My theory: I think that either the ground is sinking, or there was a earthquake that caused this mess. It would be too much to repair: to make sure the slides are stable, fix the cracked ground and the worst part, the water pipes underground that was in all likelihood nothing you can fix. It's too mch things to fix and then, the water park was abandoned.
@NobodysAngel814 жыл бұрын
I was thinking earthquake too. I mean it is China and earthquakes do happen there frequently.
@dilo190004 жыл бұрын
If the area was build on an aquifer then this could definitely be sinking as water is drawn up from the ground. you can get results like this. Could have also just been some very unstable land for such a construction, though.
@inz14 жыл бұрын
There are abandoned places like this all over China. You wouldn’t need an earthquake to make a big building or park like this derelict, nothing is built to last in China.
@largol33t14 жыл бұрын
@@dilo19000 I think the park was hastily slapped together without any regard for the foundation. It does happen. Even in the US, sometimes massive structures have problems like this when people don't stop to make sure the ground won't sink or shift. Now Dubai doesn't seem to have issues on its manmade islands because the government actually listened to the engineers. They were firmly warned that unless work was halted to dump more soil and sand to strengthen the foundation, the first island would sink within a year. This pushed construction back a few months but the government agreed to it. Ironically, the economic fallout led to people cancelling their lease agreements and the islands are barely inhabited. I'm surprised they decided to build The World Islands because I don't see how it can succeed if the first three islands aren't even fully occupied...

For anyone curious, this park was opened in July 2014 and closed by October 31st 2015. The park cost 3.18 million yuan to construct, but the owner only payed 1.54 million yuan. This obviously lead to legal issues, and it turned out the owner participated in other sketchy practices like failing to list his assets such as his house. It's a shame this all went down because it looked like a really nice park otherwise! I got this info from an article commented on r/submechanophobia, on a post about the Dolphin Bay Dream Water Park in China.

Looking at it from an engineers perspective and I know nothing of the area. It looks like the ground shifted and became water bound. Notice how the structures themselves are all tilted "I'd call it to one side" on an angle of around3-5% look at the Symmetry of the full scope of things. Engineers are well informed (Even in Chinese culture) to build things according to the environment. The ground shifted and the soil became like soft sand and than sunk. I'm thinking earthquake or mismanagement of construction (Quite possibly, Not defiantly) for the fact that if you look below and the farmers have water. The construction was botched causing the hillside to buildup and soak the ground acting as a dam under the park. I would Imagine and I still like I said before have never been there but I would haul the whole park elsewhere if I was the one rebuilding it. Everything was hauled there and can be re-hauled:) 1. First off you need to consider hydrodynamics. Water falls through gravity and will flow to unless directed. 2. The whole park unless connected to a solid stone like granite is going to crash eventually due to rain fall and mud/granular slides. 3. It's a beautiful view but rain in the region was not thought about obviously. 4. If it were me I would have put drainage before ever starting construction and thought about loads on the existing structure. The load could have been deep struct mounts for buildings and not so much at the top that require large foundations. 5. You have to consider the farmers below as well, Generations of people probably farmed there and for them to leave is a huge NO!!!. (Factoring it all in) Who was the Idiot that decided to put a water park on top of a landslide area? Thanks for the video :) Keep up the great work 1k thumbs up. PS: I'd skate that in a heart beat:) i'm 50 and still would ;)

We got there in Oct 2019 but there was no sign of repurposing or re-developing obviously... and btw, that snake slide is my favourite waterslide ever, including active ones ❤️

First off, ALL the "staff" likely lived there. This is why there were bunks. This is China after all. The country where a lot of companies house, feed, and put up suicide nets for their "employees". Secondly, you're not any safer in a NEW Chinese building. Look up Ghost Cities of China. They built massive complexes of apartment towers, and then a year or 2 later the towers fall down with everyone inside them still. It's a result of the downside of intellectual theft. China makes a lot of the facade that home builders around the world use, but they have never interacted with how the structures are made. So they make the structures LOOK like they would anywhere else in the world, but the core of a large percent of the buildings in China won't last 2 years.

I also love the fact that they are super respectful, like when the guy in the motor bike showed up they didn't try to run like some vloggers to get an "action-packed" scene like they were going to be in great danger. They are respectful and they kindly left whoever is living in the "hotel" as they saw that it is potentially their home they felt as if they were intruding and like I said already they kindly left. In other words I love the vibe and atmosphere they give off, which is art. This channel deserves so much love and I hope they will get it soon.

That statue you found was one of 关羽 (guan1 yu3), often respectfully referred to as 关公 (guan1 gong1; 公 roughly translates to Lord), one of the most famous generals in China's history. He served 蜀 during the Three Kingdoms period, from around 150 to 250 a.d, and was best known for his skills, loyalty, bravery, and morality. The thing he's wielding is his signature weapon - 青龙偃月刀 (qing1 long2 yan4 yue4 dao1; roughly translates to 'Crescent Blade of the Jade Dragon'). He gained somewhat of a godhood during the two millennia after his death, mostly due to promotion (not without exaggeration) by later historians and other writers. Today you can still find many temples in various tourist attractions in China (and by extension, some other countries in Asia) dedicated to him. Many households, especially more traditional ones, would have a small statue of him in their homes, not unlike the one you found. It is believed that he is the guardian against misfortune and malevolence, although not that many people actually worship him as a god.

Nobody has messed with the place because of the social score they have in China. They can identify civilians just by their faces with the cameras and then either show up later at the person's house (if it's a serious offence) or just lower their score so they get penalized. So like buying something will cost them double or something like that. Pretty interesting tbh and it scares people away from doing crime in public. Like if you J walk in a public street they will lower your score. It's crazy

The only reason it looks like that is because there was a massive earthquake there and everybody rushed out and left that’s why there still clothes hanging

It was probably abandoned because of the unsolid ground and would be too expensive to repair so the owner just abandoned it. It could ofcourse have been set off by an earthquake. I saw something similar on a local grocery store in my area which was built on a small swamp area. The building itself doesnt seem to be affected, but the parking area around was sinking. Nothing extreme, maybe sank like ~1/2 meter.
@topdawge36884 жыл бұрын
@@pantzman most of the times parking lots and other walking areas that don't have buildings on there are not supported underneath with pilings and footings, usually only buildings. Most of the time you can can get away with that in areas with softish land. However as seen here, this was too soft and has since destroyed the park. that's why the sidewalks are falling apart and not the main structures or pools. the engineers new they would be under the most stress with water and tall structures so they have bracing underground while the sidewalks don't.

Wenzhou Dolphin Bay Water Park In May 2014, the total cost of the entire project was about 3.18 million yuan, of which Dolphin Bay only paid about 1.54 million yuan, and the remaining 1.6 million yuan has been in arrears. Xue Mokai failed to pursue the multi-party claim, angrily, he took the Dolphin Bay Company to court. In February 2017, Xue Mokai applied to the court for bankruptcy liquidation of the Dolphin Bay Company on the grounds that the Dolphin Bay Company was unable to pay off its due debts and apparently lacked liquidity.

This video calls for an "Abandoned Waterpark Horror movie", it's always an abandoned hospital, asylum, mansion etc. An abandoned Water Park is a flavor I would be into. Very innocent while extremely creepy and unsettling because of it!

This is quite a common thing to happen in China. You can find so many videos online of buildings full of people just randomly collapsing because of the poor construction.
