2. When we have a linear analysis we apply a load (-1N) to find the critical load where the buckling occurs, But in the non-linear case why we use a displacement (-1 mm) - I supposed it due displacement that you apply in your test- isn't it?
@hnrwagner2 жыл бұрын
in non-linear analysis we evaluate the reaction force and usually buckling occurs for this thin shell within 1 mm of displacement, this is due to experience. for thicker shells one should use 10 mm

Finally, why you found the same critical load in both cases if in the non-linear analysis we are consider a imperfection, we supposed the load should be minor due this imperfection?
@hnrwagner2 жыл бұрын
because the imperfection is very very small. For an imperfect buckling load which may be suitable as a design load you need to apply different methods. Like: SBPA: kzbin.info/www/bejne/bWWbpJ1oot1-btE LRSM: kzbin.info/www/bejne/j3y6lpKfibJ2o7s SPLA: kzbin.info/www/bejne/m6fLm52pirWdrdk

Hello Dr. Ronald, I have some questions. 1. When we are doing a buckling analysis we can use the half of the geometry, when it is symmetric?
@hnrwagner2 жыл бұрын
could be use but not if you want to introduce some kind of imperfection
