I have my great grandmother's Singer sewing machine. I am 72 years old so you can imagine how old it is. It is in excellent shape too. That device you wondered what it was. It's not a cash register but it is a device to print checks. I would give anything to have that quilt on the first bed. It was beautiful. After so long the state should be able to take it over and try to save some of the antiques. That cottage by the pond is in better shape than the house and is probably older. They built things to last back in the day. Our builders should be ashamed of their work now. I truly enjoy your explorations.

My Mum is 98 years old and both my brothers and I just love it and hope she lives for many, many years to come! I told Mum that I hope she puts it in her will to ensure that the beautiful furniture my Dad hand crafted is left to us kids because it’s just so beautiful. I don’t care if it’s left to my brothers, me or all of us! It’s beautiful and so special. There is also no way I would contest my mother’s will and I know my brothers wouldn’t either!
@jet44156 ай бұрын
My sister thought she was being had during the will and separation of items. She lived in the family home when dad died and when we picked out items we wanted, she would say, “ Where are you going to put that in your house?!” Very exhausting. Regarding the money, we had an Excel spreadsheet, a family lawyer she could talk to, and she still thought we scammed her. She wanted the family home as part of her inheritance and never let us see inside again. After that, if anything broke in the house, even years later, she would call my other sisters and wanted her siblings to pay to fix it. She said it was broken when she inherited. This went on for years! We have not spoken since 2004 and it has been the best 20 years. Her crazy behaviors started way before my last parent died. You could see it coming. But even with an authorized will and full disclosure, her end behaviors were very horrifying.
@margcain59935 ай бұрын
You have to look at the point of view this way and most kids don't when parents are gone and they want what they want. Your sister lived with him she was there every day for him, taking care of him, and helping do things around the house. She probably went to doctors appointments, up all night when sick. You had the luxury of going home and spending your time how you want to. The child that's at home with the parent has to deal with it all. There's bills, property taxes, home repairs etc. But when a parent goes everyone has their hand out, how about you were there for the parent and gave them a happy life in their days, and you settle with what you made in your lifetime. If they leave money make sure their house, all repairs are done if you have somewhere to stay let a family member live there.

Honestly, I cannot judge the son and daughter too harshly for their stalemate in court. As someone with a sour relationship with their only sibling, I dread the future of handling our parent's affairs. These two siblings probably have A LOT of reasons why they're at odds that we'll never know about. It's sad to see so much property fall into ruin, but idk.... at the end of the day, it's just stuff. If the conflict truly was about memories and belongings, they would've found a compromise that gave both parties a portion of what meant the most to them. But I don't think their conflict is about property, at it's core.

Sometimes, and often, it's petty mixed with unfounded pride. The lesson for the viewers: get your family's assets in order and document with your intended heirs, adding stipulations to any heirs that contest after the party does die, immediately forfeit forever, their portion. It's the living person's responsibility to keep the process uncontested. Document, document, document.

I can picture this home as it was many years ago, in such a beautiful, quiet, tranquil location near a pond and surrounded by trees and serenity. I imagine at some point, they all really loved living there. The things left behind don't impact me as much as just picturing what it was like for the souls who occupied that space. The photos on the mantel are haunting. It's incredible that they have fought for so long, never forgiving, never making amends... While a place that used to bring so much happiness, fell into absolute ruin. Only on their deathbeds will they realize none of it mattered

I looked up this case on the Alabama Court site, and it said that their mother had made 2 wills, one in 1995, and another in 2007, The daughter believed that the older will from 1995 was the valid will. Her brother believed that the 2007 will was the valid one. So they have had a court battle for years, suing, and counter-suing. Meanwhile, that beautiful home and all its beautiful & valuable contents is sitting there rotting! They are not allowed to go into the house because of the court battle. How very sad!

I listened to your comments as you explored this estate and couldn't help but be impressed by your heart, Jeremy. It's a good one! You noted the unnecessary waste, the destruction of beautiful items and (formerly) useful things, all because of familial greed and anger. It's a sad truth of human nature, and particularly of the world we live in today. Keep "your" goodness, Jeremy! We need more of it. *Btw: I believe the tall metal item you asked if anyone knew about is part of a set of scales. The part you saw is the stand-up base. The set of two scales, each hung on decorative chains, were missing. One scale would hang off each end of the balancing bar across the top. Also, the "gowns" you noted were likely not silk, but rayon. And those were slips, not gowns. All "ladies" wore those under our dresses so our panties and bra (and often a girdle, too!) couldn't be seen through our dresses. These were DE RIGUEUR in the South through at least the 1970s (especially for church,) regardless of heat and humidity! Many older women still wear them.

So sad to see that everything that the woman that lived there worked for is now just decaying away, it's like her whole life's work meant nothing to her children to just let everything be left to rot and that is a sad thing. If the children disagreed so strongly on things, there should have been a 3rd party to sell everything and split it right down the middle rather than to just leave everything. I think the machine thing that you thought was some sort of cash register is actually a device for cutting checks. Good job, and thanks for sharing this one.

The honor you bring to the life this woman had is a blessing. The antiques are a sad loss, but the memories lost are sadder. Thank you Jeremy, I love every single one of your videos. You present them beautifully. I could listen to your voice forever. You are so caring and respectful of the people who once lived in these fascinating houses. A good indication to when the owners last lived there are prescription bottles or pill containers ( if they are in plain sight like the two bottles in the kitchen ) and if there is no calendar. Bless your sweet heart. Love from B. C. Canada 🇨🇦 I’m 70 yrs. old. I just saw that thing you called a cash register. I worked in banks in the 1970’s. It’s for certified cheques, you slide the check lengthwise in on the bottom slot, enter the amount, pull the lever and it puts an official seal and embosses the amount on the check. So nobody can mess with the amount of the certified check. Hope I explained that okay. ❤

Unfortunately, antiques aren't going for what they used too. My parents were collectors going back to the early 60's (both of their parents collected too) and were living in New Hampshire. They would buy old Colonials that were from the 1600's and 1700's fully furnished with antiques, fix up the houses and sell them. They had their pick of what to keep and what not to, so they had really good stuff. Well, back in 2015 my parents wanted to retire to Florida and decided to sell off the antiques, but not a lot of people were interested. Apparently, much of the younger generations aren't attracted to them like the previous generations - is at least what my parents were told by many people who sell them and they are actually looking to get out of the business (some after 40 or 50 years as antique dealers) because of very slow sales. Older people aren't buying that much anymore and the young people dont want anything to do with them. So, after a while my parents pretty much sold it all for pennies on the dollar. Times certainly have changed. There just isn't a big enough market anymore - supply and demand. Hopefully others have a different story. Anyways, it's sad to see what the kids have done ( or haven't done) with the family house. I wonder just how far back their anger goes for one another - I can guarantee it didn't start at the Will, it's been going on for some time.

Both of those vehicles can be fixed and cleaned up and driven again. In fact I would love to have that van, I could work wonders with it. That is my favorite body style for those vans. It is also my favorite color. I would be willing to make an offer to the probate court for it.

Jeremy thank you for another beautiful explore. This absolutely breaks my heart to see all her precious belongings just rotting away. All of these things meant so much to her and the children couldn’t come to some sort of an agreement and now neither of them will enjoy any of her estate. Just a shame! Stay safe out there.

What an amazing find with such a sad story! I imagine Mama didn't have this in mind when she was imagining the future of her children when they were still babies. It bears my heart that they were so stubborn, that in the end, they lost the ability to keep memories of happier times alive as well as whatever it was that was SO important to them thst they had to fight over it! Now, of course, it is mostly in ruins. Such a sad, sad end to a beautiful abandoned home. Thank you for sharing this amazing find!!! ❤❤

@jeremyxplores another great video and extremely sad that the children were in such a bitter conflict resulting in the end to the destruction of the mothers belongings they fought over. Just sad.

Hi Jeremy, watching from the Netherlands! Normally I wouldn't leave a comment but you absolutely deserve one. I'm always looking forward to a new video as you share those stories with so much respect and emotions. I started watching video's from other exploration channels (cause I've seen all of your video's) but these are just not the same, please keep doing what you are doing! It's getting better every time, thankyou so much for sharing those stories🙏

Greed is a terrible thing. Those children bickering between themselves and ended up losing it all. The mother likely turned in her grave more than once. Amazing find Jeremy. I just love your videos/tours. They keep me fully engaged the entire time LOL what's next, right?! Spectacular. Thank you my friend! Stay safe!

The thing that looked like a cash register was actually a cashier's check maker or money order machine.

I LOVE VANS LIKE THAT! I WISH I HAD ONE! But seriously, this type of family infighting is terrible. I guess this happened with my grandpa and his sister when their parents died. The sister and some of their family went into the house before the funeral late at night and took everything of value. Someone once asked me if I was related to them and I had no idea. I asked my Mom and then I heard this. I didn't even know I was related to them, that's how badly this hurt our side of the family. They never spoke again. Money is pointless, relationships and love are priceless. Thank you for another journey that proves exactly that point. Love your channel!

This was a good one Jeremy .It's hard to see that the owner worked so hard to have material things throughout her life to see them deteriorate after death. A lot of memories. It just lets me know not to have a lot of material things I really don't need. And times have changed. It used to be the daughters, and sons would look forward to receiving the material goods for memories or because valuble antiques to pass down to their children to keep it in the family. But now our kids, values have changed, and they don't want our stuff. It's sad 😢

Hello Jeremy, This sad to see, but it happens all the time. The thing in the closet is a old scale just missing the hooks and chains and dishes on each end. The arrow at the top gaves it away for me. Hope you have a bless week.

Crazy to not go get a U Haul and empty it out and put it in storage. If they come for those things then hand them the bill for it. If they don’t come then furnish your own home 🏠 with it 😊 leave them a note telling them where their stuff is.

Id love to see that early-model Mercedes R129 restored. I wonder if its a 320 or 500 SL based on the color. Its sad that they let the house fall apart and neither of them could claim it but like you mentioned...this happens all the time.

Without giving away any personal information. It was two brothers vs. the sister in this case. Last year one of the brothers passed away, leaving the remaining brother and the sister to continue the legal deadlock. It seems the courts were leaning in favor of the later will but the sister refuses to release the dispute. At this point I think they’re just keeping it up out of spite.

Hi Jeremy, look forward to your explores. This once beautiful home held much happiness, much laughter & love. But because of the greed and hate between her children, you can truly feel its sadness. Like other places you go, the house speaks to your soul & you really put your heart in to your work. I could sit for hours, Upon hours listening to you as you bring the places back to life. Thank you for taking us all along on your journeys. Such an interesting story on this place. Sad to see how it was left behind not taken care of. Thanks Jeremy for such great content. Stay safe!

Great explore, beyond belief just how much stuff they possessed, they were a greedy family. You'd think at least one of them would check on it occasionally before it got this bad. Hate to see once beautiful and expensive antiques being ruined, such a wicked waste. And the Merc! Makes me want to weep😢

Thank you Jeremy for another awesome video. This is really sad to see all of these Antiques & items go to waste. It's a shame her kids couldn't reach an agreement. Alot of these things could have been donated (those in the boxes that were covered), I have learned that All possessions are not that important & you can't take it with you when you are gone. Maybe just spend quality time with your family, that's what really matters.
@valeriejpanda7 ай бұрын
I have also notices how these abandoned homes have so many photos & certificates of the family. Those I would want to keep, You can't replace those. Also Art work (some that was hand painted) would be a treasure to most families. Sometimes Greed is all you see. Sad

I imagine the executor of the estate didn't bother to notify the electric company and the bill is getting paid through the cash assets of the estate. ONLY ones benefiting from this pilot's death are the Executors of the estate and the lawyers involved. They have happily been collecting fees for years and will continue to until the estate's cash assets run out.
