Abandoned State Cinema!

The State Cinema is a Grade II* Listed building in Grays, Essex. Designed by F. G. M. Chancellor under Matcham & Co., it opened in 1938 as one of the most modern cinemas of its type at the time with seating for 2200 people. As a cinema, it closed in 1988 but has held numerous events and been used for various purposes since. Historic England describe the cinema as being "one of the best preserved of the super cinemas of the late 1930s."

Again, what a great footage it brought me back to when i used to go to cinema a lot as was growing up, and i love how jamiroquai played deeper underground there. That's awesome 👌 and i was 15 when i went to see godzilla 25 years ago. Wow, im ageing 😳 and Thomas. You spoke so well and gave very good info 👏 👍

It's our favourite explorers from last year, it was actually flooded for the Jamiroquai video, Jay kay has a funny story about the video shoot somewhere on KZbin. I was 20 when I watched it in the cinema in '98 so I'm well old lol It was also used in who framed roger Rabbit. Thanks for the nice words 😎👌

This was my local cinema as a child / teenager. Used to use it fairly regularly. Seen all sorts of films here. Was killed off by multiplexes at Lakeside, one of which no longer exists.

This was also a filming location for one of my favorite movies of all time, "Who Framed Roger Rabbit". It was the movie theater, where Roger Rabbit and Eddie Valiant were hiding at after the chase scene with Benny the Cab. It's actually quite saddening to see it like this.

Hi mate, yes the decay and vandalism has accelerated massively, it looks like where it is located doesn't help being right in the center of town, it will probably end up like the Colchester odeon 😔 hope your all good, cheers for watching 👍😎

3 Westar projectors with Peerless Magnarcs and a Philips non rewind (cake stand) just abandoned so very very sad and depressing

You'd think they would have removed it for spares.. I'm guessing that x3 projectors so they could run 70mm ? on change overs..
