My father's first duty station after WWII. We lived at 7 Allan Avenue which was senior officer housing. Have many fond memories of that time. General Lanahan (sp) was the Commanding Officer.

Interesting video. I came across your video by accident when I was doing a series of searches over the last few days trying to find old photos of the NCO Club at Fort Monmouth. We used to play there in a band quite often (fresh out of high school) in the early 1970s and I have tons of memories playing there. We also got to know a Mr. Evans (who apparently booked the bands) and he liked our band quite a lot as he used to refer us for playing many weddings there at the NCO. I can't really unfortunately find and photos before it went into disrepair and was abandoned. It would be great if I could with so many memories there and also playing at the EM (Enlisted Men's Club)...I'll keep looking. Thanks for doing the video and your dog is very cool too... local to the area:: not sure how i feel about Netflix coming in ( might make the traffic and population even more inflated ) - but i really wish they dedicated this whole 'campus' into a Veterans assisted living, care, and medical. It would have made sense and it would be appropriate for being an old military facility. Our retired, wounded, and ptsd stricken vets need more help and this could have been something valuable for them

Battery mills on facing highlands side is so awsome amazing so much memories gone to the wind

The batteries at Sandy Hook and the Highlands are indeed reminders of our military history. Places like Ft. Monmouth helped greatly in delivering us into the technical age or warfare. I visit all of these sites often.

My wife & I were both in the 389th Army Band & stationed there. We played many concerts & ceremonies in that theater at the start of this video.

Thank you so much for watching the vid. My uncle flew helicopter gun ships in Vietnam and was stationed there for a brief period of time. It has a special meaning for me.

I was there 1967. MOS 26L20 Microwave Radio Equipment Repair. I remember that theater

The theatre was the most spooky place of all. Couldn't see a thing and it was pitch black--only had a small flashlight in hand.

US Army Veteran 1973-1998. I was TDY (temporary duty) to Fort Monmouth 1988-1989. It was an important center for Military Intelligence during the Cold War. Sad to see it in ruins. I also spent time at Fort Ord and visited there recently. Just sad.

Thank you for sharing that, Larry. It was quite an important place for us living nearby. The research and development they did there was extraordinary.

I heard from someone that worked there that the buildings near rt 35 were fbi and some of them went down several floors.

I did notice a lot of Air Soft pellets around. They were doing some kind of exercises in there and I did see tactical boot prints on the dusty floors. So, I wouldn't doubt the FBI was using it for assault tactics. Thanks for watching.

Visited the base a week ago, It's really cool how this abandoned location is right in the middle of a busy area. Great video of course!
