One tank (a panzer 4 ausf h) got restored and put in a museum. What’s cool about it is that it saw combat in ww2 and was lost during the war, of course it was found, and then went to fight at golan hights. It’s now at the Danville tank museum

Man it's sad seeing all these tanks just abandoned like that for some reason I feel them. Their just sitting there waiting for someone to move them while they watch the beautiful scenery if I was rich I would travel and bring all these tanks to a tank museum where they can finally rest in peace 😔

The panzer 4 was from the spanish army, sold to Sirya. In Spain the Army keep 3 units preserved in perfect condition , one in running condition.

How satisfying is knowing that those tanks are still nearly perfectly conservated, I'm sure at least one of them with the correct pieces missing and mechanical readjustments they will be ready and make that engine roar again...
@Michael-yu2yk7 жыл бұрын
except they're not. i hate to go from comment to comment, but as i have said before restoration is a hell of a lot more than cleaning off rust and then repainting it. these tanks are not in good condition especially the panzer 4. it's better to leave work like this up to people who know what they're doing. these tanks take the same skill level to restore as an old gutted car you might see in poorer places in the US or abroad. it takes hundreds of thousands to move and restore things like this, which is why major museums only do static (not moving) restorations. t. wwii/turboprop aircraft restoration expert

Lefartenshisten I totally agree. I'm a retired professional auto and truck mechanic with restoration experience, which is much easier than something as large as a tank. I have done restoration work on a 1943 M3 Halftrack and a 1944 Kubelwagen though. I think most of the people who make comments about wanting a tank are merely "in love with the idea", not the reality of actually buying and restoring one. They don't understand how complicated and expensive the job really is - even if they managed to find all-volunteer labor. It's a "simple" matter only if there's an unlimited checkbook! LOL!

There was another Pz IV by an old Syrian bunker on the original 1967 boarder just near Kibbutz Dafna ,that I went to look at in 1987. Can't see if it's still there as google maps are low res for this area. (the DMZ line goes right through the bunker on a small hill to the NE of Dafna.)

These vehicles, even in the shape they are in are worth $100s of thousands of dollars.
@RisezrCyberuz7 жыл бұрын
I wonder how much it would cost to ship it to where I live🤔
@Michael-yu2yk7 жыл бұрын
yeah lets get permission from like 3 governments to get access to a wrecked tank (which is considered war material, more hassle), then pay for removal fees, then pay even more at customs to demilitarize the gun barrel (yes that's necessary) and any other equipment, then on top of that pay for shipping, which along with US (i'm just assuming you live there) towing fees in the US will amount to tens of thousands of dollars, if not more. preservation costs or god forbid restoration costs rack up a hell of a lot more money, in the hundreds of thousands of dollars. restoration is a hell of a lot more than simply cleaning off rust and repainting. then for a cherry on the cake vehicle taxes and storage fees afterward. leave this up to professionals t. aircraft restoration expert, USA
@RisezrCyberuz7 жыл бұрын
Lefartenshisten True true but they would be nice to see restored to its former glory instead of rusting. I mean they are apart of a important part of history and for that they deserved to be remembered as their true form
@Michael-yu2yk7 жыл бұрын
you're not getting what i'm saying. there are enough of them in the world that people aren't going to pay to restore a panzer 4, of which 8,500 were built. there's no money in it. like i said earlier i do wwii aircraft restoration work and the planes we salvage and restore are ones that have to be perfectly preserved. we don't work with some kinds of aircraft if they crashed in salt water over freshwater. i get you want to "preserve" these but it's nearly impossible. too many of them and too little money.
