Wow when you climbed into that cab I was 15 again in 1987. My uncle had a garage in barrow hill next to the railway shed and managed to buy some land from the railway which was all overgrown with trees. Now the one he had was an IH 3in1 the cab is very similar especially the holes your legs went down but i was a bit scared of the thing at first and I'll never forget him saying get out of the way I'll show you as he went FULL BORE into the trees. The little thing pushed them down like saplings. He said to me "There you go are you alright with that than" and i spent the 6 weeks holiday clearing that land. Happy Days and many thanks.

The educational value alone, from machinery revitalisation to medical terminology, is quit simply second to none. @ 10:30 and on for instance, medical terminology such as 'Tard Launcher' :-) You just won't find this depth of knowledge, or the complimentary manor in which it's put across, anywhere else!

The company building the estate were I lived on in 1967 had a red Drott shovel, they also bought a new MF 40 later on, fitted with front loader and backhoe, she was in yellow livery, the Drott was sold on, I believe...

In the early days Drott manufactured everything. They would buy bare crawler tractors and manufacture the loader frame and arms, then the bucket and the rest of the package. I grew up on 4 stick controls with foot swing, it’s easy, just spend 10 hours in the seat. Love the channel, keep up the great work. I drove a 200b for while building the metro center in Gateshead they where on the way out of general use by then but had an advantage of being relatively low to work under the steelwork doing drainage and preparing floors for concrete the big advantage of them was that they where around before 4x4 tractor diggers invented and where very popular on large housing sites where they could travel off road where a 2 wheel drive MF50B , or JCB 3c and the like could not because of the mud in the winter month in particular , the 4x4 tractor digger by them with with a telescopic boom and often pallet fork plus a nice cab pretty much killed them off quite quickly but through the 1970s and into the early to mid 80s they where a very common site

Then on the 31st we will celebrate the coming of the New Tier. Crawler loaders are fun. Buddy has a 350B JD we play with every once in a while. Bout gutless with the little 3 banger in it but it’s a blast to run and it’s power shuttle to boot. Guy that used to live across the field from us was a equipment operator his whole life. Cut his teeth on a Case 530 backhoe. Not even a CK just a straight 530 so that says how long ago he started. He called the individual levers lightning rod controls. I never got to see him run one but dad did and he said that guy was the quickest smoothest operator you ever saw.

I have always wanted an International drott, have no use for one but back in the 1970s I got to play with one when a large property my father owned was pulled down and the demolition people used one for the job, they used a wire rope wrapped through the windows to pull the building over. Come knocking off time the driver said he would leave the key in it and as long as it was parked where he left it I could do what I liked with it, I spent a few hours that evening playing with the machine digging a large hole filling it in again and tracking over the top to pack it down. The machine was so knocked up that it only had one gear left in box but it still did the job. Ever since I have wanted one to play with.
