Hey guys I just got here in the nick of time to record this one as it was demolished only days after which was last November. Yes another one and it is an unfortunate fact that most of my videos are of houses that are slated for demo and thus the main reason why we get to see them which is bitter sweet. This one was built 1908 and has the typical nice old features of the era also some extensions and renos over the years. It suffers from from some pretty sever cracking from foundation problems which has sealed its fate no doubt. Hope you enjoyed the tour :-)

Yeah I like the corner bricks, they sure had a way with building houses in the day. Pity it's all destined for the trash heap. There are so many keepables in that house which I am sure they will trash. All those iron trims on the front verandy, I hope they keep them. They would be worth a mint.

Lovely house with some stunning features. So I did a google search on the fridge and it looks to be a 1940s or 1950s model. Apparently Mr Leonard started to make fridges in the late 1800s. I was going to say that the house has alot of late 1800s features like the tongue and groove and the beautiful stained glass on the front door. What a cosy little home. Shame it was going to be knocked down. Thanks Paul

I saw the Stobbie pole and thought BRILLIANT another South Australian amazing house. They are so stylish, very grand for a family home. The leonard fridge made in America would be from 1940-50's The one I had was rounded at the top. One year for their birthday when I had no money I painted it up like a jukebox, looked great.

Thank you Urbex Indigo for sharing this explore of a charming old Symmetrical cottage and It is such a pity that it ended up with severe cracking and to then be demolished. What a sad waste of a charming old home that added to the characteristic of the tree lined older Adelaide suburbs. The Symmetrical cottages were built between 1860-1915. If the home was restumped in time, might have been saved from the increased cracking. The front facade is stunning with the mixture of lime stone and quoining architecture. Also, it appears there were added renovations at the back of the property around mid to late 1980s or early 1990s. The Austrian curtain that was in one of the rooms, they became very popular again in the late 1980s-1990s. I used to make the Austrian curtains for a couple of my own homes. The vintage 1950s fridge was a great find and is a Leonard. A fridge similar is selling for $400.

Ahghh...I need to hit the sack. I'll have ta watch over again.thanks for documenting this lovely old cottage. Shame it'll be gone sòon. Wonder if those cracks produced, loud noices,as they occurred? I know my old farm house creaked and snapped, crackled and popped. It felt alive especially at night, when everything was quiet. I hope it never gets torn down..like these beautiful homes. Am so glad you care enough to document and give these homes the last bit of respect they deserve, Paul. Out of all the explorer's..you are diffo my favorite. Your polite and polished. I seldom comment on some of the other sites. Because, some act like goofballs and nutters. Or talk so much i shut off the volume.or every other word, is f**k this f**k that. I love how there is a fire place in nearly every room! Imagine trying to keep the wood up to them all to keep the house warm. (When this house was built, the owners obviously had $ bc it is so big, they would probably have had a maid or housekeeper to keep the fires going. Imagine the wood you’d go through though!)

My mum had one of those fridges, so I would say it was a 50's to 60's. I was born in 57 and we had it when I was young. I think the hole was a wine cellar cause it was only a small room. The main bedroom was probably the original lounge room, looking at its size. Mum's house had the same wall vents in her bedroom as was in the small bedroom with the yellow curtain. All in all a nice house. One I would live in if it was ok.

I'm guessing 1890 to 1910 based by the shaped panels of the front door alone. In Melbourne the developers would have a hard time getting authority to demolish it totally due to the brick & stonework, cast iron lacework and the Tessellated front porch tiles. The rear extension was late 60's to mid 70's judging by the 'Weather Wall' type aircond unit, and the swimming pool is more mid 70's. The front of the house looks beautiful by its architecture and paint scheme.

Another great walk through. I think the house is about 1895, but it is hard to tell and you could be right. This was originally a lovely family home. It appears to have had multiple renos and extensions during it's life has been valued against the land value. There are certainly a mix of styles and periods. Leonard fridges are American. First fridge around 1900! Leonard merged with Kelvinator in the mid 1920's Not sure how old the fridge is but it may surprise you. Thank you so much for sharing this one

Over here we call it "iron lace", it's typical of the Federation style from circa 1890-1920, the houses in South Australia usually have gorgeous sandstone or bluestone facades, compared to the brick or wood construction used elsewhere in Australia. Fortunately the (1918) place I am currently living in (probably one of the last years of this style) doesn't have foundation issues like the house in the video and is protected from demolition due to heritage listing.

Seems like the extension near by the kitchen seems to have been built for a full dining room most likely. Considering that the kitchen was originally smaller. Neat front patio features too. It's a shame these old, antique houses are being demolished... Modern homes just can't compete with older ones when it comes to charm and history. The renovations through the decades that this house had is like writing a chapter in your life history. Or something to that effect. The stories that these houses can tell is amazing.

Love your channel love seeing all these beautiful homes with the stained-glass windows and beautiful flooring and just the detail blows my mind and when you think they’re going to pull it down to build something modern just makes me really sad

I expected a nicer interior as the exterior of these homes look up-market. I was amazed to see such narrow walls bordering the sides of the fireplaces, some looked like there would have been no room for a mantel.

Hi was a great day for your explore. Very interesting find and really surprised about this one being demolished. I have never seen brick work like this one or corner fireplaces. Also noticed the gas lights in the ceilings. There were no electrical outlets. Do you recall seeing any? They must have added some later. I hope they were able to save more of this old girl. Thanks so much for the find. P.S. I do hope they saved the fence around the pool. Amazing, looked pristine.

Beautiful house. I like everything about it. I thought the cover you took off and put aside was to maybe a bomb shelter? You said a cellar, but I didn't see anything to put botles in. Thanks for the tour, Paul.

The place seems to have had a tidy & a freshen twenty years ago, nice how adaptable they were. Sweet old gingerbread trim on the front veranda. The old Fridges were so overbuilt, most of them are still operating perfectly today. A cousin of mine passed away recently, and had a 1955 Frigidare still working as a overflow in her porch. Cheers & stay safe.

This one has so much structural damage, cracks and such, that it's time has come I guess, but I love the pastel yellow throughout. It makes it seem bright and cheery. I also love the...what is it called, filigree?...on the front ironwork. Another great explore. Thanks!

So glad you were able to share this beauty! Loved the lighting, perfect time of day for the center of the house to glow with the sunlight. Front of the house was rather dark, but that didn't distract from the leaded stain glass at the door and I always love the detailed wood in the arch of the front hall. Glad there was one mantle to see. Is the detail of the front porch/veranda wood or metal? Hope that can or will be salvaged. With all the settling of the foundation I can see why this will be demolished I can't imagine where you would begin to save a building that far gone. All the more reason for this one to be saved on video!! Thanks again, really enjoyed this one, mostly the time period, but loved that light coming in. Be safe!

Hi. the fridge is from the fifty's if the interior was Jadite Green they were rare. I thought a body was wrapped in that rug; outside the place looks small but inside it's big, didn't like the stone cladding at the front. Tfs :-)
