A visit on the 9th of March 2018 to the former Rosslynlee hospital
I do not recommend to anyone exploring abandoned places, they are very dangerous, I explore so you don’t have too, i document history before change happens.
I do not break and enter steal or vandalise, I take only film 🎥 and leave only footprints 👣

One of my friends was on Duty on last day the Hospital was open, only two wards in use at the time. Anyhow I had the opportunity to explore the remaining empty building and grounds,. really great experience as many traces of former occupancy still in situ.

This site is awesome. Remember me and my friend went to check it out. There was some creepy houses up the back. We ended up getting caught by security but he was s legend. Just told us not to trash anything or he'd call the cops, understandably.

A very moving visit. The big ward where dozens of beds must have been lined up. I feel I can hear the cries and screams of the patients. There must have been so much suffering within those walls. A very poignant visit indeed. Thank you for taking us along, Ian. Keep up the excellent work!

Yes I agree, I’m guessing the hospital would have had an acute and chronic scale for the patients maybe even padded cells ECT Lobotomy rooms etc absolutely terrible the foundation of mental health completely built on experimental torture of victims with zero rights and dignity, I just hope the people that passed though the walls of this building were treated well. Thanks Hubert

Both my mum and gran were charge nurses here from around the end of the 90’s until the hospital’s closure in 2010/11. Both of them worked with elderly people, mainly with dementia. I used to visit and thoroughly enjoyed my visits whilst I was there. In that time the hospital was warm and friendly, and the nurses cared deeply about their patients.

My sister worked there in the 1980’s and my friend Billy worked a psychiatric nurse in early eighties. At that time the staff were only allowed to work five years and had to take a break for their own mental well being. I heard a story about a nurse hanging herself from the stairwell around that time. 🤔🤔

That's a gem of a find Ian. Nice to see there's not been too much vandalism yet. However, I suspect that is only a matter of time. I like to see these places documented before they get destroyed but it also mithers me that these buildings, paid for and kept by tax payers, go to total ruin. I liked the drone shots to show the sheer size of this place and also your music. Did your socks get a bit wet? :D

Hi Olena I remember reading about the place and thinking to myself the very same thing, the place must have been horrible in the olden days no private rooms just curtains, better wards for private patients etc.. the head doctors house house being magnificent of coarse with a big conservatory on the back. you should go see a developer is trying to turn the place into apartments. PM me if your going to visit. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment, best wishes

What are the reasons for so many abandoned asylums? And what are the reasons they aren't needed anymore? Are the inhabitants just shifted to somewhere else, or are there now less patients because families now taken care of their own, or are there simply less patients?
