Feeling so nostalgic, had some of the best times of my life working at this hotel. Mr Thacker was the manager, he was fantastic. I was 18 came down from Newcastle with my friend Dorothy. The hotel is haunted and at times could be quite frightening especially starting a shift at 5 in the morning on the corridors on your own .

Beautiful old historic building. With the proper renovation & some upgrades it can be the jewel it once was. Would be a shame to raise it. Keep us updated. Enjoyed the video.

great vid, its weird I didn't see any rat droppings, I live in the states where a place abandoned that long the rats most certainly would have found that after dinner candy and went to town on it. cheers

I do like the 'watch out for pickpockets' sign. A nice example of the sign-painters art. It looks older than the directional room signs, which point upstairs. Hard to know how old it is. Maybe 1940's or 50's? I do hope that's kept and incorporated into the renovation.
@AbandonedUK7 жыл бұрын
Thanks Stuart, The oldest reference i could find was from 'British History Online' On the outskirts of the parish, a mile to the north of the church, are one or two old cottages close to the blacksmith's forge, and close by is a picturesque old inn, with the sign of 'The Chequers,' parts of which are of the 16th century. www.british-history.ac.uk/vch/surrey/vol3/pp200-208 The buildings has been much altered over the years....but was an old coaching inn on the London to Brighton Turnpike.

It would have been criminal to demolish a building with that all that history behind it and I'm so glad it's only being renovated now. Excellent explore, thanks for filming it in what must have been a pretty creepy hour of the morning. Great work, as always!

That brought back some memories, I recall the pickpocket sign and the stained glass windows in the door, that and beer of course. On a different note, what's the deal on that really old house on the junction of Ifield rd and Peglar way in Crawley, I've never known it to be occupied and I'm going back thirty years plus. I thought maybe you'd know something. cheers

Hi Eileen, I worked at the hotel and we also had a few experiences with the ghosts, there’s a big house across the road some of the female staff lived in it , that also had a very bad ghostly presence in the attic bedroom.

When it opens again I suppose it will be “Compleat with ye olde ghosties” In your travels have you experienced anything supernatural that scared you that you couldn’t explain? I have an open mind but I wonder if these hauntings are sometimes associated with advertising...👻🦇👀
