I remember going to that Kmart in 2014 before they closed. Just to kind of see the first one ever. Have to admit, the building was retro in some places… But more or less looked like any other Kmart you went into most anywhere else.

They were the first but on same day another Kmart opened. This Kmart open at 9 the second Kmart open the same day but it opened at noon.

that one closed before the 2002-2003 bankruptcy the one your talking about that opened at noon and it Moved that's why so this became the oldest Kmart Operating until 2017,

Dude you came back with the 4k! Cool the lockbox at the front door that I installed is still there! You should have seen the stockrooms in this place! Perfect if you were 5 foot tall or shorter. That wood over the emergency doors is new. Thata where the pharmacy was and the Nathan's cafe would have been to the right by the checkouts!

The original Walmart was torn down a new Walmart supercenter was built on the same location. Kmart never changed.

Manny in Iowa I think the open ones are up in Algona and also Charles City both in the northern part of the state. All of Des Moines area Kmarts are closed and so is one that was in Marshalltown, those closed in the past year.

First of all #4000 Garden City Kmart WASN'T the first Kmart to open its doors for business. Store #4003 in San Fernando beat them to the punch several weeks before their grand opening. Hey at least their building still stands as a DD's Discount

They it's another first KMart in Michigan it in Glenwood Plaza in Pontiac, Michigan. The Glenwood location have K Chife Restaurant and non attach auto center. The Glenwood and this KMart opened different time. I think Glenwood Plaza's KMart never converted into Big KMart. You needed go to haunted KMart in WV.
