This castle was used as a maternity hospital during war time .I was born in it 1944.Sad to see it in this state .

@@coconutislanddrones when me and we Jimmy went I made the decision not to drag all 20kg of my gear until I had been and done a recy on the place and even without all my the gear we were knackered if I had karted it all I would have got half way then said AHHH f**k THIS 🤣🤣🤣 but it was well worth a vist

@@bakertam It was a last minute thing for me, just found it on the maps, found a place to park then set off on what I thought would be 20 minute stroll through the woods. How f***ing wrong was I lol. Cracking place but also in a very dangerous state with all those overhanging bricks.

It was a beautiful but it had a shocking reputation. The treatment of its patients by the staff was inhumane to say the least. Out of their beds at 5am, scrubbing floors, you name it. And these were people with learning difficulties. When the hospital closed, the public were asked to take the patients and be paid for caring for them in their homes. Like most asylums, beautiful building, horrendous to live in.

This was actually built for my ancestor, John Lennox Kincaid...so sad to hear the story of what it became.
