I went to this mall as a kid, tugs on my emotions to see it like that. Also the geese were always agresive there so at least thats the same.

Back in the day it had the following: Woolworth, Camelot, Baskin Robbins, Diamonds cafe, sears, jc Penney, the magic shop upstairs (it had a second level in the center concourse), Kay Bee toys, Burrows books, Teddy's restaurant, a couple banks, 2 SCREEN movie theater, video game arcade, radio shack, hallmark cards, Cafe parisienne, JC Penney restaurant and hair salon, casual corner, corky and Lenny's, to name a few! there was a huge fountain in the center of the mall where that big skylight is, all the floors were white terrazzo and the ceiling wasn't rounded like it is now, it was very tall to accommodate the second floor and once a year they would have an indoor carnival (this was back in the 70s) Complete with rides and concessions and games. I grew up there in the 70s and 80s, it was cool.

I am sorry that I am posting this 4 months later, but it is the first time that I have watched this video. It sounded like it was an amazing place back in the day. It's sad to see something so beautiful, and it sounds like it was an extremely busy place in its time, in such ruins.

My parents and I used to go here from the 60's thru the 70's. Barbershop outside Sears. I worked for a brief while in the video arcade near the middle of the mall. Sears and JC Penney used to be the anchor stores. Dead malls brought to you by Amazon and Walmart.
@abandonedcentral Жыл бұрын
Even though dead malls are fun to explore it sucks to see so many closing like this. When I was a kid, I looked forward to going to the mall all the time. It was a great hang out spot.

If I recall correctly that mall opened in 1966. It's sad to see mall's empty not being used for something and just watch them fall apart behind repair. The closest mall to me would be the Lima Mall in Ohio which opened in 1965. It's been a really long time since I been to that mall used to get my D&D books from a book store there. There is a KZbin video that showed how that mall looked back in Jan of this year 2024. It's shocking how that mall is still has stores like it does after how people tends to do their shopping now.

I remember when they reopened this mall during the late '90s. It was a thriving mall with lots of attractions. Around 2014 the store started closing... Than about 5 years later it was turned into a storage facility. I believe the store in the first part of the video is JCPenney.
