***VERY IMPORTANT*** I know you added premix “to be safe” but these are not like Yamaha’s etc. Suzuki CCI (which is their oil injection) directly lubricates crank bearings with oil from the pump. If you run premix only and don’t use the oil injection…or if the oil injection is not working…you can destroy the crank bearings. Suzuki has serious warnings that failure to provide proper oil through the crankcase injector ports on the CCI oil injection systems ON ALL MODELS (excluding TS/TM 400) will cause main bearing oil starvation. Just an FYI.

A friend of mine had a Suzuki gp125 cafe racer and the guy he got it fro INSISTED that he always used the cci/oil pump, explaining why !!.., He had ported it & lightened the crank quite a bit, it went ........ well............... It went from low revs till 6,000rpm okay then it spluttered a bit and BANG 6,000rpm till 10,500rpm was like a rocket or explosion 💥 👌🏼 On/off loads of great 2 stroke power band , and us being 17 years old, it was fast for what it was 💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼 Great times 👌🏼👍🏽

Oil injection system are extremely misunderstood by people and hated in an extremely stereotypical way. I wonder why did the Big Four use them in the first place if 99% of people either break them, neglect them until they break, or remove them immediately, and how it was back in the heyday of two stroke power

My family has been in the motorcycle business for 1/2 a century, and a lot of times, when one of those mini bikes would come in, he could take a piece of all thread and run it down the pipe, and more often than not, a dirt dobber nest would be in there and after that, they would fire right up. Great watching these videos.

Once the transmission oil leaks into the crank case, it travels, with the fuel/air/oil mixture into the cylinder via the transfer ports. No need to get past the rings. I've worked on engines that had oil leaking past the crank seals and also engines that leaked oil into the crank case between the case halves. When the latter happens, the cases are usually warped. Sometimes resealing the cases works, but usually the cases (in my own experience) have to be replaced or resurfaced (if the deformation is minimal). The engine sounds great. Doesn't sound like the crank seals are leaking and I didn't see any transmission oil sputtering out the baffle. Looks like you lucked out with this one. Let's hope that metal that was stuck in the baffle came from a different piston. Couldn't see it very well, but looked like it could have been the edge of a piston, just above the top ring. Hopefully the piston's already been replaced.

In England, blinkers were optional in 1970. Dunno about USA laws though... Back light unit needs replacing though. If you can't get the original Suzuki unit, it shouldn't be too difficult to adapt something else to fit though. Love this project... Right up my street! 🙂👍

Should take a torch to the muffler/baffle and then fill the exhaust with gas and set it on fire so it burns all the crap out..sounds sketchy I know but I’ve done it to a few 2 strokes and it works well

Haha I just took a heat gun and stuck it at the end of the pipe. I left it sit there until it quit smoking. Then I hit it a couple times and all the carbon comes out of the pipe.

I had a garbage find ryobi chainsaw that tipped on its side for a while and the fuel mix drained into the case since the piston was at TDC and the intake is lower than the bottom skirt of the piston.

We had the RV 125. It had 5 gears. When I was a kid I had it going 70mph. That baffle in the muffler comes wrapped inbaffle material. That's the carbon you found. What's left of it. They came with tail lights, turn s8gnals, plate frame. Road legal bikes. Ours had a tach. The 125 was designed better. Carb behind the motor. Whole frame. They had buddy pegs to. It lasted a long time. We beat that thing. Lol. Battery not needed. Not battery ignition. It worked turn signals while idling at red lights.

What an amazing design for keeping the carb clean and away from the elements (dirt/water) I bet these things ran forever and very rarely broke down well over 4k miles on a minibike is damn near a million miles on a real motorcycle 🏍 🤣 it's kinda like dog-years 🤷‍♂️😝

I had a Blue one just like this. Turn signals, empty license plate holder under the stop light and a chrome rack on the back. I remember Dear Old Dad and his mechanic friend taking the exhaust pipe off once, getting a nice hot fire going in the fireplace and placing the exhaust pipe on the fire to burn all the oil and carbon out. It always smoked. The only time I ever got it to stop was one time when I made several "high speed" passes on a straight stretch of logging road. Put hundreds of miles on the thing riding around in circles on our 1.5 acre lot. Fond memories for sure....

Ireason you cant kick it over. t's hydrolocking with all the oil. Your rings not necessarily worn. The oil is leaking into the crank case, then via the ports the oil is sucked up into the combustion chamber, same way as fuel would be suck from crankcase.

That's a collectors item, hang on to that thing. Usually people who mainly offroad these things take the signals, rear light and mirrors off so they don't break them. The center case gasket or sealant probably isn't holding anymore, oil for the transmission side of the motor leaking through if that's just straight oil, or maybe like you said, the guy put oil down the hole to keep it from locking up, or it was locked up and he put oil in it. Ken Kaplan probably has all the parts for that bike.
