Thank you! I went there as a child with my parents and best friend and her parents. We spent a few days in Gatlinburg then went to Ghost Town. It was a fun fun day. The amusement park was not there. There were 'gun' fights in the street, singing and dancing girls in the Red Dog Saloon. You could order any kind of drink ya wanted! ...and it was always served as coke or sprite. LOL. Thank you for the memory. I went there when I was around 8 or 10 and I am now 66. I had forgotten all about that very special trip!

@billmanning10892 жыл бұрын
I visited this place on a family vacation when I was about 9 years old (1981). Back then, they used to have "gunfights" every 2-3 hours in the street. Complete with stuntmen falling off 2nd story balcony when "shot".

Thank you for making this video, I went here as a kid and now my sister is married and lives 10 minutes from it, it really hurts my heart to know and to think about the fact that a place so magical sits up there untouched and not enjoyed. I think I’d rather it had never existed than to know the abandoned memories that lie atop that mountain…

Ghost Town in the Sky, in the Great Smoky Mountains of western North Carolina, not far from Asheville; Gatlinburg, TN; or Atlanta. There was also a Cherokee passion play performed not far from this park. Visited in the early 70’s. There were rides and shops and restaurants. The Red Dog had live shows throughout the day and evening. There were shoot-outs in the street throughout the day. You could pose for old western photos or have your name inserted into the headline on an old western newspaper. I seem to remember a house that “defied gravity”. And I didn’t imagine it: that rollercoaster track really did extend out over the bluff that towered several hundred feet (or so it seemed) over the floor of the Maggie Valley! Terrifying fun!

Thank You for making this video. I've not been up there since I left in 1995 I worked up there from 92-93 as a ride operator the geronimo drop used to be a ride called the round up. The dream catcher was actually called the parachute the pirate ship used to be the centerpiece for the top part of the park , the Red Devil was what got you first. It's so sadd the shape that it has fallen into. There is so much of the park had been renamed. The kiddie coaster was brutal if you want my opinion, but the kids loved it. They had swings & a tilt a whirl the scrambler was actually in the building next to the red devil it was cool black lights and rock music. Gosh thanks for taking me back to a cool time in my life. My condolences to Rebecca Buntings family & friends may you rest In Peace Thank you for risking going to jail for a look back at a place that ment alot to me and alot of other folks that may have worked up on the mountain or visited at one point. Great video

That place is awesome. I grew up in that town, I've even been there when it was open. I've been there a couple times now in the past year and it just gets destroyed more and more by vandals. All the windows are broken and the roofs are caving in. Its a shame what people have done to the place. The local authorities have really cracked down on trespassers, if you get caught it can be a felony.

I went there as a kid. That was the first roller coaster I ever rode. Cowboys “actors” would just break out into big gun fights in the streets. I remember being scared to death riding the chair lift up to the town. Rode in the back of my grandpas truck in the camper shell with my brother and a few more kids all the way from north east Ga. That’s been 30+ yrs ago.

3:50 "They live inside my eyes." I can't google where it originated. There's a poem by Ellie Chavez that pops up, but mostly Peter Gabriel's "In Your Eyes" which I doubt inspired whoever had this red felt marker to write on this sign. There are many ways to interpret this. When looking around at an abandoned place, you may imagine seeing people walking the lanes or riding the attractions. Laughing. Loving. Enjoying their day. Those aren't memories, unless we happened to visit this place back when it was open vibrant and alive. We fabricate these mental images as we look about an abandoned place. Those people aren't real, and yet they live inside our eyes.

Google her screen name "_bword" and maybe the name "Rebecca" with it, and you'll find out all you need to know. That could be your starting point. There are news articles and all which detail what happened to her. I don't think the people behind this channel wish to relive such trauma or to keep going into details about it, as you may understand, so I humbly suggest using Google to get your answers. I was able to find answers when doing so. Good luck.
