That was called The Bartram Freshman Center, when I went there. After the freshman year, we went onto John Bartram high school, on Elmwood Ave in southwest Philly. When I attended The Freshman Center and later Bartram high school, I lived right near the high school. My dad had also attended Bartram, in the early 1950's, before quitting to join the army, when the Korean War started.

I went to this school at 81st & Lyons around 1977? It was called the 'Wolf' building when I was there... One of a few 'annex' buildings used by John Bartram schools during my time in the Philly school system between 1967 through 1977. I think the 'main' Bartram building was on 66th & Elmwood Ave which was the High School I went to. This main Bartram High School shared a yard with Tilden Middle School. Tilden had a playground on the roof, completely covered with a fence. I also went to Patterson on Buist Ave for a year while the new Thomas G. Morton school was being built after the original building burned down one winter night. My mom woke me up and I could see the fire from my upstairs window. I lived on the corner of 63rd & Dicks Ave next to the gas station. Then, I went to the new T. G. Morton after it opened. I never went to St. Baranabas behind my house. It was a private school back then.

@clayn9314 жыл бұрын
Two brothers, Joseph and George Cox, went missing on April 24, 1856. Their parents and neighbors searched for them, but they were never found. Eight days later a man had a reoccurring "prophetic dream" about where the boys were. On May 7 the man told his brother-in-law, they followed his dream, and found the two missing brothers, who had probably succumbed to exposure. In 1906, for the 50th anniversary of the event, the community of Pavia took up donations for a Lost Children of the Alleghenies Monument to honor the Cox family. In 1910 they erected the monument at the spot where Joseph and George Cox were found over 50 years earlier.

I remember Mr. Kupsov was my math teacher. I also went to the John Bartram on Elmwood Ave which was closer to my house at the corner of 63rd and Dicks Ave. (Next to the gas station). I walked to the Elmwood Ave school, but had to ride a bus to 81st and Lyons. On a side note, I attended the original Thomas G. Morton Elementary school that burned down one winter night. Then attended the newly rebuilt T.G. Morton a year and a half later. Then, I went to Patterson before Bartram.

Someone said it did have a gym,now someone says the cafeteria was the gym😆 we didn’t have but 13min. to gobble down a Susie-Q, Twinky, a bag of Dipsy Doodles or what ever was on the snack cart that came around to each class😆😆😆.We didn’t have access to the whole building as 9th graders and I always wondered what else was there but you’d BETTER not go where you had no business going!! I came from Tilden and we were buck-wild, now at the Freshman Center we had to grow up they didn’t that there.🤨🤨

There was a gym but it was very small and really dark, I don't think it would've showed up on camera. So I didn't film it. Thanks for watching

There is nothing nice about graffiti or destruction. If it weren't for the poor teachers, I'd say open the school up and let the kids back in to study. See how they like that.
