This beautiful house was built in 1938 and demolished the day after I filed the video.

I'm starting to think these houses are being bought up to be destroyed on purpose to destroy our history and real craftmanship. A antique collector forsure would have come in and took out the windows, trim and fixtures. This is a sin and never should have been allowed. So sad 😢

This Estate is INCREDIBLE!!!! From the Woodwork inside and out, to the Stained Glass, JUST GORGEOUS!!!! Why can't a BEAUTIFULLY BUILT PLACE LIKE THIS BE SAVED?! This world is just UPSIDE DOWN!!!!

Yes it is. A bank will let it sit and rot before it will help you stay in and maintain the place. A house needs to be lived in. It I a terrible waste. So many meed protection and renovations. The houses today are cr@ppy compared to this.

This is how unbalanced the difference exists between the wealthy with no boundaries and ordinary folk. When the concept of money is distorted and beyond redemption.

I love the Tudor with lead glass and stained windows. I would have loved to know more about its last owner, why they left this property. Did a developer buy it. Why are they not salvaging the bannisters et . History behind such homes makes it extra special. As there will e continuity for people watching it like me❤😢

In this case, one should use "such as" in place of "like". But it's better to just strike such comparisons; "I'm surprised they didn't salvage [things such as/like] the doors, woodwork, flooring, and...", omitting the bracketed phrase, for a much cleaner sentence.

My mind is so blown. How can anything better be put in this magnificent mansion's place. This place is perfection. There's no way something better is even out there to replace this amazing home, with so much love and attention to detail put into it, the fireplace's...... everything. Oh my gosh and now it's gone. It's just heartbreaking!! I will never understand the person's thinking behind taking away this amazing home, I don't care how much money you have. This place should never have been demolished to put up "something better". I'm just beyond heartbroken. Thank you so much for sharing this with us. It just makes me so sad that the past is just being demolished, so much beauty gone😢

The Olympian definitely was the last resident i would say as the awards and Kodak photo info would suggest. Hard to say who it was, but as there were only 4 riders representing Canada at 1968 Olympics it would have been either: James Day - 13 th individual show jumping. GOLD MEDAL teams showjumping. Jim Elder- 6 th individual show jumping. GOLD MEDAL teams showjumping. Thomas Gayford- GOLD MEDAL teams showjumping. Torchy Millar - 36 th individual showjumping. They were the only showjumpers to complete that year from Canada.

I’m a spatial designer from London - usually I don’t like North American “Tudor” houses because they’re usually so Pastiche they tend to be the McMansions of their time - usually the 1920s and 30s - but THIS (!) The fact this beautiful house no longer stands actually makes me feel physically sick. I expected better from Canada (!) Very VERY sad loss of Canadian architectural heritage.

What a waste! To demolish such a beautiful, well built home! It wouldn't have taken alot to restore this lovely Tudor home. People are so wasteful. The magnificent woodworks, doors, hardware, leaded and stain glass windows, wooden and iron staircases. Destroy to build a modern monstrosity! On top of it all, what a sin not to salvage some of the woodworks, fireplaces, doors and hardware, windows and copper piping! I don't care how wealthy one is, it's called recycling! So wasteful.

It's quite a shame to see such a masterpiece reduced to rubble. Some people just really do have way too much money and no sense or appreciation for anything other than themselves and their own wealth. Fabulous house. This home by way ahead of it's time. The craftsmanship is really something to be envied. Craftsmen now would have no idea how to make the woodwork inside. Why it's being destroyed and not repaired should be a crime. Something you probably won't ever see again. Should be put on historial list. This breaks my heart.
@PatriciaAShelton-no6cqАй бұрын
I look at homes for sale in Canada. I love the open space,but still use French doors for the office or the formal living room. The basements are another house in itself. Seems all homes have nice basements there. I've seen them take homes like this,open it up where they can, especially the kitchen and family room. They leave special features such as molding etc. that is original to the homes decor. In this home I'm sure they would leave the all the woodwork it's original stain. Paint color they may switch out to a light beige an uodate the kitchen totally. I watch Open 24. Real estate company buys a property at low price sink a million in renovation or more. But sells the home and make a million or more for themselves. Whomever they use as contractors do a fantastic job. One home was Victorian and it was kept true to the original plan. Only thing that was changed was the kitchen. The master bath they added a beautiful corner shower but kept the claw foot tub. But the style and colors used complimented the house. Sad this home couldn't have been remodeled and sold. Tho if it has foundation issues sometimes those just can't be fixed. But at least salvage all you can from this beautifully crafted home.❤

It is criminal that somebody did not salvage that woodwork and stained glass. Easily $250,000 in woodwork and stained glass salvage. The more I watch the more angry I get. The door knobs, light fixtures, even the garage doors. This can never be replicated. The copper pool table light is to die for. I've sold those Yale door locks and knobs for $100 each........
@kaetischmalenberg222Ай бұрын
Might have been A for alabaster in that bathroom. What a pity they are tearing it down. So much could be salvaged. Would probably been lead paint that’s peeling. Maybe that’s why they can’t save anything? You’d think the light fixtures, stone walls, plumbing fixtures could be saved, but I guess they couldn’t be bothered.
@CarolMortensen-e2b3 ай бұрын
I read that there was asbestos put in plaster walls until as late as the 1980's. So, pulling the woodwork, etc, could have been pretty hazardous as far as dust.

What a shame they are pulling something made of high quality to put a MacMansion in its place. The food processor is a 1960s Ranson "high tech" processor. There would have been heaps of different attachments to fit on to the base. They are in demand for the mid century inspired fans that convert their house to 50s-60s.
