Whatever crap that developer is going to build in its place won't have anywhere near the durability, quality of timber, or craftsmanship of this mansion. I could understand if it were falling down, but this thing looks almost move-in ready. I'm sure it cost more to demo it than to get it spruced up and up to code.

Yell all you want. You have a right too. The previous owner probably had it for sale for a new buyer and the developer most likely told them I will give you cash for the entire thing. That's pretty depressing. Such a neat set of houses. Hell, I'd have been happy in the guest house. All that wood paneling was so nice. And that really neat stairway. There was all kinds of old and now rare stuff in there. There was a good bit of furniture that would have been quite pricey in its day, and would still pull a good price. Probably a lot of interesting books in there as well. But it's a real bummer seeing a gorgeous set of really neat homes like that and knowing they were just rolled over for a bunch of McMansions, or whatever.

It's funny, strange, not ha ha, how people around the world in most countries, they preserve or restore their history. Here we destroy it. 😢 i can almost hear the echoes of laughter and conversation as you walk through the common areas. As a delivery driver, I would go through old neighborhoods and see the classic architecture, then a spot where someone tore down the old house and put up a cardboard box modern art masterpiece, not only destroying that house but the character of the neighborhood while they were at it.

Lots of very nice and expensive stuff left behind. Hopefully, the developer just didn't trash it. Maybe they auctioned it off. Hope so.

There needs to be some sort of code of ethics for developers. This beautiful building that survived over 150 years was demolished to make way for cheap crap that won’t last 40. The cost to build this today is more than the entire value of this “developers” project. This guy is the construction equivalent of a private equity firm. Whoever destroyed this should be publicly scorned.

No decay? No vadalism? Move in ready! Sheesh... Would need a tasteful addition with an elevator to provide for ADA and late life access to the upstairs but this was a GRAND LADY of a house.

It looks more like built around 1890-1910, not 1850’s

I could be wrong. When I did a look up it said 1850s but maybe that was only one part of the house. I know a lot of these places get additions later on
