This Abandoned Mausoleum is now Trashed and in this video I'm going to give you a Before & After look at some parts of the property. Despite the bad news, I'll also give you a look at the condition of the roof, and there's more details to share about people wanting to help. The future of this place is still up in the air, but here's the latest update on this dismal place.

To follow up about me mentioning of not knowing of any other places like this... I know there's other Abandoned Mausoleums & Cemeteries out there, but this is the only one that was purchased at a tax auction, and the new owners immediately tried forfeiting the sale & denied knowing they purchased a Mausoleum. However things pan out in the future, I'll keep documenting it.

Money is always the big stop sign in any of these issues , and understanding the whole picture isn’t rocket science. I know the states have their own laws and procedures for this type of thing , my second call would be all and any health departments , city…county… then the state they can’t ignore the hazards that exist here ! Once it reaches the state level and the media , politicians will be scrambling to save face ,and their jobs . Good luck ,

@@1946luke You realize that these are businesses, right? Sometimes businesses go broke or the owners die off or whatever. No building can be a person's "final resting place". They all fail in 100 years or less unless you're going to spend tens of millions of dollars (for large mausoleums) to maintain and overhaul them like historic churches or other places. It's amazing that people still think this is a good idea for their final arrangements.

I feel a little better about the mausoleum where I have my mother that recently passed. It's roof is made of a heavy grade of iron. It's built on a large property with many graves, and plenty more land to keep expanding. For the price of what they're charging for these grave plots, there's no excuse for the property to go without adequate maintenance. I hope I never have to go through the trouble of moving a loved one out of a crumbling, neglected disaster like this.

Let's be blunt. This is a terrible idea for "final arrangements". These are businesses and businesses go broke. Name 10 American small businesses from the 1950s that are still around today. People can barely even name 10 large American corporations from the 1950s that are around today. The life expectancy of these buildings is 75 years (at best) even when they're brand new.

I certainly don't condone vandalism, and I don't condone owners failing to uphold their responsibilities, but that said, in my opinion once someone dies the body is just an empty vessel. Not being critical of anyone's favored death rituals and the way they deal with grief. Just stating my opinion that those dead folks just don't care. If they were good they're in heaven is my belief, and if you don't believe in an afterlife, then they've still gone beyond earthly concerns. Just my 2 cents.

The tablets are broken down to extract the ephedrine which is used to illegally manufacture Methamphetamine. So basically it looks like the place was being used as a Meth Lab. What better “unassuming” location to cook meth ??

@Sister Spooky To be honest, regarding Good Shepherd Mausoleum, the PA State Government should track down as many of the Families as possible and have a meeting with them. The PA State Government should pay for everything I'm proposing in writing below. From there, convince everyone to let the remaining bodies be extracted from the crypt, be buried beneath ground on the Good Shepherd Property, bulldoze and scrap the abandoned buildings, and turn that place into a Memorial Park Nature Preserve. Plant more trees and natural vegetation, and help Mother Nature reclaim the property and comfortably return everyone's remaining beings to the Earth. Build a big Memorial Wall for everyone there. All the names, and the names of those who would work to turn that place into a Memorial Nature Preserve. In another 8 to 10 years, Mother Nature is going to just reclaim that land anyway.

I went back and watched your other videos on this. Absolutely horrible! When these people/families purchased their crypts it was with an implied expectation of continuous maintenance of the building. At the very least, their purchase price should be refunded to them. Since the building was not maintained, and is now condemned, they should not have to pay to have the bodies moved to another cemetery. Those who have already done this should be reimbursed for those expenses as well. Whether the township, or the municipality, the local government should have never let this property or the situation get this bad. Shame on all those responsible by their actions or non-actions. Why wont the local township there done anything about it. No one is accepting ownership because if they do they would have that responsibility to pay for the many repairs and upkeep of the property and grounds. You are doing an amazing thing to keep this in people's minds every year until someone steps up to their responsibilities. Just so so sad. I love to collect vintage medications and pills. Id love to have all those medicines you were showing in the beginning. I dont use the, but just showcase them in a glass display case. Also if i lived by, id love to cut all the grass and overgrown bushes and durbis from the office, and mauseloum. Heck. I could measure the building, and buy several heavy duty blue tarps, laser weld them together to make one giant tarp that wound cover the whole roof of the msdeoulm. I could use bricks to hold it down. Drape it over the edges, and tie it down in several places. This would be a very cheap way of keeping the roof from lesking and causing further damage. I would do this myself. I can get my hands on the tarps for free. Basically the roof of the mauseloum would be covered in one big blue tarp to protect it from further damage from the elements. There is also an easy way of catching the vandels. Get some motion activated wildlife cameras, hide them in several places in and around the mauleousrm, they hsve a super long life lithoum ion battery, and use a memory card to record the footage. Very cheap security system. Also i would purchase several of those bell and howell bionic flood lights they are motion activated and run off of lithium batteties and are charged by the sun. Very inexpensive. Heck i would be wiling to at least tarp the roof, seal up the windows, and install the motion activated cameras and floid lights. Would be a great start. Where is this place located? I am more of a winter cold weater guy, so id love to do all this work before the hot summer weather arrives. I could set up a go fund me to pay for some of the materials, but they are pretty cheap if someone seen me putting in the effort to make some repairs they msy reinburrse me for some of the matetials. I dont want any money for my time though. Just a thought. I have plenty of time on my hands.

Another thing that hit me was there are light fixtures hanging in the mauseloum. I wonder if there is any electrical power available? If so i do HVAC and i could install a all in one unit outside, ha d some DuctSox ductwork i side, and get some enviromental control going to help get rid of the mold and odor. Howevrr i dont think many want to pay the power bill for this. Better yet i could just use a good size dehumidifer for right now or mount a 24k btu window unit in one of the windows in the back side. Window could be removed, and a unit mounted in place. Would provide cooling and dehumidification at least. This along with roof tarped will prohibit any further mold growth, and keep things on the inside dry.

There's no power and unfortunately I don't believe the township will allow it to happen as it's tied up in the courts and a single party is refusing to take on ownership to pay back taxes and come up with a long-term solution to this property. You made some great suggestions though.

The only thing that can be done is reaching out to the family members who have family buried in the vaults. To see if they will give the okay to have the remains that are there removed and put in another location. If the family gives am okay then the remains can be moved the second thing is the family may not have the money then you will have to go with a go fund me to raise money to have the remains removed and put in another location.

This is even so sad. I will never Understand why People do things like this. I'm sure in my Generation we had people who did things like this. In fact I'm so sure Generations before us did things too but it seems as if one of the most talked about was mainly just carving your Initials in trees and on Bridges. Sad just so sad.

Just another argument for cremation. I have always said that beyond your kids and grand kids, no one will visit, no one will be interested in your resting place. I have come across several abandoned cemeteries in rural Arkansas just out hiking and exploring. Likely at one time a nearby country church but long gone and nothing left like a foundation or steps, nothing. One is the first time I ever came across an engraving that I have since seen a few more times: “Remember friends as you pass by as you are now so once was I. As I am now so you must be prepare yourself to follow me.". It must have been a popular headstone engraving many years ago. It was in a grove of trees, deep in woods. The last burial date I could find was the late 20's. Another cemetery I found dated back to burials as early as 1809 with the last in the 1880's.

I just watched Lamont at Large who toured this place in 2020. I see they havent done anything to it.. Edit: The windows were not busted out last time. Disrespectful. But its good to see some of the deceased are being moved. Hopefully all will find their final resting place so soon.

I live in Finland (new NATO country) and I wonder this way to not bury dead people into the underground! Of course you couldn’t make money as much in that way as with these mausoleum burying. But What is the benefit to anyone with these up ground mausoleums if there is no certainty they would be taken care in proper manner for rest of the humankind? Dead ones don’t need mausoleums! Why living ones need them? Is it for the bad conscience for neglecting their “loved” ones when they still were here or what? I don’t understand. In Finland, parishes have obligation to keep semetaries which are open to all, both people who are members of the parish as well as those who are not members of the parish. Only private business here is with caskets, headstones and memory get together catering services. How about this kind of system? We all die ones, why it has to be so capitalistic? We stay in other peoples hearts after us if we deserve it. Mausoleum and palmings make no difference in that.

They shouldn't have locked the door considering loved ones are still in there. And some of those deaths are as late as early 2000's. So of course people broke the glass. Hell if you look inside you can tell these people just wanted to go inside and pay respects because there is no graffiti, and it looks like there is more flowers than last time. It's a shame though that someone broke that beautiful stained glass. I agree with people breaking that front window to gain entry to their loved ones, but don't damage the place worse than it is already.

What possible satisfaction could anyone get from vandalizing a cemetery? They must be some really soulless beings, I won't even use the term "human" to describe them.

This has nothing to do with the Township other than keeping people off of private property for safety concerns. The property has been up for sale for many years, but no one wants to pay for unpaid taxes that keeps accumulating yearly, last amount was 28k in unpaid taxes 2018. Be better to pester the Catholic Diocese of this area and the EPA to have these bodies moved.

I suggest to prod the city from another angle, health, safety, and embarrassment. Obvious health issues from the water leaching embalming fluids into the groundwater, safety from being an attractive nuisance for exploring, and lastly, that this will be put on national news to let everyone know that the town council are smucks.

I can understand the broken windows on the front.. how can you chain shut the doors when people's loved ones are inside esp since it's fallen into disrepair. If your showing up to exhume a loved one from inside and there's no ownership and nobody to contact and the doors are chained shut.. guess windows will be broken, but rest of the vandalism doesn't make sense other than kids.. sad all around..

Perpetual care my big fat A ... this is incredibly sad and so disrespectful. I think the governed areas should round up unemployed and low risk jail birds to have field days to keep thesr places tidy. As far as the building, it probably wouldn't be rocket science to place a canopied roof to at least stop weather elements.

Would it be easier and more cost effective to just exhume all the bodies in the mausoleum and just rebuy them in the lawn, along with the ones already buried there, and when empty, torn down/demolish the entire mausoleum (and the office), trim the grass and any other overgrown plants and trees and problem solved, and you basically have a whole new makeover cemetery, that could even revive and become operational again. I mean the land acre itself has potential, it's green, natural scenery is beautiful.

Maybe 1 thing you could do is give people a means to contact that mortician to help people exhume more of these remains so that way, in the hopeful future it can just be people relocating these loved ones until that place is empty and can just be demolished.

Before this building falls in and the crypts open why doesn't the state health force these remaining bodies be removed and buried safe there on the grounds already containing graves? Demolish the building as it is lost anyway. This needs to stop for all health reasons and to protect the living and dead.
