Victorian 'time warp' mansion which has barely changed since the 1940s
A Victorian party mansion that looks almost unchanged from its heyday - and even has its own secret garden - has just gone on the market.
Fern Cliff, in Stockport, Greater Manchester, has been valued at £1.5million and is unlike any other home in the area.
Despite it being almost 150 years old, it has managed to retain many of the original fittings from 1869, such as intricate stain glassed windows and ornate tiles.
Stretching an enormous 6,997 sq ft and boasting ten bedrooms, it's something you'd expect from a royal estate than a suburb in Stockport.
It was once even home to the former Lord Mayor of Manchester, Sir James Hoy, back in 1894, who lived in the house for over 20 years.
Sir James was a wealthy man who made his money through cotton mills in the area and went on to have 14 kids, but much of the family money was lost during a huge fire at one of the mills around the time of the First World War.
And due to its heritage and colossal size, the property has always been the centre of attention for parties.

Wow! What a gorgeous place. How sad it’s just left abandoned but you’d need a lot of money to renovate that beauty. How long has it been abandoned? Love all the details and craftsmanship that went into these homes back then.

It certainly was a lovely place so sad to how it’s deteriorating it’s been abandoned for just over 10 years and is on the market for 1.5 million it would need a lot of money to put it back to how it should be so sad

The ceiling plaster is coming of the ceiling thats a shame covering every thing in the mansion in white dust 😮 ceiling needs doing and a sweep up needs a clean and paint job😅 and furnuture dusted with a brush curtains washed garden tided good luck guys😅
