In this weeks video we dive into my 1965 toyota corona, and see what it’s going to take to get it running and driving again.
It’s been an absolute blast working on this thing! 58 years old and still working better than so many modern cars!

I had one of these, a 67 model 1500. Those were made when Toyota was reliable and could be trusted, not the parts bin lucky packets of today. Toyota made Toyota then, and didn't get engines from Joe and bodies from Jay. I drove the Corona until 1985. It was fairy green and had no rust, although it slept outside not far from the ocean. I really loved❤ that car.

I thought I heard when these and the first Hondas and Datsuns made it to the states the salt from the ocean started corroding the cars before they we've ever unloaded. Amazing find certainly never seen one of them 👍

Interesting, I hadn't heard that before, this ones rust seems to be from the window seals going bad and the doors filling with water. and the trunk seal going bad leading to it filling with water too.

These 60's to early 80's JDM's are becoming a popular build, I've trying to get the kids (20 somethings) that I work with to buy an older car and get it running into daily driver condition so they can save money, so far i've gotten 2 do so, one of the guys bought a 73 Malibu but the girl bought a 78 Corona Wagon, it's a cool little car and I was surprised how easy some of the parts were to find. she going to do the paint job a light blue and have a woodgrain wrap on the sides to build it into a "surf wagon". it's an absolutely cool little car.

Little sisters first car was a 68 with Toyoglide two speed auto. The car ran great, the transmission after a while not so much. That thing looks just like the 68, I didn't think they added the fender marker lights till like 68. She ended up with a Pinto wagon that wasn't much better than the Toyota that the shop who sold it to her fixed back up in trade and sold for a profit. They probably just changed the fluid and filter in the transmission and added some friction modifyer to get it to shift again. It was a cool litter car but she didn't want to pay to rebuild the transmission.

Ours was a 69 Corona, 3rc, same color, different grill - brings back memories. And what year is that Chinook, lurking in the background at about 13 minutes in? Mine is a 77 with 78 engine. And the film shows why we love our historic toyotas.

@@redlineranch. Small world. Just finished explaining to a friend why I keep mine, and don't buy something newer - what a car, especially since the God of RV restoration, Tuffy, brought in back to shining life. If I can figure out how to do it, I'll send a picture of Tuffy and the Chinook the day he brought it home. It's been without a garage for several years and now needs some body work. But still runs well, and gets lots of good comments. By the way - I'm looking for a driver's side window regulator. No luck on eBay. Any suggestions?
