@@jeantetreault132 He meant the picture tube. Even when TVs went to transistors, the picture tube still took time to warm up. Some TVs kept power to the tube even when the TV was "off", to shorten the start up time, a serious waste of electricity.

idk how it is there but in the US they just leave power on when someone calls and says they are moving or the house or business is closing because its easier than turning it off only to have to turn it back on again and they don't expect it to use more than a couple of dollars worth of electricity per month. that was explained by a power company employee. although with that place's heat still being on, even just a little, they should have noticed and investigated by now and turned it off. 40 years i can't believe they'd have left it alone that long really. they just forgot about it probably.

I wish the place near my house was still there. They tore it down but it was a mansion behind an amusement park. Had multiple floors, even it’s own gym. Definitely was abandoned in the 80s because of the clothing left there and the art on the walls was something right out of an 80s movie. Whoever owned that place just left/ got kicked out for sure because everything was still there.

@JUST_ONE_ID10T
@JUST_ONE_ID10T 4 жыл бұрын
@jason9022 well it is an old building so most likely it has a hard cut off that someone hooked back up. It's not some new building with a digital cut off that can be done remotely. plus they do meter the buildings even on commercial buildings I used to work as maintenance at a hotel and they had an electrical room with some meters as it took many with the amount of draw of power. each one was tri phase. So don't tell me it can't be done. I know better. it had many 3 phase panels. With power meters in the electrical room. So if the power company pulled the meters someone could by pass them.

I’m sorry to say this, but all of the labeling on the Classic Coke cans and all the Molson brewery bottles, in the bar downstairs are dated from approx 2005-2008. Certain black Sony remote control television sets, in the upper rooms, are also dated from the mid 90s technology as well. We’re a little bit too far astray from 40 years of abandonment of this hotel. Won’t you agree with me guys? The premises still look relatively too clean despite its decaying. Especially with all the power and the alarm systems still going on. There’s no way that this hotel resort could’ve been abandoned in the 70’s, 80s or 90s at all, under any circumstances. With all due respect, please get all your facts straight next time with the true history of this hotel guys. This hotel was abandoned much later than you anticipated ! I would say at the most 2012. Very nice. I truly love you video! Thank you. Johnny Montréal, Canada!👍🌈🌎💖😉

To answer the power question, power is often left on to 1) give the illusion that the building is still occupied 2) slow the decay of a building by keeping HVAC systems running 3) keep people from stealing the copper wiring. You said the building was bought by the city, they're likely the ones paying the bill. They've likely forgotten why they're paying it, or what it's for because when you have the volume of cash going in and out that a government does, $300 a month is nothing, or even worse, they lumped this building's power bill in with the general power bill for government buildings, and have completely forgotten they never shut it off.

I can tell you right now that this hotel has not been abandoned for more than 25 years. Some of those TV's (The non-knob kind) are early to mid-90's models. Either way, its still crazy to see that it has full electric. It think its just one of those cases where the electric company forgot to disconnect the power and no one is really paying for the electric as its probably just being written off as part of the city public electrical.

This has not been abandoned for 40 years, the TV's may look old but honestly arent that old, 80's - early to mid 90's. The stuff labeled in the kitchen too isn't 40 years old, as well as some of the beer is Canadian and isn't bottled in stubbies.

sometimes with those old tvs,the screen has to "warm up", which i guess is what happened with that one lol

The fire alarm @12:30 has to be newer than 1996. That is when the NFPA, and ANSI adopted the Temporal-Three alarm signal "_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ " sound.

There were several food/bar items, and a few of those overturned TVs that were early '90s or newer. What do you want to bet that the city used to use that building as a storage for furniture, maintenance and random junk?

Brennan is awesome n love Carlo he rocks! He’s a cutie! The stuff looks incredibly dated, but it sure couldn’t keep power on for almost 40 years. That place surely would have caught fire or caved in by then I wonder who hit the fire alarm smh If u plugged the lamp back into a base, it would melt again.
