This cottage resort was a happening place back in its day. This 10 cottage resort was built in the early 1940’s. Each cottage had their own kitchen, bathroom and 2 bedrooms with beautiful views of the lake. People that stayed here enjoyed great fishing, campfires, barbecuing and family time relaxing on the water. They once had a bait and tackle shop, camp store, gas, docks, boat rentals and a nice little beach. Looking at the drone footage the camp store, beach and docks are no longer here. Now the resort sits abandoned and forgotten. They were trying to sell this property by “power of sale” and I now heard it sold so I hope one day maybe they can reopen a new resort here but most likely the new owner will demolish the cottages and build a new cottage or house on the property.

Marce I absolutely agree. My grandparents bought a cottage early 1960's in Georgian Bay area, I love it and spent most of my childhood summers there in the 90's... but there are SO many things falling apart now, I have lately given up hope of "restoration".. only thing to do is reclaim what is salvageable such as wibdows, doors, the lamps and cedar panelling from the 1960's, and rebuild new and re-incorporate what was left

The wood (ceilings, floors, walls) in those cabins is GORGEOUS. If I were to buy a property like that, I would insist on saving as much wood as possible, if I felt the buildings couldn't be saved and had to be torn down. Then I would re-use the wood to build new cabins (or to help restore the ones that could be saved.) Thanks for the tour.

Must be many happy memories for families from trips to this place. Much of the 1950's style is still apparent (the pink and white asphalt bathroom tile; armchairs and remaining furniture) but looks like in the 70's some "updating" was done here and there (the oranges and green linoleum flooring). Overall, the place doesn't seem to have ever had a total updating--I wonder why not? Eventually, without modernizing, I can imagine people might have considered it shabby and stopped coming, but if this is true, what a shame. Someone should redevelop the lovely spot!

I can’t be the only out there who would LOVE to go to a place like this ~ fixed up modestly, like a Habitat for Humanity project (my passion!) where miracles are made by regular citizens. Think Writer’s Retreat. Or post-Covid healing spot. No electronics or noise other than voices and musical instruments. Canoes, hammocks ~ and books to be read. Essentially, camping with a roof. My heart explodes watching your videos (with fear that you are going to crash through the floor with no one there to help you!) and with sadness for it having being abandoned, for the owner’s original dream and for its potential to be restored to what it once was. Not 2020 modern lights and glitz. (My small 112 year old ‘cottage’ home in an old apple orchard in BC feels very Pioneer-esque and is a haven from modernity.) I’d buy one of those old fridges if you could help me get to it. I adopt antique, unloved items and love them back to life. Happy to donate to the owner of the property or to a charity of your choice... If I knew where this place was, I’d be there infusing it with TLC so it could remind people of a kinder, gentler time. The world needs that right now. HUGE thanks for this video.

Pretty great explore! Reminds me of the summer resorts of my childhood in the 50 s and 60s in Northern California and the PNW. It was always the same. First day sitting around the cabin, board and a bunch of whining about going to the store to look around and buy something, second day having a blast swimming and playing in the dirt with sticks. Third day don’t even see the kids , cant find them except miraculously at meals or to pick up a life jacket and canoe.

Kids just love the outdoors and nature until they get older and video games and cell phones come into the mix 😂

Hi again from Virginia. What a nice relaxing video. A great way to spend some of my Mother's day afternoon! It is a super cool place. To bad no one has fixed it up. I certainly wouldn't mind spending a night or two in Cabin 9! Right on the water. 😁 The drone footage really adds to it, too. Just beautiful! Thanks again for keeping us entertained.

They were built in a time we today cant fathom. An average person with skills and ambition could go to a place like that and build their dream. Now only a rich person could afford the taxes and government regulations it would require to build that.

great place but I have a feeling I know why someone hasn't done anything with it. All those cottages need septic or holding tanks and they all sit on rock! Probably just a hose from the kitchen sinks to drain outside, and maybe a hole dug with a drain pipe in it for the toilets. Min. of Enviro is very picky about that kind of stuff now especially when you're right on the water.
@AbandonedUrbexCanada4 жыл бұрын
Yes your right. I’m not sure if they ever had proper septic tanks installed. To pul new ones in for all those cottages would be around $100,000
@karinmcdougall70664 жыл бұрын
@@AbandonedUrbexCanada Possibly more! I know for one home now, it's a min. $30,000. With all these places sitting on pretty much rock and surrounded by water, good chance it would be a big fat NO from the powers that be when it comes to permits. You know where a weeping bed would be running into! Raw sewage in lakes is very much frowned upon! I don't imagine they ever had proper septics. Only way you find out would be crawl under one. You should have stumbled across the lid for either a septic or holding tank somewhere outside. Likely concrete with an iron handle perfectly suited for lifting, or just really stubbing toes!

It always makes me mad to see abandoned buildings that look like someone came along and just had to flip everything over bust the toilets and windows. Why? Do people just hate things so much they have to destroy it all. Sure the owners at the time would do that before leaving. Those plastic lawn chairs are not that old people come there and hang out outside for the day I imagine in last 10 yrs

them light fixtures and wires show the ages as 1945, or so with Nub and tube wires. and that was a cheap build that worked well. I think they was build for they lasted better then many houses....
