I recently visited Italy for the first time and there are so many beautiful historic buildings. Norco and California deserve a historic place like this to be restored an preserved.

Here's an idea: I worked for several years on Alcatraz, as a Park Ranger. During that assignment the National Park managers worked out a deal with the Federal Bureau of Prisons to allow skilled, minimum security inmates to work on the restoration of the cellhouse and surrounding structures. So far as I know, that program continues. The new Director of the California State Parks, Armando Quintero, was the Bay District Ranger in charge of Alcatraz during those years. Perhaps a partnership with California State Parks and State Corrections could be established, with Director Quintero as a facilitator?

Always wondered where exactly in Norco this place was. Finally saw it while driving around Norco with my granddaughter who is soon going to take her driving test at the DMV. It would be wonderful to see inside!

A celebrity (Kylie Jenner) and/or a major company (Walt Disney, St. Regis, Universal) should invest to restore the hotel to its former glory. The Norconian Club needs major renovations, not only to restore it to its former glory, but to update it to today's standards. There is so much potential for this resort, the resort has all the makings of a high-end, luxurious resort. The architecture alone is truly stunning. It's a shame to see such a beautiful building waste away. Hope someone restores it soon.

An emphasis on this former resort being a very hidden secret. Huell Howser brought me here as an episode of California's Gold from about 2010 featuring The Norconian just aired this evening shortly before I wrote this. Kevin was Huells' guide that day and spoke about the efforts that had been going on for some time to find the means to restore the resort. I thought I had seen all of Huells' shows at least twice but I had never seen this very interesting episode. Kudos to KCET programmers for digging this episode out and airing it. It would be great to restore The Norconian but also to restore it to a resort again that we could all enjoy. Hopefully it eventually has a good outcome.

I grew up in Norco. My parents still live on Bluff Street. I was eating at a local restaurant this morning and saw pictures of this resort on the wall. I remember having team meals on the grounds of the resort back when I was playing football for Norco high school. What great history and like a liberal run state, they turned it into a prison so the inmates could destroy this place. How sad

Thanks JPS . Amazing you know about it up close. It’s main use was as Naval Hospital as you know and was used by prison until earthquake safety concerns . Navy still has half the property . Here’s a group striving to save it. www.lakenorconianclub.org/
