This long cold abandoned GT was said to have a bad engine and been parked a long time ago. After a simple look over, no obvious signs of failure came up , So we decided to give it a go!

White. Just very dirty. The challenge with the white leather interior was keeping it clean. Even if you didn't use the back seat, soot from the air would build up on the leather since the car was a convertible. Really, really striking when clean and the top was down.

Player Two I have a 90 lincoln mk7 Lsc Se(luxury sport coupe special edition ) . I don't know if you know about them but it's like you cars uncle. Has the same 5.0l high output and the aod as the gt (auto only though) also has a 3.36:1 lsd , 4 wheel discs with abs and sport tuned air spring suspension that keeps the car level around corners. I bought it recently from a guy that parked it since 2014 because it had a bad oil leak from valve cover gasket that was put on wrong. One end hole at the back of the engine wasn't even lined up so of course it leaked bad right onto the header. He knew he just replaced the gaskets and the oil pressure sending unit so he didn't want to put more money into it since he had 2 other cars already, one was his mom's lexus that she can no longer drive. It also had a pinhole in the p/s hose that leaked as well so it smoked badly as was a fire hazard to run. He ran it every few weeks until the battery got too low one time and kept on cranking it over slowly but it wouldn't fire. So he toasted the small starter used on these 5.0 ho s . So it hasn't run for a couple years. I bought it changed the starter charged the battery up (was at 10 volts) and disconnected the coil lead to prime the oil pump and lube the top end and it fired right up with the old gas in it. The tank was filled to the top with premium which has no ethanol here in BC Canada. I pumped some gas out and it is tinted yellow but don't smell too bad so I put some mmo and sea foam in it and ran it, these ford's are fairly simple engines. Now the brakes were a pain as it uses hydro boost and the electric pump wasn't working , but I gave the pump a whack and it broke loose the crud seizing it. Also the disc brake slides needed a good clean , and the tail shaft seal leaked from sitting but those things are to be expected with any car that sits.

How would pushing the gas pedal do anything when the car isn't a carburetor its fuel injected. Also when pushing the pedal all it's doing is pushing in air. On most fuel injected engines (ok, every last one I’m familiar with), the throttle is electronic, in which case pumping while cranking the car on does nothing but push air in. the throttle is connected via a cable just to the throttle body. When you step on the gas, all you’re doing is opening and closing the throttle plate, which is simply regulating air flow, not fuel flow. Fuel flow is controlled by the computer, which uses a throttle position sensor along with other sensors to determine how much gas to add. Unless this car is diffrent I would love to know.

Wesleey Sutton, I've owned three G-Bodies, but that certainly doesn't define my manhood. Think you're missing my points. The first message was merely reminiscing about the lost cars of the 50's and 60's and how this car mirrors this decades later. My later message was in regards to it being built up beyond stock aware of it currently being cost ineffective. I assume by you pining for G-Bodies, New Edges, and Foxes that you prefer a more angular car. Which is fine because people's tastes in cars vary. Clearly. Much like the variance in people's level of intelligence.

FYI- the oil pressure gauge on these cars is just a dummy gauge. It's connected to a oil pressure switch that's either on or off. It only takes 5 PSI of oil pressure to make the gauge read normal. You have to put a real gauge on to know if the oil pressure is actually sufficient.

I did not see any dents or rust. It runs and drives. It does need a new top (what convertible doesn't?), a new interior, fix the driver's door latch, probably a tune-up, and a RADICAL cleaning. But otherwise, what's NOT to love about this car? BTW, I have already seen the 2nd video(and almost all it's comments OVERWHELMINGLY saying to save it) of it being used and abused to do doughnuts (but at least no damage done to it). Are you STILL thinking of scrapping this? (Ripley's "Believe It or Not!)

'Stang fan that I am, I would personally cut Jay some slack on this one. There may be legal reasons why this car can't be returned to the road. It may not be his decision to make, i.e. if he is not the owner of the facility or if the car was taken in with the express requirement that it be destroyed. Jay has already saved a number of old Fords/ Lincolns at this yard, so I'd guess there is probably good reason. If Jay hadn't filmed this we would have been none the wiser about this car. Many facilities will not allow filming or public access, so we are lucky to get the insights we do and at the end of the day this channel has resulted in a good number of cars being saved.

It’s actually hard to blow a motor, even revving it while it’s cold won’t blow it. I worked at a Suzuki dealer in 2006, and the salesman and porters would start the cars and immediately hold them to the floor “to make sure they were running” and I don’t remember any ever blowing. For some reason they beat the fire out of used cars and even the ones needing warranty work
@crxdelsolsir

It had a straight body and started, it should be restored, sold or at least donated to someone that would use it. Classic mustangs of the 60's and 70's were not always classics and were treated like this when they no longer had the wow new factor during the 80's. Only When peoples nostalgia woke up that value and therefore the passion to restore, repair and maintain increased.. It is all in the mind and narcissistic mentality. When others want it and the value goes up that people change their attitude to repair and restore. It is still the same car, we should have the repair and restore. Imagine if we did and how much resources and pollution could have been prevented. Also how good would life be seeing more of the older cars on the road. Before you all troll and say they create pollution, old cars can be upgraded and retrofitted. That is how the military works. The F16's and Abraham Tanks are decades old yet the electronics and engines are cutting edge. It runs, straight and serves its purpose of transport so let it live. Fix and sell or give it away rather than letting it go to waste.

I know this vid is 5 years old. But I can't believe you said you were still going to scrap that "Rustang" (I also know you don't like 'Stangs) after starting it up and having it sound so good (by your own admission) and even doing a "lurch test" to see if it moves. I did not see any damage or cancer on it. Though the top has been slashed on the passenger side (I'd just put duct tape on it). So Jay, why did you not clean it up and sell it?
