Wow! I was born in Bloomington and lived there for awhile and still have family there. I wonder where this is. Thanks for sharing. I know it gets very cold. My grandparents house is left abandoned in Helmsburg which is a little ways from Bloomington ...wish I could go back and see it. They passed away in the 80s. My grandpa made the concrete picnic table that looks like a tree is growing up against it. Hope you check it out.

I was born in Bloomington and I live in Nashville. Where in Helmsburg is your grandparents house?
@sewndebisdream695310 ай бұрын
@christymckee8133 It's on the main road going to Bloomington. Between 1st and 2nd street across from there...(Its been a long time since I've been there.) My sister thought the house was to be torn down but she was wrong. The house has signs in the yard saying it has been left to natural wildlife. The house has signs that says condemned. She says the whole property is like the woods have taken over. I thought maybe the state or city would take over the property but I guess since after my Grandparents passed away the property wasn't given to anyone and was just abandoned. Not sure...

Yes,it's on the main road through Helmburg on the right. There's a concrete picnic table in the yard that trees are growing up around it. It's a two story home with a basement, the house is white with teal green trim.

One of the rules of urbex is take photographs/videos, leave only footprints. I love that bell. I think it was actually an old school bell considering there was a school bus on this property. Very cool video! Was that truck a Ford or a Chevy?

This is (for me) in the top three of the most mysterious and cool abandoned house locations I've seen on KZbin. I really wish the inside of the house could have been thoroughly explored. Have you considered going back and exploring the inside? I also find it amazing that the roof is not completely deteriorated since its been abandoned apparently since 1977!
@FuquarProductions11 жыл бұрын
If you are trying to find the owners, you need to go to the Monroe county recorders office to fine the tax records/deed holder. It may actually be owned my the county/state because of a possible tax bill, maybe even the old owners passed away with no heirs to the property.... just a thought. I am pretty sure I know the location, but I have not been in that area for at least 12 years.
@planb222210 жыл бұрын
I bet the reason your phone was quitting was because the person buried under the AD1950 marker was not very happy with you trespassing on his property. That was a complete homestead; dinner bell, dog house, out house, poor guys truck. I am in total agreement with you NOT disturbing anything. Very good. thanks for sharing.

I have to admit, the whole battery problem had me a little on edge. Plus you never know who could be staying in an abandoned place like that, I really think horror films have ruined me for abandoned explorations like this : P.
@planb222210 жыл бұрын
I lived in a "haunted" house for several years. Lots of unexplained things happening; lights turning off and on, doors unlocking, tapping under the kitchen cabinets and I had a very personal experience in the basement. I had that overwhelming sensation that someone was standing behind me and when I turned, sure that I would see my brother standing there, there was no body. It sends a chill up my spine to this day. I absolutely am a believer in the here after. Be safe and be respectful. God speed.
@InterestingTed10 жыл бұрын
My mother and grandmother (her mom) experienced similar happening is their old home. They both describe the same dramatic nights, one of which they packed up and left. Ghost stories are fascinating, I wonder if we'll ever have a true understanding of the paranormal.
@planb222210 жыл бұрын
I think technology has definitely advanced our ability to at least prove that there is more to life than this physical rhelm. I personally find great comfort in knowing that there is more. I am Catholic and they preach that there is no such thing as ghosts; I disagree. In fact I believe that Heaven isn't too far away. I guess we will just have to make the trip to fully understand. Nice chatting with you. Be safe.

As a Paranormal Investigator I can tell you the following: Yes. ALLEGEDLY spirits drain batteries for energy. But since you said "It's 23 degrees", I would lean more toward the cold killing your batteries. Just like a car battery gets cold & won't start your car, those so much SMALLER batteries react the same way to cold. " NOT" saying 100% its not paranormal. Just saying odds are it was the cold. We have plenty of experience investigating outdoors in frigid tempratures. Sadly, its a common occurrence.

Once again the young kid urban explorers ( all of them on youtube) fail to grasp the real full Layout of what they are exploring. It’s always jerky camera shots and they don’t really show anything that what would be interesting. Never pointing out anything like construction of the house, who may have lived there etc. Inside the privy would have been a nice shot but never mind they don’t even know that there would have been several rare bottles buried in there. Also what was written on the bell? Why would you just breeze by it is in 2 seconds and not show it more it obviously has great significance with the house?
