It's sad to see that the cranberry bog reservoir track has been abandoned I wonder how they're going to harvest the cranberry bogs for now on
@SouthCoastRailVideos2 жыл бұрын
They’ve been using trucks and other machinery to harvest them since about 1950.

@@SouthCoastRailVideos they should use rail again because of the gas prices

Ca.n You do a video about the abandoned train track from taunton through Dighton please

I’ve been thinking about that. Perhaps I’ll do a video in the future.

If the State of Mass. was smart, they'd purchase the site for sale, add it to the nature reserve, reinstall the railroad and use it to let people go through the reserve...but they probably wouldn't think of doing that.
@benkempf2 жыл бұрын
if you want the land and railroad to be used right, find a private buyer... state fucks everything up and doesnt have the brainpower to operate a for profit recreational railroad.
@zaklex31652 жыл бұрын
@@benkempf Once under state ownership it no longer needs to be for profit, it can be a break even operation...under the state park service, unless the Mass state park service is that incompetent. It doesn't take geniuses to figure any of this out...only people with half a brain and some common sense(both lacking severely in this country).
@cadespencer63202 жыл бұрын
is it being restored?
@SouthCoastRailVideos2 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately no because the path is on a state owned nature reserve and wildlife area and houses have been built on a part of the ROW. I suppose it could be rerouted but once again property lines are an issue.

Why was the track abandoned?
@SouthCoastRailVideos2 жыл бұрын
This was once part of a 5.5 mile loop that was shortened to 2 miles. Also some of the land the track was on was sold off to build homes.
@benkempf2 жыл бұрын
confused as i used to take my now 23 yo son there... this was abandoned again, after being revitalized in the late 90s?
@SouthCoastRailVideos2 жыл бұрын
This is a section of the 5 mile loop that was abandoned and removed. The park with the shorter 2 mile loop still exists.

Nicely done. Only suggestion I might make - they're so inexpensive now, is that you use a stabilizer when moving.
@SouthCoastRailVideos2 жыл бұрын
That's the plan at some point. Unfortunately I did not have one while filming this since at the time I was only going for a walk but decided to do a video. I'll be back with a stabilizer to retake this video.

@@SouthCoastRailVideos No worries, and I'm no expert. I just went to Best Buy recently with my daughter as she purchased one. Seems it wasn't that expensive. All in good time. Please be healthy, and keep up the excellent work.

The rail is still Edaville property and itself isn’t technically abandoned or available. Unfortunately there’s no rail left from the abandoned portion either.

It’s so sad that this place was sold. It’ll unfortunately most likely be turned into condos or a housing development. Not long ago this was a thriving business bringing fun and memories to many families and is now it is just another causality of the covid control pandemic.
