This home is a very intriguing one as it is like a big maze and seems to have maybe started life as a duplex and then has seen lots of alterations and additions over the years! This is another one that is a sitting duck regarding redevelopment. There is also a small hair and beauty salon which was obviously run as a home business. Take the tour with me and see for yourselves. Hope you enjoy, thanks for watching :-)

I think it was a duplex. My grandmother was on one side and my great grandmother on the other. My great grandmother ran the beauty shop.

Ok. My thoughts are it was originally a duplex. Then it got modernized and turned into a single family dwelling. Possibly that back area with the bar was not only for entertaining but I got the vibe of possibly a daycare center from the room with all the cubbies and the sink off of it. The size and space and added stove would have made it ideal for childcare. What a truly odd modernized layout. But the amount of cupboards in the kitchen was lovely. But the star of the show has to be those ceiling medallions! Stunning. And I don't know if you noticed the door into the main house from the carport but the art deco touches were fabulous and I would have given anything to see it cleaned and without the items in the way. I must say one half definitely looked better taken care of than the others (bedrooms, purple flower room and beauty salon) just by level of current cleanliness in the video. The side of that stove in the yellow kitchen! Gah! (I type this as I debate for another day if I should procrastinate cleaning the inside of my oven or not) All in all yet another tour leaving far more questions than answers. I would love to research its history and learn more. Lol. Bit then again I feel that way about most abandoned, crumbling and soon to be demolished things. Great explore.

Great summary Erin :-) Yep the 30`s homes had the art deco flavors and I agree it started as a duplex and iv come across a few like this from the 30`s with the same facades also. I do have a friend who has all the research sites avail which can look at land titles and stuff so I may ask her to check this one, thanks for watching :-)

I’ve got a somewhat different take on the house. Near the big entertaining room and bar with kitchen is the L-shaped blue thing u thought might’ve been a desk. I think it was a long bench for seating perhaps waiting to go into entertaining area and dinner. That part of the house I think is an add on as brick is showing behind where the wall is partially ripped off/drywall. The original bedrooms were part of the original house. Multiple bathrooms indicated lots of people were using them. Note one main kitchen...the original. The other was made perhaps when they tried to split the house but alas no real bedroom for one half. Looks like the house had many changes and occupants over the years but I do think it was at one time a restaurant and bar as a business with outside areas too for dining or dancing.

Hi Jan, anything is possible with the layout of it now, it certainly has a lot more room for entertaining than the average home. Definitely had many changes over the decades, the left side was probably exactly like the right when first built or very cole. thanks for watching :-)

This beautiful house has many personalities. I think part was a home, then a boarding house maybe. A bewildering maze of rooms. It has had many different purposes. Great spaces with many rooms and extra bathrooms. I love the veranda and back courtyard. Lovely to see different styles of older houses.

The thing with old houses is that every owner does something to it. They get added on and rooms changed so that they end up butchered like this place. My Grandmother had the yellow kitchen with yellow wall phone in the 1960's.

I recon it was originally two houses that have simply had some internal walls of the first half's bedrooms removed or relocated when it was turned into the one house. The space it has would be brilliant for a family and still have some workshop or home office spaces. You could have some great BBQ piss ups in that huge bar area, and instal a huge above ground pool in the back. What you believe is wood rot looks more like termite damage to me. Nice explore of a house with a difference, thanks 👍

My thought is was a business with living quarters on the other side. The bar area was just too big to me for having a home bar. The room on the side had shelving for bar supplies. It's common for a beautician that has room for a small shop to work at home. My great aunt had a bungalow that she converted the living room into her hair salon. She lived in the rest of the house and her basement she turned into a grooming area for her clients poodles. She paid for the house and got tax credit due to the businesses. Always happy to see your video's. I get to go on a mini vacation. Thanks

Urbex Indigo definitely a party place! Carport gives the impression the kitchen is in the middle of the house ... certainly is a weird layout. Oh nasty, hope it doesn't give you too much grief...we love these explores!

It might have originally been a doctors residence with its own consulting rooms, and later been modified to a single home by someone who wanted their own private Pub. I once knew a retired mechanic who built a replica of an old style English pub in his cellar, complete with taps and ale. One thing for sure, it wasn't Dull there. Cheers!!

Yeah it's a maze for sure. Hard to tell where the original house is/was and where the additions start. Hell you'd need a map of the place so ya wouldn't get lost. But i'm guessin' this'll be yet another knock down

I was thinking that also. I used in home daycare the 1st year, but switched to a church. The in home lady had to have her home bedroom, bath and kitchen seperate from the daycare. The huge entry driveway with bricks is beautiful. That right there I would salvage. The ceiling fans seemed to close to the ceiling.

A little difficult to see what was the original house lay out. I would think this home had been made into a group home for adults or a senior home. Maybe a spa - (bedrooms may have been treatment rooms). Difficult to say. Quite a place lol. Thanks for sharing. So uncomfortable to see those walls cracked and in some situations crumbling. I'm sure your careful, but, please stay safe.

Nice entry and period features. There would have been lots going on in the entertaining part. Huge cracks in the bedroom. The layout a little odd I kinda felt maybe a set up for two families? Greetings to Michael. Thank you for the tour.

I think that one area with the bar was used as an after hours club. Way to big of an open area for somebodies home. And like you said it looks like they split it up and put all the bedrooms to one side with a another living room.

G’day, mate. Thank you for this video of a very interesting home. Seems the foundation settling has wreaked havoc with walls cracking and probably roof cracked and leaking causing rot. I liked the scrolling ornate security doors. May I know your shoe size? I’d love to send you a pair. Nothing weird, I promise!

Well we didn't get much of a look at Micheals legs did we? Most disappointing! Lol. You realIy shouldn't tease us. I suspect the bar area was for serving coffee & snacks to the people who came to get their hair done. You can be quite a while in the hairdressers. Maybe the ladies treated themselves to a G&T there? I did wonder whether there might be a bit of a childcare facility too with that blue bench/ desk area? Thankyou for shariing.

That would have made for one great big party house. Don't think there are enough bedrooms for student housing and combining the colour scheme with that says there's no brothel here either. A Kindergarten perhaps, but no signage givaways here folks. Pre-school care? No I'm going for a private games location for all of K's special guests, with after hours cocktails and god knows what ever else.

From the front I'm left unsure what style the house was originally. Hi, Michael! I don't recall seeing the rectangular ceiling medallions before. I think that at least two buildings were joined to create this. There were several walls that were exterior brick then covered over with furring strips and wall board. The one room near the bar had blue benches on the wall for seating. Perhaps the second living room with the painted walls was a child care for the people partying in the bar or employees? A break room might explain the small kitchen. Hair salon????? Anybody's guess. This poor house, or houses, has/have been reincarnated many times.

Hi Lynne this style was when Tudor was transitioning in to Art deco from the mid 30`s to late 30`s and this one is something in between but it has lost a lot of the original plan it seems. A lot of puzzling decisions made for the remodelling but I huess it all made sense at one point haha. Thanks for watching :-)

That house was odd. First part looked like a club or bar. Was that a stripper pole, with a little ledge on it? The room sure was big enough to have a room full of tables & that pole at the other end. And the big bar, in the next room. Loved the walk in pantry. Really great explore. Sure makes you think.
