It's been 315 days since the global outbreak, 187 days since I realized I might be the only survivor, and 3 days since the two of us found each other in the wreckage of the world and regained hope. Dear 2020, It was no one's fault, yet we were all completely guilty. Too blinded by political unrest to see the grave future right in front of us. Too blinded from the hatred that grew in our hearts that separated humanity just because of the color of our skin... the way we talk... the lessons we've learned... the place we grew up. We were practically aliens to each other... perhaps this was the reason for our downfall. It started one night, hundreds of people in the outcasts of Africa were dropping dead within minutes. Nobody elsewhere cared, it wasn't their family, and surely it wasn't themselves. The next day, millions were dying worldwide from this terrible new virus. Nobody was spared from the monstrosities of loss and blood. Everyone who caught it, died terrible deaths... a 100% mortality rate. Those who survived? They fought for themselves, stealing and killing anything in their path. Children were separated from their parents, left to grow up alone in a world completely destroyed by their predecessors. They killed, murdered, and plundered to survive, no mercy was given. Nobody thought it could get worse than that... but then, it happened. The undead rose from their graves. Anyone who had caught this virus and died from it was soon consumed and controlled. Many more people died that week, but the ones who survived? We finally came together, put our differences aside, and fought alongside each other to preserve humanity. But it was already too late for that. I watched as my comrades died, each and everyone of them taken by death's hand. Later, I screamed out to the streets only to find them empty... I was truly alone... the last living survivor. Anyone who reads this, be warned. We mustn't fight each other... instead, we must stand by each other till the end, or else, our hypocrisy might determine our end. Perhaps your parallel universe will survive... but it is too late for us. Signing off for one final time, The Last Human Written on March 18, 2904 - 679 days into the outbreak

This is absolutely FANTASITC. It 's like you are surviving an apocalyptic pandemic, scavenging the ruins of a once great city, feeling the hopelessness set in as the days pass and your supplies dwindle. Alone, craving human contact and company, yet terrified of the dangers posed by others in this now no longer new, brutal and selfish world. The gray skies above you darkening as it begins to rain and you make your way back to your hideout, your shelter, cold and weary. Despair setting in, knowing that your situation is not likely to change anytime soon. (Set to "Dawn was breaking")

I'm typing this as i listen to: 16:22 . It truly IS one of the most beautiful pieces of music I've ever heard. It portrays in my head; the beauty of the madness of the end and that what is going to happen next is no doubt irreversible. It cannot be undone but it may be for the better. Leaving behind everything I had built, cared for and loved, all in a heartbeat. Flashbacks of the reminiscent past serenade my mind like bolts of electricity, moments of our once fulfilled life. Beneath the countless setting suns and the morning stars; time spent with you, I remember it all. I'm leaving it all to you in this world. My life here is truly done for. But I'm not giving up. My stubborn soul will live on. My next venture is to the beyond. Not the nearest planet but the next plane of existence. Haven't you realised yet? I was meant for the stars not the soil. Time for a restart. A life worth living again, People worth admiring, Waking up with no regrets nor sorrow, Being loved unconditionally once again, I want to experience it all, In a perpetual state of loop, till the fabric of reality itself pulls its curtains on me. I will to keep on living, I want to keep on loving, I will to keep on fighting for what I want and believe in, just not here anymore.

This hits on another level realizing the human instinct inside that controls our fears, the one that is both harder to restrain and to let out in the modern era, the survival instinct to purge the weaker that dares to tempt us, the feeling to help us tread the path on the game we we refer to as life. This instinct is in everyone, from the day your born, till the last hour of your life, in the end we sadly use it on the ones that have been mistaken, rumored, fround upon, betrayed, forgotten, abandoned, cheated on, exiled, outcasted, or simply tainted by the others in the same uniform, clothes, or social media networks we use. Because of this instinct we forget about the same humanity that the one in front of us has and the same for them looking at us, looking at the men and women in blue. The ones to try and uphold the law for those are doing it not cause they want to but it's because it's their job. They can have the same beliefs as you but are being treated horribly because of one of their fellow brothers or sisters had done their job irresponsibly. We as humans are a species that will travel one of two paths, either the path to forgive, remember, and move on to give the children of the future a chance to be better than the people of today, or to travel the path to pass down the same mentality's that we have as the people of today to taint the minds of future generations to live and teach their kids that other's that doesn't share the same beliefs are the enemy as how people in today's riots bring their kids to witness the horrid actions used to defend themselves and others in the same perdicument both parties are going through. You reading this comment communicating by another comment, what path would you take? Speaking person to person converted to comment to comment if you do chose to leave a comment be weary for those who are weak minded as you could be targeted being deemed an enemy for not having the same beliefs as they have.

They had such a knowledge of science and technology, they could even extend their own lifespans, and prevent the oneself from dying." "They could actually... save people from death?" "The advancements of technology is a pathway to many outcomes that some consider to be unnatural." "What happened to them?" "They became so powerful. The only thing they were afraid of was... losing all of their immortality. Which eventually, of course, they did. Unfortunately, they had harnessed the power of the atom, which resulted in the conception of a phenomenal weapon. And upon the end of a third world-war that involved every country, they used this very weapon upon one other, and killed each other off until not a single human was left alive. Ironic. They could extend their live own spans, yet couldn't even prevent their own extinction." "Is it possible to learn more about their sciences?" "Not from a Jedi."

What I imagined while listening: A girl walks through streets, her filthy blonde hair swaying back and forth. She's covered in dirt, mud, and grease. Her clothes are nothing but rags with arm and leg holes. The homes around her are nothing but pieces of cardboard put together for shelter. She grabs a knife that rests on her belt made of rope, and spins around, stabbing her attacker in the chest. A woman, who was trying to sneak up on her from behind stumbles backward with a knife protruding from her chest. She thought she could maybe get away with stealing a young girl, but no. The girl glares at the woman and wrenches the blade from her skin. She rubs the blood off on her brown tunic, and continues walking as the woman falls to the dirt ground and slowly bleeds to death. Then, a boy sits in a shack. Slightly better built than the rest of the cardboard homes. He is at a table with whirring machines sitting in front of him. Each and every one is on. Some make buzzing noises, others have bright screens. He adjusts nobs, and pushing buttons. Hoping for some sort of signal. Maybe communication. No one responds. After hours of waiting he rests his face in his dirt covered hands. His fingernails are cracked, and dirty. A long scarf hangs from his neck, almost reach the floor of the shed. (That's just what I saw happening in my head. Hope you liked it.)

Finch: I want to ask a question, Dominic. I don't care if you answer me or not. I just want to say this aloud... The question I want to ask is about St Mary's and Three Waters. The question that's kept me up for the last 24 hours, the question I have to ask, is: What if the worst, the most horrifying, biological attack in this country's history was not the work of religious extremists? Dominic: Well, I don't understand. We know it was. They were caught. They confessed. Finch: And they were executed, I know. And maybe that's really what happened. But I see this chain of events, these coincidences... and I have to ask: What if that isn't what happened? What if someone else unleashed that virus? What if someone else killed all those people? Would you really want to know who it was? Dominic: Sure. Finch: ... Even if it was someone working for this government? That's my question. If our own government was responsible for what happened at St Mary's and Three Waters... if our own government was responsible for the deaths of almost a hundred thousand people... would you really want to know?

The ground rang with thousands of footsteps, even the soldiers behind the guns were victims. Behind my running footsteps I heard a loud thump on the floor, a quick scream and a gunshot, and just like that the scream ended. As I was running I smashed into another girl, we both fell to the ground and I looked at her for a second, wondering who she was, how she ended up here and what she had left behind. My thoughts were cut short by the sound of a gun firing, the sound pierced my ear and my mind and swiftly brought me back to reality. All around me people were running for their lives, the youngest might have been nine. Their screaming consumed the air, I couldn't remember what silence sounded like anymore. Behind me lay a huge campsite, home to thousands of prisoners. It hadn't even been 2 weeks before the grounds were perpetrated and the doors forced open. No one knew who had saved us, they left without a trace causing mayhem and the start of a terrifying witch hunt. I stumbled to my feet once again, the swarm of whizzing bodies threatening to unsteady me. I began to pick up my pace, the forest was only a few metres away if I could get there maybe I could hide behind some of the trees until the situation died down. My legs took me faster and faster and BAM I felt the force of someone's body on mine but I kept running, SLAM, another person knocked into me almost tackling me to the ground. They didn't even notice, I glanced to my right and saw them continue to run consumed by fear and muttering prayers for safety. 10 metres away now from the forest I could make it. 9 metres, almost there, 7 metres, I guessed. I felt a sense of relief as the forest edged closer. Although it didn't guarantee my safety I saw it as some kind of haven, if I got there I'd be fine, a complete lie that I was willing to believe. My legs began to ache and my worn out soles were becoming ever more noticeable and I felt my laces begin to loosen. Almost there I told myself, a few more steps. As I brought my foot solid to the ground, mid run, my vision began to blur and I felt the strong force of someone knock me to the ground, my head hit the floor with a strong momentum and my back tensed from the force of the fall. I tried to get back up but something was on me with the weight of a rock, holding me in my place. When my eyes regained sight I saw a man standing over me, holding a gun to my face, he was wearing 'the' uniform, apart of the white army. He aimed his gun at me, hands steady and eyes straight, ready to shoot. He looked about my age, maybe a bit older give or take a couple of years, I wondered if he was patriotic or just brainwashed, or maybe those things were one in the same. I was that man now that I heard scream earlier, now it would be my screams cut short, and some onlooker would continue to run like I did praying they wouldn't share the same fate, but they would, we all would. It couldn't end like this could it, I was almost there, almost safe. It's a strange thing to want life to end so badly one minute and when your met with death suddenly the option isn't so appealing. I heard a woman's voice speak up loud and clear "shoot me, go on" I didn't even recognise myself, confident and assured, something I never had the strength to be. "Go on, do it". He held the gun closer to my head now, his eyes narrowed and he gripped the gun tighter. "Do it, I've always wanted to kill myself so go on put me out of my misery. Now it will be easier and quicker". As I said these words I realised they wern't completely said for self-preservation. If I was honest with myself, apart of me didn't care about life, hadn't for years, I didn't care for the pain or the hardships or the constant rollercoaster of difficulties. I remembered all my family issues, friend issues self issues. I could let this happen I thought, I could let him shoot me, I'm scared but it will be quick, then no more pain, no more hardships, no more of anything That's who I was, I wasn't a fighter, I never had been. Maybe occasionally I was able to pick myself back up, but on the whole I guess I was pretty weak. His face hardened, his finger pressing down on the trigger. "Go on, at least the blood won't be on my hands". This was it either I would die right now, or make it to that forest, that forest that promised nothing but more pain and fear. I felt his grip begin to ease slightly and he brought back his gun by a few millimetres, still directing it firmly towards my head. For a second he froze, he seemed confused and conflicted. I didn't waste anytime, I snatched my arms free and pushed him away, taking advantage of his hesitation, I decided that, this could be one of the rare moments when I did fight back, but no promises for future I told myself. I ran into the forest urging my legs to carry me faster and deeper into the enchanting thicket of trees and flowers. It was eerie how the beauty of the nature here contrasted the events. Gunshots pierced my ears, I turned around and saw him shooting at me. I ran deeper into the green cloud of leaves trees and bushes doing my best not to hit any. The roots on the ground tried to trip me up and I was swiftly met by huge tree trunk as I tried to steady myself. If the gunshots didn't get me I was sure one of these trees would. I ran behind a trunk and it caught the bullet for me, reminding myself to thank it later. As my foot slammed down on the muddy ground a bullet attacked a white flower, ruining it's perfect harmony. The image of a destroyed forest, once green and enchanting, flashed before my eye. My hair whipped in the wind as I ran and my body aches with stitches. As I began to slow down to quickly catch my breath I shrieked as I felt a hand clasp around my wrist tightly and pull me strongly behind a bush. My knees scraped the ground, the friction ripping my jeans, revealing bloodied scrapes and scratches. I winced. "shh" the girl said her hand releasing it's grip. I scrambled to my knees, leaning on my toes to reduce the pain and watched as the boy walked past the bush that hid us. his eyes scanned the surrounding trees, gun held eye level. Every breath I made was magnified by a thousand so I didn't release the next one. He walked ahead into the depths of the forest stopped to glance around and then slowly jogged back to the sight of terror outside the camp. I looked around, there were no other soldiers here...yet. I turned towards my saviour "I'm Jenny" she whispered. I glanced at her, her eyes were a deep deep brown, almost black but soft and kind, they contrasted her pale skin and golden blonde hair which was ruffled and messy. I guessed she had more than one encounter today with death. She reminded me of my sister. "I'm D-" I suddenly remembered what my dad told me, 'don't trust anyone'. "Urmm dorothea" she narrowed her eyes at me with suspicion, she knew it was a fake name why did I choose that name. "what did your parents hate you or something". I felt a short laugh come out. "Something like that". "Well dorothea your welcome, I just saved your life". The image of the boys gunshots at me pierced my memory "thanks" I replied " I owe you one". She smirked " if you live long enough to". I looked at her, the shock clearly visible on my face, her comment took me by surprise, a bit of a sick joke. That wasn't an option though, "don't worry I will". My voice was teasing but one look at my face and she could see the sternness in my eyes. I remembered my life before, remembered going to college. Professor Cornen's words rang in my ears, 'it's important to remember history is just the retelling of the same story'. I missed his history lessons, I wondered where he was now and I hoped he was safe. I wondered if he knew then that something like this could ever happen again... Edit: thank you everyone for the kind comments, you've made my day ❤️

What a great story! Very engaging and exciting! I enjoyed it immensely. Thank you for taking the time to share this with us. Writer to writer: keep writing, for words tell the tales of those whose lives we cannot live, so express the beauty and intricacies of it well. :)

Ugh, Outbreak is such a GREAT opening for this collection(Used to listen to just that on repeat). Listened to this while writing and 1 hr just FLEW past. Works so well for my main character, even more so as I am at the point where he disregards the life of others as they once did to him. Edit: This made it so easy to write for 3 hours. Thanks for this!!

"If humans one day become extinct from a catastrophic collision, there would be no greater tragedy in the history of life in the universe. Not because we lacked the brain power to protect ourselves but because we lacked the foresight. The dominant species that replaces us in post-apocalyptic Earth just might wonder, as they gaze upon our mounted skeletons in their natural history museums, why large headed Homo sapiens fared no better than the proverbially peabrained dinosaurs." -Neil deGrasse Tyson

"we always think of the apocalypse as a sudden event, a great fall into madness, but this one, this one was a slow, latent event. there were numerous warnings, all around us, but we choose to ignore them, as we couldn't bear their weight. it's hard to tell when was the turning point, when was all hope of returning to what we called "normal" gone ?" -me, I guess.

I just love the artwork on this & other kinds of videos like it, just the emotion in her eyes & the stark contrast between the metal & the skin, it's so beautiful - if it was a poster for a dark dystopian movie or show, I'd watch it.

Some of these tracks, especially the first four, really remind me of the Detroit Become Human OST, especially the sections relating to Markus and Connor. They're quite synthesised (though not entirely) technological tracks, and they evoke feelings of a bleak and dystopian future, but are also kind of awe inspiring.

The girl is looking up and to the right as if something is happening. You can almost imagine. The buzz and whir of a fleet of planes approaching like a flock of birds. while you sit shell shocked yet amazed as the planes twist and turn in an amazing dogfight the sky a vibrant light blue. The atmosphere bright as it is dark as attack boats cross the river infront of you. You see a soldier his face bright and full of life in a dark time. He sees you and smiles not noticing the enemy approaching his fellow soldiers yelling the explosive cannon mounted on the enemy boat destroys the soldiers boat before smashing into it sending it spiraling in your direction it crashes into a tree next to you blood spurts in your face from the man's body. You look up again to see the last of your country men's planes explode into a ball of fury as the blue sky turns red. Flares land all around you you frantically run to escape death but you know there is nothing you can do. Your world turns orange and red for a mere second before going pitch black. Your last thought being of the man who's blood covered you.

We as humans think we are the best, most intelligent things on our planet but look at us now, destroying what we have worked so hard to achieve over thousands of years just to fail. That just shows you that every year, every month, every day the log we have been walking on is getting skinner and skinner until it becomes a twig and not being able to support our weight and someday that twig will snap and down goes the twig civilization falls with it as well. The truth is that we need to start over go back when we weren't destroying ourselves live the life we were ment to live.

100% this is the truth!! There's so many messages from years before we were alive to warn and educate us. Now we're wasting our lives and our precious time just to work until we die. Instead of food or water being the most valuable thing, it's money. What humans need for survival now has a price on it that didn't have a price way back when. Our connection to Earth that we once had is shattered. The future definitely won't be good (and no I'm not some religious nut- just going based on what we've placed value on over the years and old cryptic messages left behind). Instead of striving to continue our survival, learning more about the world and universe we live in, helping our own kind that are in need, and bettering ourselves, we're just slaving away for something that has no actual value other than what some selfish humans have placed on it. Slaving away for greedy people who don't care about our existence. The ones at the top have lost their humanity. So yes- there's many kinds of evil that exists, and it's winning as we speak. Part of that evil (or "sin") is the selfishness and greed that humans posess. And also choosing to excuse that behavior or not acknowledging it.. Look at it as a theory if you want. But I truly believe it.
