I had a mk1 Focus Rs from new, build no 1705 and I kept it for 6/7yrs and tuned it to 290bhp. Subtle stuff nothing crazy, what a car it was and an absolute joy to own. So sad to see this car over the years has clearly been neglected mechanically. Look forward to see it go on to better things.

I was working in a Ford main dealer when these came out. I had a 2.0 esp at the time and always longed for the RS. It’s so sad to see how an iconic badged model can be passed down through various owners getting gradually ruined and neglected.

It’s a Ford that’s what they are made for to be used passed on ruined and scrapped. They are disposable cars not something worth keeping cheap to buy from the start on release nothing exactly special and I don’t know why people think they are. Anyone who thinks Ford or Vauxhall is special needs a brain check or they just can’t afford any other brand because this certainly ain’t the worlds dream car and deffinetely never will be mine I’m very happy with my M3 with my S55 engine.

Well excited for this series! I remember when these first came out, I was an apprentice at Ford at the time. When the first one came in on the transporter, I was lucky enough to be the first person there to drive it. That made my whole week! Haha

Do away with charge cooler (but keep in garage) clock turbo - get some titanium wrap on that manifold and a decent v-band on the down pipe - just my 2 pence but you are the man for this job!

I know it's late but... Weld a nut to the small stumps of studs, say its an m8 stud, place a m10 nut on it, fill it with weld, allow to cool slightly and undo it 👍🏻😝

Funny how Ford were still using a throttle cable and ht leads back then. I remember playing with one when I had my GSI back in 2005 with my stage 1 regal map. 🤣

The first thing to check on a MK1 / 1.5 Focus is the floor ,sills, inner arches and chassis rails. They rot horribly if not looked after.

Man I love this proper raw mechanics but I was actually cringing when you pulled the manifold out mate it left a massif mark on the paint work on the chassis at the front about 6:21 on wards I understand its difficult to get out but don't bang the paint work up 😅I was crying lol watching you take it out

My all time favourite hot hatch. Love the proportions of these cars. It's a little shocking to see one in this bad of a condition. I get the impression that the previous owner(s) tired to do it themselves, because surely no garage would forget to put bolts on the exhaust manifold or not know how to connect up a boost controller or not know where to find the source of an oil leak? Will you be keeping this stock? Because all the OEM hoses on these are garbage, which is why almost everyone goes for better quality Roose or Samco products.
