961 days of trying and failing, I finally got over that cursed Wall. Now I am sending this on every possible frequency and I dunno if everyone who's listening knows what Wall I mean so, I shall explain. You all remember the War? You sure do. I hate what my country had done to keep us 'safe'. They built a Wall around the country, made sure no one and nothing could climb it and sealed every possible way of getting out. Everyone within the Wall is a slave... But those who had the Wall to be build. There was thousands of us, Climbers, those who tried to climb over the wall. Five million Climbers died trying to see the world on the other side. So, as you can see, this is quite the achievement! How I managed to climb over with a cat? Luckily I got a backpack that I left just downstairs in my temporary shelter. I could never leave Phenix behind in that hell hole. Never. What I am seeing now is just a dead city, but I've learned over the years that what is called a dead city is never really emtpy. There might be just terrors that the goverment had told us about, or actual people. I am asking you, all of you, if you are getting this, please respond. I need to know that there is hope for us, for humanity. I need to know, before cancer gets me. Please. And I just remembered, it's my birthday today. 7th of March. What a birthday present! Getting on the other side of the wall. I- I will be ending now. I got the whole city to search and if you won't reach out to me, perhaps I will find you. Memento Mori and Kyle out."

Field report: 5/22/2789 "We've completed our last sweep of the city. My report is still the same, no one. Nothing. Not a damn soul. But everything is still running down here, vid screens still running, the bar had fresh beer on tap, food was still cooking in processors, cloths still left on racks, in fact there's not sign of any missing personal belongings in any living quarters we searched. We doubled checked on each sweep, found no sign of a attack or abduction, no bodes, and no sign of a fire fight. But what gets me most, there's no life here. No birds, insects, animals of any kind can be heard down here. Drone sweeps and orbital scans also confirm no life forms on the surface or in the oceans. I can't understand it, this is a M class garden world densely populated and had been colonized for 17 years, how can 22 million people seemingly vanish over night? The motion sensors are going off again, more ghost readings, nothing's ever there. But despite the complete absence of life, I know we're being watched, I can feel it. Like shadows screaming in agony and we can't here them or see them... I'm tired, I think we've all had it with this rock and ready to get of it, get back into having solid steel under me then dead earth. If nothing but to escape the nightmares I've been having down here, I think Daniels said he had them too, just a empty, void landscape calling to us.... Just thinking about it is making me tired rather than afraid... Maybe I should catch some sleep... Just to see it.. just to touch that void again. It's warmer there then the emptiness here." Last known report from Recon team: Further communications with Recon team have failed to be established: Level 1 Qurantine has been placed over Oragi 8: No further reports at this time:

It came out of nowhere and changed our cities into barren, silent slaughter houses... Cadavres, lingering and laying here and there, the now breathless remnants of a dreamy past, rotting over sewers, on rooftops, in abandoned asylums. Back when the streets were bustling with hustlers and hustling with lovers, the joys of life were taken for granted. Now, in the springtime of my life, I rest my gaze on the unresting sorrow of the few men, the even fewer women who survived. The plague is the new hustler, the fresh destructive lover of an old race, one who has always chosen darkness, one who has always complained, childish, foolish and selfish, always complained about the fruits of the very darkness it chose.

We’re living in a Distopia right now. What you’re dreaming of is freedom and returning to basic survival needs rather than putting monetary value to worthless things. You want to have a true human experience again, rather than continue existing in our current slave system. It makes sense, and it is completely natural.

I've had dreams like this. But instead of the man with his gun and the cat, I saw two children walking down an icy road having no clue how the environment which used to be a place they called home, became abandoned. It was a post-apocalyptic dream. Pretty cool if I say so :)

He had endured much and many times wagered his life. Against the elements, against his own bloody-handed kind and against other, even darker things. When thousands of days had blistered his feet, stained his clothes and salted his eyes, he had carried on, but now, he stopped. For here, at the precipice of that yawning abyss, he looked out over the dead city of man and saw the truth of it for the first time. The vast graveyard of great, concrete idols and their empty, unfeeling eyes. In whose name we made sacrifice and preyed on each other. The skyline rising as malevolent, grey talons. Grasping at the dying sun, even as it drowned in the shadows of our monuments. It was there, watching the last light fade that he knew; civilization is merely another season in the savagery that always was, and always will be.

“My head hurts...” “That’s because we’re passing by a city within the standstill zone. Nothing there is natural. They say the sky was ruptured and ash dominates the once pure air. That place is encased in the eternal. It lost its hold on time after the war. It makes me sick with fear even going near the outskirts of that primordial hellscape. I don’t doubt the metallic energy that flows from it would have an effect on our physical health...and your head.” “Uh...dude, I meant like...my head hurts because I didn’t get enough sleep last night and I’m hangry. Gimme some Tylenol.” “.....I seriously hate you.”
